    That chick at Ultra is such a c*nt, not a very good episode btw. John/Astrid part was kinda nice tho.

    I liked this episode. And i'm glad Jed put Hilary in her place, when she was pressuring the issue to kill Astrid! Ugh, she's such a bitch. I really enjoyed John and Astrid's scenes. When he grabbed her books, and she was telling him about her life, and she said "Why am i telling you all this?" I said, Because he's John that's why! LOL (damn he's sexy). And she has a nice voice, i'm glad sang for John, and i loved the bucket list talk.


    I really liked Astrid and Cara teaming up to get John out of there, and escape themselves. Astrid was so cute with the gun. Hahaha And i felt soo bad for her, when she realized she'd have to stay down there. But she took it a lot better than i thought she would. But when she blamed Stephen for her protection. I thought Damn! Burn!! I mean yeah i get it, but at the same time, she kept pushing for the truth from him. Sooo he's not FULLY responsible for it.


    I'm glad Stephen didn't reveal his powers to Peter fully, and i can't believe it's Luca. I thought it was his Mother. Maybe it still is, idk (that's a rhetorical question, i don't want to know til the episode airs).


    I also liked the scene with John and Roger, I thought it was sweet. This wasn't a epic, episode but i did enjoy it. And i can't wait for next week. I really hope the ratings jumped up tonight.

    It was a very good episode. I really didn't see that one coming, Lucas being a tomorrow person. I was (and maybe still am) convinced that it was Stephen's mother. Can't wait to see how it all turns out next week.

    But the best scenes of the episode to me were Astrid and John's. They didn't really interact before tonight and those scenes were very nice.

    They've NEVER interacted, except for that stare they had. I'm glad they were finally introduced, even if it was on really bad terms. Their scenes were nice. I'm actually excited that Astrid is down there with them. I imagine Cara will try and teach her some moves, Russell will constantly flirt, And John will try to keep her calm emotionally.

    that would be a really good twist. everyone is expecting it to be stephens brother but i can actually see it being his mother. It would also explain why stephen has abilities the others dont. Consider this, maybe they(stephens mother and father) are the first two known people with powers to have a child.

    I think this was the best episode so far. At least was the one that I enjoyed the most.
    And it was because of John and Astrid. John is my favorite character so it's always good when there's some focus on him. I always liked Astrid and I'm glad they are finally doing something with her character.

    pretty good ep... Liked the John/Astrid moments alot but wonder what the ramifications will be for her, and for Stephen as well as they know that he shared his powers with her.... interesting theories that Luka might be a breakout and the ones here that it might be his mother - I wouldn't be surprised if his mother is a TP, as she did say to Stephen that she "Protected them from things that they couldn't begin to believe (for the past 10 years)" but it would make sense that Luka might be one as well....

    It was my favorite episode so far. Astrid is my favorite so I really enjoyed the focus on her and more on her background. Absolutely loved the stuff with Astrid/John. I surprising liked Astrid and Cara too, loved them kicking ass together. And as always Stephen/Astrid were adorable until that last scene with them. I didn't think about it being the mother, that does make sense. Hmm. Anyway, looking forward to the next ep.

    I think you're right because I keep telling myself that Luka (sp?) wasn't in the room with them when Stephen thought Peter pushed him out his head. I might be wrong on that. I'll have to go back and watch that episode again to be sure. It would be a really interesting twist if it were his mother since that would change the whole dynamic of potentially why their father left.

    This show's premise started out with so much potential and while a few story lines appeared rushed early on, I feel like that pace was necessary to get us to this point and hopefully give us a good second half of the season and I'm so happy!! This is one of my favorite new shows on TV!

    Unfortunately i will not me watching On Mondays. My Mondays are packed with 3 shows. Idr if they were suppose to move to 8pm or stay at 9pm, but if they keep it at 9pm, I'll have to watch it online, which i don't want to do.

