    There were some parts I laughed so hard at. Lol at the Mrs. Hudson thinking John and Sherlock were a couple. And I can't wait to see "Shave for Sherlock" T Shirts.

    I really liked it. Loved Sherlocks' sillouhette in the window when he first went to visit Mrs Hudson, great nod to the books.

    Oh my god i laughed many times but also cried and.... Oh god. It was a great episode :) but i still think... Is that REALLY how Sherlock survived?

    I am so glad John punched him quite a few times! I was expecting another one after he tricked him on the tube as well. I need to watch it again to really take it all in but its great to have the show back.

    The way i understood it, at the end when he was talking with Anderson, Anderson basically said 'if that's REALLY how it happened, why would you tell ME?' But Sherlock had gone. I gathered from that that it was another lie, like the other 2 examples they showed during the ep. (loved the fanfic inspired one) Methinks they're gonna troll us in the next 2 episodes with all the theories everyone had, and say it's none of them.

    All the hype leading up to it, it didn't really let us down.
    I gave it a top rating, even though I felt it was a tad imperfect at times, but it was so close I cant give it just a "good" rating.
    Love the fact that Sherlock admitted that Molly was important to him.
    They did a spectacular job pulling us back in.

    The theory he told the guy from his fan club was almost 1:1 the same theory fans put online after the last episode had aired back then. I'm sure that was a nod to all the fans who were as eager to find out how he did it. Then, we got two more versions as well in the episode, and I'm sure none of them all are the "true" one, but come on, "crap"? The one in the end was pretty logical and possible to pull off, what was so crappy about it? What was your theory? What would be a great explanation? =)

    Yet again, they've outdone themselves. A BRILLIANT episode, and I don't use this word often. Also, it was easily the funniest episode to date. Emmy and Golden Globe awards for the leading couple!


    I also personally cannot wait for BBC to make a "Shave for Sherlock" shirt. Brilliant.

    I think the point was that after two years of speculating, the fans weren't ready to accept the simple explanation...and the writers knew that. So they dealt with it this way. I go for the last one. Honestly, I only wanted to know if Mycroft was involved and when exactly the plan started. I wonder though...what happened to Moriarty's body?

    It's undeniable that the fans liked it, but episode-wise... was there even a plot? I just felt like I was watching a really-really long trailer. And personally, I didn't like the amount of fanservice, I just feel it's not respectful. Sorry for being a party-breaker, but... I just feel sad and betrayed and confused, most of all. I'd really like to see an article which deals with the problems of this ep and analyze them.

    A great explanation would be to give an original explanation. I don't feel that using fan-theories is a nod to the fan, I feel... they're just using us, I don't know how to put it. When you're a screenwriter, it's your job to come up with plots, solutions and ideas. Not noting down the fandom's ideas and then get paid for it.

    What can you do if the fans already guessed how it was done? After all, there really not that many possible ways to fall from a roof and survive. The writer's recognized that no matter what, the fans would be disappointed...I think their solution to the dilemma was quite clever.

    It wasn't even an hour and a half! It was an hour and 25 minutes!!! They stole five minutes from us! (That was really the worst part about it).

    Sorry you feel that way . Personally I had no issues with the episode , it had to deal with the past and lay down the foundations of the future sl and I felt that it achieved that .

    I only see one real problem with the episode, and that was how some of the scenes were arranged/cut together. Some of the jumps (especially the last one to Anderson) made it look a little bit disjointed. But otherwise, every puzzle piece fit together, and I am glad that they took their time to re-establish the relationships between the various characters...not just between Sherlock and Co, but also between John and Mrs.Hudson aso.

    Amazing episode!! I didn't find any fault in it. I'm ok with them not explaining how Sherlock survived, which i didn't think i would be but the way they were joking/misleading us was hillarious and possibly more fun to watch than a simple explanation.

    What swanpride already replied; also, you have to stay in the realm of realism, and original or not - would you have prefered if the writers said he died and was reawakened by some ancient spirit or magic? I doubt it =) at least they came up with three different solutions (alright, some were only meant for fun), but as swanpride said, they aren't at fault if the fans were right - and I still say it, they haven't shown us the real solution yet. And if they have, I can accept that happily because it's not exactly the focus of the new episodes to reveal how he survived the last one.

    You're right in the sense that the episode felt really disjointed and hard to follow plot-wise, I think they could have done that better, but I can forgive them because the episode had so many good scenes, out of order/context or not, that I still had quite a blast for the one and half hours =)

    I'm going to go out on a limb and say the fact that they didn't explain fully how Sherlock faked his death was one of the best things they could have done. Explaining would have come off as being too Deus ex machina.

    I thought I'd be the only only who felt this way, it was all very bitty imo and didn't hold together as well as I'd hope it would. I'm not the biggest fan of Gatiss's writing thou; his previous 2 episodes are my least favourite of the series and I find his DW ones very hit and miss too, which might be the problem for me.

    I really liked the third explanation, especially because clever fans were able to pick up the clues and figure it out. Sherlock was playing with a stress ball. That was the clue. No regular viewer would be able to figure that out. They also made use of the Homeless Network, Molly and the screaming girl. If they had gone with the mask thing (or whatever), THAT would have been disappointing because there was no reason at all for us to believe that was how it happened.


    All that's assuming that Sherlock's explanation was the ''true'' answer. The episode ended with John asking him, suggesting that there could still be more to it.

    I personally think not providing a clear explanation to how Sherlock survived was the way to go... this way it is kept open to interpretation for the audience...just to make our heads spin a little more, 3 probable scenarios were laid out...I'm okay with that...lol
    Overall... it was a good episode... but seemed a little disjointed at certain times.. there wasn't a very elaborate plot but I can understand that since a lot of character resolution needed to be done from last season...ground work has been laid in this episode and I am sure the remaining 2 are going to be crackers...

    Amazing come-back, I'd missed him so much! Bennedict Cumberbatch is just amazing and Martin freeman is great as well. Laughed my ass off in so many scenes, the Holmes family dynamic is just priceless, love it, love them all.

    IMHO not the best Sherlock episode ever. Not because it sucked, but simply because the prievous ones set the bar so high it would have to be perfect.

    Not quite up to season 1 & 2 standard. But still WAY better than anything else around *g* A few niggles re plot and character behaviour.

    But my main problems were the bomb with an off switch, REALLY! Where did the terrorist get it ACME!!! I didnt like that whole scene in the train at all. And they overdid the "how did he do it" senario.
