  1. After the last two episode that was... wow, I don't even know what to say!

  2. It was too freaking awesome for words!!! #MoriartyLives

  3. That was the best episode of the series so far. Talk about suspense!

  4. That episode just left me speechless for so many reasons.

  5. Well, I still wish they'd killed Mary, but then, assasin!Mary considerably mitigates the risk of this becoming a family sitcom (although, I'll still be pissed when the inevitable Sherlock-in-babysitting gags commence). Everything else was perfect, though! And Moriarty! I don't think he really is alive (we would've gotten an actual shot of him, then, not just this deliciously creepy animation). Still, a potential season of Moriarty flashbacks/Mind Palace!Moriarty? The Sign of Three is forgiven!

  6. So happy Mary is alive and still awesome and now she can solve more crimes with John and Sherlock and yay for once a non stressful cliffhanger

  8. Really? I might've missed it in my excitement :P

  9. Hehe... and they said to stay after the credits ;) but I understand the excitement:P

  10. DID YOU MISS ME? omg!

I think Moriarty isn't alive, but someone is trying to make people believe he is, because Sherlock was being locked up otherwise. but who knows, with this fandom we have, they might just bring him back to life.

  11. I honestly think that was my favourite episode of Sherlock. It gave me chills.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It was brilliant from start to finish!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, me too...at least I hope so. I really don't want Moriarty back. I was quite satisfied with him dead...I think it is a scheme either of Mycroft or Irene (I considered Mary, too, but she looked honestly surprised).

  14. Brilliant!! Simply the best episode of Sherlock!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I doubt it was Mycroft, and seeing Adler back... would be a blast, but improbable. I think he is, somehow, alive. We have yet to have an explanation of what happened on the roof AFTER Sherlock "died", so he might as well be alive.

What I really hope is for them to do another 3 episodes this next Christmas... not in 2015.

  16. Bloody brilliant, although season premier was my favorite :)

  17. Amazing episode, as always. Maybe the best Sherlock episode. A clap for Benedict Cumberbatch, Marin Freeman, Andrew Scott and all the cast for the amazing performances!!! I loved every scenes. Poor Sherlock and John. And I screamed at the final scenes.... see you guys till Sherlock series 4!

  18. In the book series, both Sherlock and Moriarty fell off of a cliff and both survived the fall. However, in a press interview, they said that Moriarty was really dead. Not sure if they were just playing with us and he is alive or if you are right. I am leaning on you being right.

  19. I can't even begin to describe how out of character John Watson was. Basically, he didn't miss Sherlock, his friend, he missed the cases. He missed being out of the civilian life. Like an addict. Then, he forgives Mary Morstan, who happens to be a woman who kills for money, and lied about absolutely everything so far, but he believes her, because she says she loves him. Very conceivable. She lied about her own name, but she says she loves him, so that part must be truth. She shot his best friend, and even if he believed that she didn't shoot to kill (which is obviously a lie from Sherlock), he saw that she was willing to kill Sherlock later. He saw it.

But he forgives her. Now, I know people are saying that if he forgave Sherlock, he should forgive Mary, but seriously, NOTHING Sherlock has EVER done compares to killing for money. Lying about his whole life. Shooting his best friend, the very best friend that when she met him, he was crying over.

And in the end, John is about to say goodbye to Sherlock, who's never going to see him again, and there's no sign of a single tear in his eye? "I don't know what to say"???? HOW ABOUT I'M GONNA MISS YOU? THANK YOU FOR GIVING AWAY YOUR WHOLE LIFE FOR MY HAPPINESS??

I loved the episode, I truly did. What I didn't like was John Watson. And I hate to hate John Watson.