    I think she knows it and we know they she kept bringing the up the issue. But she's rightfully upset so she'd blamed him. And the things she said was definitely not as bad as other shows would have done.


    Also we as the audience have to remember that even though Astrid pushed for this knowledge, Stephen still didn't tell her how bad it gets. He wouldn't tell her possible serious situation she was in, and let her think he was being paranoid. So yeah it kind of is his fault otherwise I think Astrid would be that person that would have told Stephen to keep a lid on his powers.

    Exactly! Stephen should have been more open and honest with her. If you are going to tell something that endangers not only your best friend, but yourself then you need to tell the entire truth. They got caught because Stephen chose to use his powers in public.
    But, I'm happy it happened because now Astrid will be more involved with the TP stuff.

    Well I would think that Stephen had already discussed those things with her, especially since he came home with a whole bunch of blood on his shirt. Maybe he did tell her, maybe it was off screen? And she just took it lightly. I think he definitely would've been able to tell her more if Luca hadn't eavesdropped on their conversation.

    Great episode. Despite some of the plot holes I really think this series has improved a lot since its pilot! This episode was terrific for a number of reasons. Not only did we get to see a lot more of Astrid, but the plot really moved forward for certain characters. I'm guessing that Stephen will have to face the consequences at Ultra. I don't see how he'll be able to explain John saving Astrid...not even to Jedekiah and definitely not with Hillary;s overvigilance.


    My favorite scenes weredefinitely the ones with John and Astrid; I really hope we get more scenes with those two, because their chemistry was great. John's gift with people is one of the reasons I like his character so much. We've seen it in his interactions with Steve, Russell, Charlotte and even Morgan. In his conversation with Astrid, we learned more about her than we had learned in the entire season.My favorite part was when he coaxed her to talk about her bucket list.


    Other great scenes included the flashback with John and Stephen's father, the realization that Luca was starting to have powers and the scenes with Cara rescuing John and Astrid. Normally I find the actress playing Cara wooden and somewhat prickly, but in this episode, she definitely earned the award for absolute bad-assery! Also, I liked watching the expressions on John's and Cara's faces when Stephen told them about pushing his mom's boyfriend off a cliff! I still think that the powers are coming from Lucca and not his mom, mainly because they seemed to be uncontrolled and also because Stephen was able to read his mom's mind in the past without being blocked. the past.Although it's clear that his mother is hiding something from him. I can't wait for the next episode!!

    I really enjoyed the episode. Firstly the scenes between John and Astrid...the tenderness and self sacrifice really pulled at my heart strings. John was worried about keeping her calm than his own condition. I love the way the writers are slowly pulling back his layers. Secondly, Jed and john's scenes. Week after week I watch the way they portray Jed and John's relationship and I am amazed at how much love and trust there was between the two. It was reciprocal and then for it to go so bad is a tragedy in it's self...I'd expect John to be more emotionally damaged then he is but his empathy and compassion are beyond words. Jed on the other hand...is so perplexing. We know John is his achilles heel but I can't figure it out. Is his hate just that hate for John because he left and betrayed him? Or is it all bravado? The lastly John and Stephen's scene when they make a connection through Roger...maybe that''s what he always hoped for that Stephen and John would be like brothers.


    I love this show and I truly hope we get a second season !!!!!!!!!

    Love your post. I agree with all of it. Especially what you said about Astrid. We did learn more about in this episode than we have the whole season. I liked that. And iI read a few interviews yesterday, they'll definitely be more John and Astrid scenes. I also love that about John, he does get to interact with all these different characters and it works every time.

    He hasn't. She asked him this episode what was going on when he asked her if anything seemed suspicious and he blew it off to being nothing. So, no he did not tell her the seriousness of the situation. Stephen knew what would happen to a human that knew too much, and he did not tell her that.
    But again, I loved the episode because it set it up so Astrid will be more involved.
    On another note, if I saw my best friend teleport somewhere I would be pushing for the truth too.

