The side effects on Stiles are really hurting him the most out of Scott and Allison. I loved Papa Stilinski holding Stiles down and trying to calm him down after his nightmare. That was great. I love their father/son relationship.
I already love the new character Kira and I'm glad she was being helpful to them. Can't wait to find out more about her and her father!
Also, a big f*** you to Scott's dad for trying to get Papa Stilinski fired. Not cool.
I also loved all the scenes where Mama McCall was in. I love her so much. She continues to be awesome.
And you just gotta love seeing snarky Peter at the end there. Love it.
One thing I did not like in this episode was the whole Allison/Isaac thing. God, I hate it so much and I really don't want it to become a reality. Stay the hell away, Isaac!!
I agree with patriotfall that the side effects are hurting Stiles the most of the 3 - but personally, I find Allison's hallucinations are the creepiest.
Loved Mama McCall - The "Be your own anchor" was perfect parent advice. On Papa McCall - I hope that they give him some redeeming qualities.
People taking aggression out on Isaac is getting old. Really? Hit a kid with issues of abuse? That's real healthy for him. Just not digging anyone on the show being continually used as a punching bag (Isaac, Derek and Jackson).
Last note - I felt really bad for Kira when her dad called her out like that. Poor girl.
Everyone has is opinion but at least explain why you didn't like it ! I'm sorry but I don't understand how you see this episode as poor ? I mean right from the beginning the new threat is set they didn't "tourner autour du pot" and we finally get to see the side effect of what they've done to save their parents. I mean the ways they put each three character faced with their own worst fear because of the door they opened in their mind is brilliant ! At the end there are so many questions to be answered which only makes us want to see more. I'm looking forward to see this.
The Issac/Allison stuff is beyond annoying, I hope they don't drag that into next season. Kira is pretty hot and I'm looking forward to the Kitsune storyline.
It was good episode. I can see this being more of a Stiles centric season and I like that idea. I am excited for when Scott's dad find out what Scott is, I don't think will be to happy and if they go where I think they will then his dad will try to kill him but we will just have to watch and see. I am not sure what to think about Kira and her dad yet, will be good to see what their roles will be in the season. The whole Allison/Isaac love thing needs to go away. I don't want them together. I don't know what it is yet but I just don't fully trust Isaac yet. Seeing Derek get tortured breaks my heart. Overall it was a good opening to the rest of the season.
first thoughts of the episode… 'I have never wanted to hug Stiles more." and "Dang, they put the damned tattoo in the credits." :-D
And the WORST FATHER EVER award goes to...Really Dad? Really? Embarrassing your daughter in class *that's* how you decide to help? He actually beat out Scott's dad in this episode.
I can't help but feel like Stiles is yanking dream rules out of thin air. I mean who could blame him because he feels like he's losing his grip on reality. But then again, while I've suffered sleep paralysis it has never occurred to me to try and read or count my fingers in my dream.
I need to re-watch the ep, but I thought it made for an awesome return. I love that they decided to bring Scott's dad back into Scott's life by adding yet another sense of conflict.
Loved Melissa's reaction to Scott throwing Isaac out of his room. LOL.
Knew Malia was going to turn out to be a werewolf...wonder if the fact that she's actually a shapeshifter connects to Derek's mother at all.
I think it was in the commentary for season 1 but somewhere I heard the showrunner discussing the fact that he likes "entrances". Every time Derek has a big entrance I remember that quote. Derek and Peter's dialog made that entrance majorly chuckleworthy.
One thing I missed...and think should have been there,.. was Allison's father. His absence was glaring to me.
The suspense really worked for me. Right now they get an awesome vote.
If I'm reading you correctly, your biggest problem was that the promos spoiled things for you? Sadly this isn't unusual, but it's not something the people running the show have a lot (if any) of control over. (A few years ago a show did a cliffhanger end to the episode and the marketing department put the resolution in the promo. Fans were livid. The showrunner explained that he was too, but neither he nor his staff created the promo. )
Actually Kira's dad isn't the worst father ever not by a long shot doesn't matter if he embarrassed her or not. Malia is actually a werecoyote and if that really is her it looks like she killed someone.
Actually, concerning the dream rules, it's quite common. especially while lucid dreaming. It's one of the techniques to tell the dream from reality. It's often impossible to read (the text will often be a gibberish, blurry) or look at a watch, because the digits often appear to be disorted or just straight-out making no sense.
Watched the post show and all of the actors are repeating themselves (almost verbatim) in every interview regarding the "love triangle." But then the promo for this season showed Kira/Scott, Isaac/Allison, and then Scott and Allison holding hands? Uh okay.
This was a great start to the season and I did enjoy the introduction of Kira -- she seems like a much more balanced character for Scott to interact with than Allison. (Although I rolled my eyes at Allison giving a 'look' at Scott when he knew who Kira was -- again, no love triangle? Uh huh.)
Everyone seems annoyed with Isaac being the punching bag for the other character which is definitely warranted but at the same time Stiles' line about Isaac milking his abuse pointed out the fact that Isaac actually serves no purpose for the storyline.
