-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Wednesday 1/23/13:

-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Super Fun Night” (ABC), “The Tomorrow People” (CW), “Nashville” (ABC)

-Ratings Breakdown:
“American Idol” led Fox to another overnight Wednesday victory, with an 8.6 rating/13 share from 8-10 p.m. (peaking in the 8:30 p.m. half-hour at a 9.1/14). But, mirroring recent seasons, “Idol” remains on the downside with a year-to-year loss of 17 percent.
Second overall for the night was CBS care of encores of sitcoms “The Crazy Ones” (#4: 2.6/ 4) and “Mom” (#4: 2.6/ 4) from 8-9 p.m., followed by original episodes of “Criminal Minds” (#1: 6.8/10) and “CSI” (#1: 6.2/10) from 9-11 p.m. Year-to-year, slippage for the two veteran crime solvers was 14 percent for “Criminal Minds” and 16 percent for “CSI.” Keep in mind that regularly scheduled Wednesday 8 p.m. occupant “Survivor” will return on Feb. 26 with a season themed “Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty.”
The standout on ABC, of course, was “Modern Family” at a dominant 6.8/10 in the overnights at 9 p.m. Comparably, that built from lead-in “Suburgatory” (#2: 4.1/ 6 at 8:30 p.m.) by 66 percent. And lead-out “Super Fun Night” slipped to fourth, with a 3.2/ 5 at 9:30 p.m. But year-to-year, “Modern Family” was down by 14 percent.
Earlier in the evening on ABC was “The Middle” at a second-place 5.6/ 9 at 8 p.m. And sophomore drama “Nashville” finished third at 10 p.m. with a 3.7/ 6, which was 12 percent below the already lackluster 4.2/ 7 on the year-ago evening.
In week three news, NBC drama “Chicago Fire” rose by eight percent week-to-week, with a second-place 4.1/ 7 at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of lead-in “Law & Order: SVU” (4.6/ 7) was solid at 89 percent. But a 4.4/ 7 overall for “SVU” from 9-10 p.m. finished a distant fourth in the time period. At 8 p.m. on NBC was sophomore “Revolution” at a third-place 3.4/ 5, which was a minor improvement from one week earlier (and up by 70 percent from repeats of sitcoms “Whitney” and “Guys With Kids” on the year-ago evening).
The CW capped off the evening with reliable “Arrow” (#5: 2.0/ 3) and struggling “The Tomorrow People” (#5: 1.1/ 2), which is moving to Monday at 9 p.m. out of new drama “Star-Crossed” effective on March 17.

Once again I don't understand how he classifies winners and losers. Last week, Arrow had the same household numbers and was a winner, this week it isn't mentioned as a winner. I know it doesn't mean anything, but it's just very random what is a winner and what is not.
ReplyDeleteWish TTP wouldn't be a loser though :( I really enjoyed last night's episode! I believe it's getting better and better.
love TTP why so low i dont get it
ReplyDeleteI think he means Chicago PD, not Fire!

Almost seems like people are tuning out when Lauren heavy episodes air.
ReplyDeleteHas arrow gotten a .8 before?
ReplyDeleteagainst World series.
ReplyDeleteYes it has. Episode 2x04.
ReplyDeleteI liked laurel yesterday
ReplyDeleteAh okay. I thought so, but I couldn't remember if it adjusted up.
ReplyDeleteDang men AI is killing Arrow and TTP that`s it`s low ever right¿?
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping TTP can at least perform at it's current levels for Mondays....
ReplyDeleteSide note: I thinking of doing a fantasy ratings league for fall.
Winston Mize You can see all historical records for all shows and all episodes in the Ratings Database
ReplyDeletehttp://stvplus.com/show/245/Arrow#episodes
Good recovery from ABC and NBC
ReplyDeleteSeries low for both boring CBS procedurals.
Bad night for CW.
Yeah i liked her too. But the drop from 1.1 that Arrow got before the holidays and then getting a 0.9 and tieing a series low of 0.8 could be connected that these episodes have been promoted as heavy Laurel episodes.
ReplyDeleteYou are not he only one hoping that. At least TTP is steady. It doesn't need to be dropping
ReplyDeleteany further. Plus, I think that it is quite lead-in independent. Arrow
has been dropping these past weeks while TTP held steady at 0.5.
No surprise CBS took hit. What were they thinking using two middling new comedies to lead off night?
ReplyDeleteYes!! Yay Chicago PD!!!!
ReplyDeleteTTP will survive only if both Star Crossed and The 100 bomb.
ReplyDeleteReign has the edge over TTP and this is not likely to change (in spite of the fact that Reign hasn't aired an episode after the break).
CW has 10 hours of primetime to fill, 4 of them are sure things, if they bring HoD for a 22-episode season + 1 hour of Whose Line or encores on friday + Reign they still have 3 hours to fill and they'll either premiere 2 or 3 new shows next fall.
Great news for Revolution--nice bounce back...it's 1.5 one of it's best numbers. It has been very steady and with NBC's state has respectable shot at renewal.
ReplyDeleteI think you can count Flash and SPN offspin as almost guaranteed on the fall schedule.
ReplyDeleteNBC had a solid night , im glad revolution went up a tiny bit.
ReplyDeleteSuburgatory seems to be up from last week which is pretty good, maybe people realised its back
ReplyDeleteGood people of SpoilerTV: What is the status on Revolution, Arrow, and Nashville in the long-run! When do you think each is ending? Is any in Danger!?
ReplyDeleteDon't know abt Revolution but Arrow is completely safe. Nashville is on the bubble, it is in danger.
ReplyDeleteYou can see the status of all broadcast shows here
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spoilertv.com/2013/09/spoilertv-cancellation-predictor-table.html
According to our awesome ratings analyst user name:Omabin, it;s in "the bubble". If you look at Spoiler TV's cancellation predictor table above, Revolution is in yellow, meaning it's in danger and could be cancelled.
ReplyDeleteHow unprofessional.
ReplyDeleteNo, I guess it´s because some people don´t jump on board that quickly. October through November are usually the strongest weeks. January usually on many, but not all, shows start a little slower before they rise up again. Let´s just take Chicago Fire and PD, which both rose this week in comparison to the week before.
ReplyDeletearrow vs american idol
ReplyDeleteOk :) I want Arrow to stay on at least 4seasons Nahville And Revolution I don't care for anymore... Revolution has gone downhill S2forward so I care mostly just about Arrow
ReplyDeleteArrow trying its series low is such a shame. That Season Gazillion of Supernatural gets better numbers than it is mind-boggling! I wonder if, as someone suggested, viewers haven't come back to the show after the break because of the Laurel-heavy episodes. She is a much-maligned character, after all. It would be sad if so, considering they're finally starting to turn things around and write her properly.
ReplyDeleteYea, but that'd require you to watch the entire episode to know it's Lauren heavy. Lmao.
ReplyDeleteIt was promoted before as Laurel heavy episodes weeks before airing. Even Andrew Kreisberg went to do Interviews where he said: "These next four episodes are also, in a way, a big Laurel chapter because we really get to see Laurel’s drug use come back to bite her."
ReplyDeleteI would have actually liked to hear an interview with Katie Cassidy about her storyline, but don't know why she didn't do any promo.
No, it has been getting a 0.5 for the last two weeks.
ReplyDeleteI really hate that TTP is moving to Mondays at 9. I have Being Human and The Following at those times.
ReplyDelete