    Idt he blew it off to be nothing. I think he was distracted. I also think he gave her warning, not so much as I would've hoped. Bat he gave a little bit of a warning, so she could be aware. Idt Stephen knew that Ultra would kill humans until this episode. But of course he wasn't going to start blabbing it from the rooftops. He gave enough warning so that she can be alert (hence the train scene).Idt he knew HOW to tell her. I mean it's not easy telling ur best friend, that you could possibly be killed within the next two days. And ALL TTP have used their powers in public. The only difference is this Hilary chic is a mole, and has a serious personal vendetta against Stephen.

    The only thing that bothered me about Astrid, is when she told John. she didn't want to be part of their world. Well their world is Stephen's world, If she sneaked around his back looking for answers (that whole club episode) and threatened that if Stephen didn't tell her the truth, she's find out on her own. Then with him coming clean, and her finding it extremely cool. Then she was in his world from the get go. But this time she's known b/c of Hilary. Not b/c of Stephen.

    John is my favorite character too and I totally agree with what you said about him. He's so sweet and empathetic and manages to bond with people quickly, even people he barely knows. He got Russell to come home and go to his dad's funeral, he taught Charlotte how to deal with her nightmares and channel her trauma into strength, he helped Astrid calm down and be focused... he's such a great guy. I wish he became the lead instead of Stephen, I find him more compelling in pretty much every way.

    Agree with all you've said. Jumping off that in regard to the "is it Luca or the mom" thing, it kinda needs to be said about Luca - Roger has two sons, but in flashbacks he talks like he only has one. Luca is never mentioned. Not once. In this episode, Roger told John he had a little boy, not two little boys. In all previous episodes with flashbacks it's been, "find my son," or "help my son." Never "sons" and I have to wonder what that's about.

    Even if she isn't a TP, she's definitely involved in this business somehow. They've alluded to that several times now. I keep amusing myself with the idea that she's actually The Founder's boss, and we'll have a season finale cliffhanger of Stephen discovering that. It would be so cliche, and yet so awesome.

    I've been waiting for someone to bring this point up for a while. For a time I wondered if it was just bad writing on the show's part (since the show hadn't won me totally yet, and I wouldn't have put it past them to overlook something like that. With Stephen of the early part of the season being almost this Gary Stu takeover character, it was easy for me to imagine the writers just forgetting to let Roger mention that he actually has two sons, not just the super important one). Now, I think there's got to be something to it.


    Roger completely talks like he only has one son. Not in a single scene or flashback has Luca even been casually mentioned by Roger. Roger left a message for Stephen, not Luca. He asked John to find and help Stephen and never even mentioned the other kid (enough to give any kid a complex). Is Luca adopted? Is he really Jed's son and they've been pretending he's their kid to protect him somehow?


    If he's a kid without powers, and it is the mom, why is she suddenly becoming sloppy in concealing them? If she is the one that pushed Stephen out of her boyfriend's head, she had to know Stephen would become suspicious of him, and that letting a camera fall to conceal powers is probably more important that saving said camera (it's not like she would be a new breakout). And letting Stephen take all those meds...


    Just speculating. :)

    Hahaha. I think with Charlotte, she'll be a little less on edge. And i'm thinking TTP will show her that it's not that bad down there. They'll make it fun for her. They do have powers after all. I'm hoping John will levitate her like he did Stephen, but in her case, he'd put her down gently. lol

    Best episode of the series yet I think. I loved both storylines and all characters here. They've finally managed to give a purpose to Astrid as well and wow, Luca breaking out adds a whole new dimension to the whole thing.

    I agree, she is definitely involved. But I don't think she has powers. The only problem I have with the theory of her being involved is that she should have recognized the signs that Stephen was breaking out earlier instead of treating him like he was crazy, no?