Furthermore, am I the only one who thinks that 'dream' Lydia was more than something else? Maybe something to do with her banshee abilities trying to prevent Stiles from opening the door?
Much more interested in the dreams, hallucinations, etc. than the werecoyote storyline. Also cannot wait to see Lydia and Peter team up.
Yes I remember having a /slightly/ lucid dream, I was in a library and saw this really really cool, old book, I tried reading it, but I couldn't. I could see there were words on the page, but I couldn't SEE them or read it, it was very, very very upsetting in a strange way.
With regard to Malia (if it is her) the way I read the story, she was turned in crash. If she has killed I wouldn't, at this point, hold it against her. She would have found herself alone in the wilderness and ended up operating on instinct. Though I'd bet a nickel that, when all is said and done, she hasn't killed anyone. My thinking being that she's a victim...and I don't think the showrunner is going to make a 9 year old victim a villain.
My question about her shifting into the animal completely still stands. They've stated that that is an extremely rare ability for shiters (werewolves at least) so I'm really curious about where that leads.
I'm not sure if what I do is technically lucid dreaming or not. I am able to craft and alter most of my dreams. (by alter I mean that I've decided to stop dreaming dreams I do not like.) I am aware of my dreams. Recently, I commented to myself about the fact that I crafted such a vivd face when it was of someone I'd never seen before. I'm told that that kind of control/awareness is rare but I don't know if that's the same as lucid dreaming. (I smell research in my evening. :-) But there's never been anything in my dreams that required reading so I've never tested that theory.
I find it all fascinating and hope it does come from actual research. Just makes it cooler.
Closest book dream I ever had was a 3D version of "The Little Tin Soldier". There was an evil Jack in the Box in there. I dreamt about that Jack in the Box. I remember opening my eyes and it was sitting on the edge of my sister's bed glaring down at me. I decided if I pretended to still be asleep it wouldn't bother me. When I woke up it was gone.
Yeah, I believe the Werecoyote that attacked them turned her. Just because Malia killed someone doesn't make them a villain and she probably didn't kill anyone I guess Werecoyote's eye colors would be different but not really sure yet.
She really looks more like a wolf than a coyote to me but I wouldn't put money on my ability to tell the two animals apart. :-)
I got confused about the eye color. I cannot for the life of me remember if Derek's eyes turned blue after he killed his girlfriend or not.
You might be right about her not being able to shift back but what was twigging in my mind was the fact that they said, in Visionary, that the ability to shift to an actual wolf was exceedingly rare. So, I figure it will mean something that she's a wolf but I don't know what it means. I'm intrigued.
Oh, and I came up with a new theory. What if Malia was bitten before the accident. No one knew what had happened to her....maybe they thought just a dog bite. The full moon came and she changed in the car. It's just a thought but it could explain the scratches and bite marks on her mother and sister. It could also explain (if blue eyes mean killer) her eyes being blue.
Derek's eyes turned blue after he killed Paige. Yeah, I know it's rare but even Peter was able to turn but it didn't exactly look right but at least he could turn into one unlike Derek. I don't know how they'll do the werecoyote mythology and I'm actually surprised that nobody has seen Malia all this time unless some people have and they just thought she was a regular coyote. Yeah, I thought about that as well while watching the episode.
question: is it possible for one's subconcious to say something in sign language that is actual sign language, instead of bogus hand movements, when said person doesn't know sign language? cuz i'm about 110% sure that one's subconcious only processes and alters and mixmatches things one already knows. so. who/what is giving Stiles riddles?
My first thought when I saw Malia is how in the world is she a werecoyote? I can't wait to hear the story behind that. How can she shift? Does she age? Who changed her? What other werewolf family is there?
I loved the premiere. It had a pretty good balance of humor & the mention of Jackson in the premiere keeps his memory alive.
The parents really showed their comforting sides. Love Mama McCall. Her speech to Scott was the best. Be your own anchor & teenagers fall in & out of love a lot. That was much needed. Papa Stillinski with Stiles having nightmares & asking Scott to help him find out the truth about Malia was good. For some reason I forgot he now knows the truth.
What's with Scotts dad? Does he live in the McCall's household? Does he not know of the supernatural activities going on around him. I sure hope he's not there to be a big pest!!!
Will be interesting to see what this season brings...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm so glad the show is back! I missed it.
ReplyDeletePoor Stiles, Scott, Allison, and Derek. Ugh at Scott's father. He really, really sucks and needs to go away.
Great start to the season.
Awful
ReplyDeleteI can see you put a lot of thought into that opinion. -_-
ReplyDeleteWoah, that premiere was scary as hell. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteThe side effects on Stiles are really hurting him the most out of Scott and Allison. I loved Papa Stilinski holding Stiles down and trying to calm him down after his nightmare. That was great. I love their father/son relationship.