  20. I think he missed Sherlock AND the action though, you have to remember that he has lived without Sherlock for three years so one month is not that much you know, and he technically was also on his honeymoon so I don't think you can blame him for not missing Sherlock yet.Forgiving Mary was a bit weird, but on the other hand like everyone says he does forgive Sherlock as well(he's the kind of person to forgive almost anything from his loved ones), it did take quite a few months I think since she is very pregnant at Christmas and not before that and she is the mother of his unborn child as well... The end was typical Sherlcok and John, crying would not have been appropriate really, the eyes are all that count, and you could just see how they felt they didn't had to say it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We haven't seen proof that he missed Sherlock, just the action. You have to remember that it was actually two years, not three, and goddamn it, he's his best friend, NOT ONE SINGLE PHONE CALL?? No, I think one month is a lot. I don't think that forgiving Sherlock means he has to forgive Mary, because what she did was much worse. It took 6 months, that's said. But we haven't seen anything of what happened in those 6 months and I still think that time doesn't makes you forgive people. What they did doesn't get better with time. She was a killer six months ago, she's still a killer now.
And no, I didn't want crying and whatever, but if John cried at his best man's speech, you'd expect at least a little more emotion. And no, I don't think their eyes said anything. Well, at least not John's. I think it was very out of character. A man who could barely enter the house where he lived with Sherlock while he was dead, and now he's saying goodbye forever AGAIN and seriously, just... nothing? No, I won't try to find excuses for this. It was a mistake, Moffucked.

  22. each his own view I guess, though for the point that he believes Mary loves him, she does say so to Sherlock when she didn't know that it was actually John in the chair when she does her confession so he does know that she honestly loves him.

And by the way we don't see him phoning Sherlock during the month, we technically don't know if he never did in that month just because it's not shown doesn't mean it didn't happen.

She wasn't a killer six months ago, she had stepped out of that live already and I guess you see it differently but in real life time does let you forgive people, at least it does for me so it's not that weird that it does for John as well.
I think the goodbye was easier now for John because he at least knew Sherlock was alive and not dead, big difference.

    ReplyDelete
  23. though you know it would be interesting to see what the effect of all this is on John, I think he has had to deal with a great deal and you can see a bit that he is struggling with it all. I found Sherlock's speech in the flat when John found out a bit insulting, yes he likes danger and all but he knew the truth about Sherlock and everybody else when he met them not about Mary.So to say that he chooses people based on action is very insulting I think, like he said she wasn't supposed to be like that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. She says that to Sherlock, but honestly, we don't even know who she is or what she's running from! Also, that's another thing: she hasn't abandoned her life as a killer, she is running. She has a fake identity to run away, not to start a new life. And when she needed, she had her complete set of equipment to go and kill someone. And we do know that John didn't call him, he didn't even know where he was, he said it had been ages since they knew from each other.
You forgive with time if it's something that can be forgiven. I don't think Mary should be forgiven.

  26. It was how tv should be written .

  27. …this was my reaction. "WTF?!" , "Holy F***ing Sh*t!", **Feels Overload** followed by *Holy F***ing Sh*t! OMFG! WTF!" …pretty much in that order. Bloody brilliant episode!

    ReplyDelete
  28. oh I do agree with certain points: I wish we had seen more of Johns reaction to it all I was missing that aspect, especially to Sherlock dying and to everything with Mary. And although I defend the episode because I loved it, weirdly enough, and I will probably be the only one here, I did want Mary to die actually so that Sherlock and John would be back the next episode, I don't want anything with a baby in it. So on some points I do agree with you and the post you shared.

  29. Well...there is always Moriarty's brother....

  30. The end where Sherlock takes the fall again for his friends and loved ones safety reminded me of the Dark Knight ending speech from Gorden. Hes England's watchful guardian, it's protector, it's Dark Knight. He'll do anything to insure his friends safety and well being. Ohh, and welcome back Moreiarty you old snake.

  31. I enjoyed the entire episode except for the part where they addressed Magnussen's leverage plot. What that told me was Magnussen outfoxed him with the mind palace thing and Sherlock didn't have any explanation for it. Which means, for the first time in the series, there was someone cleverer than Sherlock, and Sherlock got defeated in the mind games by the " bad guy ". So, he took the easier route and killed him. That to me was a surprise and showed Sherlock isn't unconquerable after all.

  32. "and even if he believed that she didn't shoot to kill"
you did saw the flashback and you do know about the human body right? If you want ppl to shut up you shoot them in the head and if you want to be sure you pop a few in the heart aswell. Since Mary neither shot Sherlock in the heart or head I think we can safely assume she didn't try to kill him (specially since we know Mary was an professional assassin for the CIA)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Moriarty doesn't survive the fall in the books if I remember correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  34. yes, thank you Sherlock! cuz if he blackmails the whole planet, and he has zero proof, but it's all in his head, someone blowing his brains out is the freaking logical solution. that guy was talking and talking and i was wondering at 1. how stupid can he be for a so called genius? no proof? and he admitted to it? and 2. why is he still alive? and then Sherlock did use that gun and i could go 'yep'.