    I agree with you about Astrid, I actually liked her and the actress in this episode. My problem with her before was that I didn't get her purpose on the show. Maybe now we're rid of all the high school scenes? I also agree that the show is hitting its stride, I kind of always thought it would get here. People are way too harsh judging a show right away... Look at Arrow. Sure, it was nice during the first season, but personally I think it's on a whole new quality this year. Same goes for Revolution. And there are other examples. Anyway, I also agree with you that in a way it's unfortunate because it will make it harder when they cancel it :s

    Yeah, Astrid didn't have much of a purpose until now. When she first found out about Stephen, I thought she might end up playing an antagonistic role, but I'm glad it didn't go that way. That being said, next week already has Stephen dealing with The Founder to remove the target Ultra put on Astrid's back, so I don't know what her function in the story is going to be, long-term. Maybe they just want Stephen to have a friend who isn't part of the TP world.


    And Arrow is a good example of how shows can improve tremendously. S1 was entertaining at times, but I honestly wasn't sure I would even continue watching afterwards, as ridiculous as that sounds. I found it pretty mediocre on the whole. But I came back for S2 and suddenly the show just got much more magnetic. Instead of vague hints about the Undertaking while most of the action has to do with a villain-of-the-week, now we have much more meaty plotlines and almost every episode drives the narrative forward in some way. (For example: last week's A-plot was technically Bronze Tiger stealing the earthquake machine, but we also got Oliver revealing himself to Roy and inducting him into the team, Moira running for Mayor - as absurd as that is - and Sara coming back.)

    That does seem like a plot hole, but I speculated elsewhere that she kept the truth from him on purpose. It's cruel in a way, making him believe he has a psychiatric condition, but maybe she thought the meds would keep him from breaking out and was trying to protect him. Delaying the inevitable, if you will. If she knew about TTP and Ultra, then she knew that once he started using his powers, he would get on Ultra's radar. (Okay, the idea that Stephen's medication would suppress his powers is just a random idea with no basis - but maybe Marla was trying to put on a front that Stephen was crazy because she knew Ultra was watching, especially with him being Roger's son. Stephen randomly waking up in a strange couple's bed screams "teleportation" unless she tries to pass it off as a sleeping disorder, as she did. Of course, it was only a matter of time before Ultra was on to him anyway.)

    I don't think they've stated Luca's age. He looks 13-16 to me. it's always a problem with these things because the actor that plays Luca is the right age for the character, while Robbie Amell is obviously a few good years older than Stephen's supposed to be, so the age gap between Stephen and Luca looks bigger than it should.

    I've been waiting for Luka to break out and it's finally happening. But I don't think we've seen the last of Peter yet. And I loved how Jedikiah put Hilary in her place. "If I say yes and you smile, you're next." She needs to go, I can't stand her.

    She would know Jedikiah is the enemy but probably play dumb. If she refused to invite him into the house in the Pilot, warned him to stay the hell away from Stephen and such, he would know she's standing between him and Stephen and that could put her in danger. Alternately, Jed could try to turn Stephen against her in such a scenario (saying she wants to deny Stephen his powers and real identity, blah blah). She couldn't fight Jed, he's got all of Ultra behind him, so the only recourse would've been to go on the run and it's unlikely they would've managed to do so for long. So right now, she's pretending she has no idea what Stephen is really doing for Jedikiah, while biding her time trying to come up with a plan. She did warn Jed that she'll be watching him during Stephen's "internship" with him, but if she knows what's going in she didn't give it away.


    Okay, that's all crazy theorizing and I'm sure it doesn't make sense in a lot of ways, heh. I really can't wait until we find out what her deal is. The more plot and mythology driven this show gets and the less it deals with high school shenanigans and love triangles, the better it becomes.

I don't know who she thinks she is to get so arrogant with the Boss, demand to know how Ultra operates and even allude to Jed favoring his nephew over others? She's lucky she got away with merely a figurative slap on the wrist.

