This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. -Ratings Breakdown:
Fox dominated in the overnights on this fourth Thursday in January, but its competition was a night of all repeats on CBS. In series-premiere news, Fox legal-themed drama “Rake,” starring Greg Kinnear, opened with a second-place 4.5 rating/7 share in the 9 p.m. hour. While that was equal to year-ago occupant “Glee,” retention out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of “American Idol” (#1: 8.3/13) was only 54 percent. And there was a loss of 18 percent in the second half-hour (4.9/ 8 to 4.0/ 6). In other words, this is not a positive start for “Rake.” Let’s see what the demos look like.

“American Idol,” meanwhile, averaged an 8.0/12 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m., which was 16 percent below the 9.5/15 on the year-ago evening. If the erosion this season remains in this vicinity, “American Idol” is still strong enough to stay on the air.
The repeat of “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS still managed to win the 8 p.m. half-hour, with an 8.1/13 (versus a 7.6/12 for “American Idol”). And that led into encores of “The Millers” (#2: 5.4/ 8), another episode of “The Big Bang Theory” (#1: 6.0/ 9 at 9 p.m.), a 9:30 p.m. edition of “The Crazy Ones” (#2: 3.8/ 6) and 10 p.m. sophomore drama “Elementary” (#1: 4.8/ 8).
Elsewhere, two-hours of cooking competition “The Taste” on ABC could not compete opposite “American Idol” with a third-place 3.0/ 5 from 8-10 p.m. And that led into a repeat of “Shark Tank” at a third-place 2.7/ 5 at 10 p.m.
NBC was out of the competitive loop, as usual, with its Thursday line-up of “Community” (#4: 2.2/ 3), “Parks and Recreation” (#4: 2.3/ 3), “The Michael J. Fox Show” (#4: 1.6/ 3), “Sean Saves the World” (#4: 1.9/ 3) and “Parenthood,” which perked up to a second-place 2.9/ 5 at 10 p.m. And The CW populated the evening with dramas “The Vampire Diaries” (#5: 1.9/ 3) and “Reign” (#5: 1.4/ 2), which was eight percent above year-ago occupant “Beauty and the Beast” (1.3/ 2 on 1/24/13). Chances of a second season of “Reign” look positive.

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
If you’re interested in Ratings/Renewals/Cancellations then we have a number of resources here at SpoilerTV that we recommend you check out.
funny how NBC comedies are doing the same rating like CW dramas lol
ReplyDeleteParks and Community both seem up for last week, hope they keep steady.
ReplyDeleteSwapping MJF didn't seem to help either show. SSTW is even and MJF is one tenth up in households.
ReplyDeleteif anyone cares to compare BATB's performance to Reign's...http://stvplus.com/ratings#compare.
ReplyDeleteReign could muster a .7 today....
WAIT a second...TVDs 100th episode didn't get more viewers than expected ? Consider me shocked.
ReplyDeleteAs for Reign, good for its fans, I guess. But being on par with BatB isn't exactly something to be proud of

ReplyDeleteNot the official 18-49 rating but it's based on the top 25 markets. Only a 1.7 for Rake. That's pretty disappointing.
Thanks, yep a little lower than FOX would be hoping for.
ReplyDeleteIt did 0.5/0.6

Elementary is marked incorrectly, it was a repeat. Just thought I'd give you a heads up :)
ReplyDeleteBad night for original programming today.
ReplyDeleteFOX dramas are hit or miss, they either premiere above 3.0 or below 2.0, which is Rake's case so it's DOA.
i was expecting 1.0-1.1 for TVD.it always returns lower in the second half every year and faces off AI in this timeslot. So,nothing surprising here.viewership was decent though!!
ReplyDeleteElementary beat Phood in the first half. Good showing for a repeat for that show.
ReplyDeleteDid Parks score a 1.0 or 1.2?
ReplyDelete1.2
ReplyDeleteThanks, fixed.
ReplyDeletethose viewers for TVD seem high for a 1.1, so hopefully it adjusts up
ReplyDeleteI wish community was higher because Last night's episode was fantastic.
ReplyDeletehopefully it will!!
ReplyDeleteAccording to futon critic Reign got 0.7 and both VD & Reign returned up
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Marc Berman got some of the numbers wrong this week (he was also wrong on Parks). He has been slipping lately both in terms of accuracy and writing quality.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, if something is "needless to say," why are you writing it?
Reign's halves were .5/.6 but it got a .7? Interesting.
ReplyDeleteLol thats good for Reign then. I only saw Bermanns numbers. Guess he made a mistake again xD
ReplyDeleteI think berman got the numbers wrong. My guess is that the first 1/2 hr should have been .7.
ReplyDeleteTVD did as expected Reign also up from last espisode im glad!
ReplyDeleteI think it will at least a tenth, it has gone up .2 before and those viewers do seem quite high
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else unable to see the ratings table?
ReplyDeleteYup the first one did the trick, thanks.
ReplyDeleteCool :)
ReplyDeleteAnyone know if last nights finals will be released today?
ReplyDeleteI hope so.