Lol, I just found it poor planning to spoil their ending, repeatedly, by promoing the stuffing out of it!
ReplyDeleteI agree with patriotfall that the side effects are hurting Stiles the most of the 3 - but personally, I find Allison's hallucinations are the creepiest.
ReplyDeleteLoved Mama McCall - The "Be your own anchor" was perfect parent advice. On Papa McCall - I hope that they give him some redeeming qualities.

ReplyDelete…My only problem with the episode, was that it was too short. Now the wait for the next episode, which shall be painful no doubt.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the writers abandon the love triangle bits.
ReplyDeleteThe Issac/Allison stuff is beyond annoying, I hope they don't drag that into next season. Kira is pretty hot and I'm looking forward to the Kitsune storyline.

ReplyDeleteIt was amazing! Freaking horror show lol. Only too less Peter and Derek :(
ReplyDeletePoor Stiles!! I loved it! Sorry can anyone tell me who the blue eyes wolf Scott chased was?
ReplyDeletefirst thoughts of the episode… 'I have never wanted to hug Stiles more." and "Dang, they put the damned tattoo in the credits." :-D

ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the werecoyote was Malia Tate we'll just have to wait to find out.
ReplyDeleteIf he didn't want to see some scenes of this second half of the season he shouldn't of watched the trailer but it's not like it spoiled much.
ReplyDeleteActually, concerning the dream rules, it's quite common. especially while lucid dreaming. It's one of the techniques to tell the dream from reality. But i missed Derek!!!
ReplyDeleteThey showed the ending in the commercial break for the episode
ReplyDeleteThe fears of each character were not brilliant, with the exception of Allison. Scott being afraid of him wolfing out is so reductive for his character
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna take a wild guess here.: This season's gonna be about shape-shifters (Malia and the new family)
ReplyDeleteWell the tattoo is in the credits for 3A too. :) Both Scott's and Derek's are in both 3A and 3B. :)
ReplyDeleteYes I remember having a /slightly/ lucid dream, I was in a library and saw this really really cool, old book, I tried reading it, but I couldn't. I could see there were words on the page, but I couldn't SEE them or read it, it was very, very very upsetting in a strange way.

True. Issac's father actually holds that title.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to Malia (if it is her) the way I read the story, she was turned in crash. If she has killed I wouldn't, at this point, hold it against her. That's great for you but for me, it took out any of the mystery of where Derek and Peter because oh look they're right there
ReplyDeleteA great start to what looks like an amazing season.