    Sadly, things seem to be going that way, yes. It's too bad TV is such a cutthroat business: if you can't find a sizable audience within your first few episodes, you're pretty much screwed even if your show gets MUCH better afterwards. However, most shows do take time to get *really* good because they have to set up the story and characters at first. Growing pains are inevitable. I think shows that manage to succeed are often helped by outside factors that draw people in regardless of the early episodes' quality: for example, TVD launched at just the right time to capitalize on the Twilight vampire craze, Arrow had a huge built-in audience from both Smallville and DC Comics fans.

    I wouldn't include Smallville in Arrow's built-in audience. I saw more viewers at other forums that avoided Arrow for a while due to being burned by Smallville than people who decided to watch Arrow because of Smallville.
    Personally, I stopped watching Smallville after the premiere of it S2 and never came back..
    Also, I loved Arrow from the beginning and think it found its way at episode 1.14 last season and has continued in the same rate since (except for some storylines like the trial and now Moira running for mayor..)

    For me, as long as the ratings keep going up either if it's Wed. Or Mon. Then that's good enough for me. My hopes aren't up too high, but i have some hope. Can't help it.

    But the thing is, Arrow probably wouldn't have even gotten made if it hadn't been for Smallville. Green Arrow isn't a particularly notorious superhero - outside of DC fans, most people wouldn't be interested in a show about him. But since Smallville, as bad as it might have been at times, was a huge hit (it lasted a decade, and even when it ended, that was due to the star not wanting to continue rather than low ratings) - thus introducing Oliver Queen/GA to millions of viewers. I don't think message boards are a good indicator of how Smallville effects Arrow's viewership, because while many people who post on them thought Smallville was crap (especially comic readers who nitpick to death), they're but a fraction of all the people who watched Smallville over the years. Some probably continue to discover it via Netflix these days.

    I think it's a good thing to maintain some hope, I think I kind of avoid it so that the let down in case the worst happens is not as big. Let's hope for the best this week!

    I don't think Arrow was made because of Smallville and I think we would've reached the era of comic book based shows either way.

    This era isn't the exclusive result of Smallville, obviously, but I see no reason to assume Green Arrow in particular would've gotten his own series if the character hadn't gained massive exposure (and popularity) from that show. There are hundreds of comic book characters who could star in their own show, and GA isn't a huge one like Batman or Superman. Even The Flash, who's more famous than GA, was "tested" on Arrow first, and if the reaction had been negative I doubt they would've moved forward with ordering a pilot for a Flash show (at least with the same actor).

    It would be interesting if they revealed Luca was adopted somehow. If he was Jed's kid (that's way fun to imagine) but I'm not sure how sticking him with Stephen's family would protect him... unless it was just to get him with Marla who could take the kids away from Ultra's eye when Roger left. Hmm. Warming up to this idea.

    I think the exposure from Smallville only hurt Arrow at the beginning because of all the compraisons and I think Green Arrow was chosen because he is not as popular and so he's more of an open book. They could do what they want with this character and he was most similar to Batman, hence them choosing it, not thanks to Smallville.

    Hmmm... that IS interesting, the flashback with Roger and young John this week was the first time it stood out to me that Roger referred to one son only. I'm trying to remember how old Stephen was when his father left. I'm pretty sure this was a few years after Luca was born, so that had to have happened while Marla and Roger were still together. Now, even if he was the product of an affair Marla had, presumably Roger wouldn't know that and believe Luca is his, so why act like he only has one son? You could be onto something here and if so, I'm curious.

    WORD about John, he's such a sweetheart. Every week I find myself loving him even more. He just radiates goodness and compassion towards others, yet he isn't Gary Stu perfect - he has screwed up plenty of times, with all of his lies.


    And very interesting point about Jed and John's relationship... perhaps Jed was less evil before, but having the agent he cared for so much turn on him shut down his capacity to have any sort of emotional tie to others. Now he views everyone at Ultra as lowly minions, to be killed the second they stop being useful.