    ReplyDelete
  35. He admitted to it because he figured that Sherlock was not a murderer. Remember the guy is good at reading people. Much less did he ever imagine that he would shoot him in front of the police. And he was right. Sherlock normally wouldn't do that. He acted out of character because of his vow for John and Mary. You're not understanding the power this guy had over everyone. Let's take a real life example of the press printing Michael Jackson molesting young boys. There was no proof he did but guess how many people ate up that story like it was the absolute truth? A lot of people. And Michael Jackson was pretty loved throughout the world. Print stories that are dirt on politicians? Oh boy... The reason he stayed alive for so long because he likely helped get that "There is a bunch of proof buried somewhere" thing. Basically everyone likely thought that the truth would get out after his death and if there really was proof, they'd be suspects. That's really the genius of his plan. Remember he runs the newspapers. Remember how much Sherlock himself got destroyed in the media because of Moriarty? And that was just one reporter's work in the news.

  36. I agree. Sherlock would know about a third brother.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Heard that magnasson was intending to play the victim and make Sherlock and John suffer the consequences for selling secrets. Sherlock didn't want John to suffer and of course having a wife and a baby on the way that wouldn't be right. He takes it on himself so John and Mary wont have to have more grief on themselves just starting out.

  38. It might have been Sherlock together with Wiggins... or perhaps just Wiggins??:P

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maybe Sherlock created the illusion that Moriarty is alive...it did get him back to the country. Moriarty can't be alive.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think it's more likely to either be his brother (Colonel James Moriarty), or a trick by the third Holmes brother in order to keep Sherlock in the country.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Or the other brother Mycroft refernenced

    ReplyDelete
  42. He's called Sherrinford - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_Sherlock_Holmes_characters#Sherrinford_Holmes

    ReplyDelete
  43. When it comes to this being an intrigue to keep Sherlock in the country, I'm betting on Mycroft, Sherlock IS his weakness, afterall, and I do believe Mycroft wants to keep him alive more than anything. this would also explain why he came up with the plan to send him to eastern Europe instead of prison, I didn't believe for a second he wanted him sent for certain death.

    ReplyDelete
  44. There is a possibility I thought about. and that is simply we didn't see things as they were but from the perspective an unreliable narrator. We "saw" Moriarty shoot himself. Or did we? We also saw Sherlock jump off the building to his death. From the perspective of just that scene alone and ignoring the very last bit where we see Sherlock at the grave, the viewers could easily be led to believe what we saw was Sherlock actually jumping and that was his actual grave. Same idea for Moriarty's "suicide".

Think about it, just from the scene of Sherlock jumping we "saw" him "die". Time wise and scene wise we didn't see any of those 13 possibilities of his escape but we know he did so we know what we saw was not the truth. I doubt Sherlock created the illusion of Moriarty being alive. He was likely in custody for the whole time and doesn't have the resources to pull that stunt off even if he wasn't. I wouldn't leave out the possibility of Mycroft and this other Holmes brother however. Though I'd probably rule Mycroft out outright. No one else could really pull it off imo. The "Moriarty" on the roof could also have been a political decoy. Those guys look like and are trained to act and sound like who they are being.

To me, signs point to it being Moriarty behind it. Now whether that is from the grave or we didn't see the truth is another question.

  45. Loved it. Love that they don't have Watson do the American thing and forgive in a minute and a half. 'I've only been gone 4 minutes.' 'Hope you've learned your lesson.' I'm guessing I'm in a minority but I have really enjoyed the insight to Sherlock's family. Mom's a genius. ;-) Of course. Peeing in someone's fireplace does require maximum punishment.

  46. Oh boy did this episode make up for the first two. This was the show i fell in love with. Excellent stuff. The first two episodes had me worried they just werent Sherlock. They came across as a bit of a pastiche of itself in places, what with the bad jokes, fan pandering, bombs with off switches that wouldnt seem out of place in a Looney Tunes cartoon and silly theories. They had their moments dont get me wrong, some excellent moments, and some damn fine acting, but that was it, moments, not a full episode of excellence. But this one had it in spades.

One thing as much as I love Andrew Scott I really hope Moriarty isnt back from the dead. That would just be to much. And twisting ACD cannon to far out of shape.
