———-

-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS finished first overall in the household overnights in each of the six half-hours despite airing encores of “NCIS” (8.5 rating/13 share – No.1 for the evening), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (6.4/10) and “Person of Interest” (5.0/ 8), which only proves their worth in off-network. Although “NCIS: Los Angeles” is the perfect fit out of its parent series, an idea for next season could be to position the new spin-off series in the Tuesday 9 p.m. hour with “Los Angeles” an option for another evening. But let’s see what happens with the proposed spin-off first.

Over at NBC, “The Biggest Loser” rose to its best overnight household rating since Dec. 17 with a second-place 4.7/ 7 from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that was up by 27 percent from one week earlier. And “Chicago Fire” followed with a second-place 4.5/ 7 at 10 p.m., which was its best since Dec. 10 and 18 percent above year-ago occupant “Parenthood” (3.8/ 7 on 1/22/13).

There was one notable piece of positive news on ABC care of sitcom “The Goldbergs” at a third-place 3.4/ 5 at 9 p.m. While that may not seem all that spectacular on paper, it did build by 42 percent from the 8:30 p.m. portion of an encore of lead-in “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (2.4/ 4, with a 2.7/ 4 from 8-9 p.m.). Given the comments by ABC President Paul Lee at the Winter Tour, both “S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “The Goldbergs” will be returning next season.

Also on ABC was sitcom “Trophy Wife” at a 2.7/ 4 at 9:30 p.m., which was 21 percent below “The Goldbergs,” and waiting-to-be axed drama “Killer Women” at a distant third-place 2.6/ 4 at 10 p.m. Since ABC canceled the planned session of “Killer Women” at the Winter Tour at the last minute, it is curtains no doubt.

Elsewhere, Fox increased week-to-week by 12 percent with its two-hour sitcom block: “Dads” (#3t, 2.7/ 4), Golden Globe winner “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#3: 3.1/ 5), “New Girl” (#4: 2.7/ 4) and soon-to-be hiatus-bound “The Mindy Project” (#4: 2.3/ 3). “Dads” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” benefited by not facing an original episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” But “New Girl” was still down by 16 percent year-to-year (versus a 3.2/ 5 on 1/22/13). And the combination of CW dramas “The Originals” (#5: 1.6/ 2) and “Supernatural” (#5: 1.7/ 2) was up by 23 percent, on average, from year-ago dramas “Hart of Dixie” (1.3/ 2 on 1/22/13) and failed “Emily Owens, M.D.” (1.2/ 2).
