It was entertaining enough, but I'm still trying to figure out what was the point of rewriting a story that was done in the first season. I guess I'm missing something here.
I agree, I was hoping it was going to end up being a dream of some sort, which would explain why characters like Ray Wise's judge and Woody's doctor were in the episode in roles not really anywhere near what they are in the show. Same with Ralph Maccio and I am sure there ma have been a few I missed. In the end when it turned out to just end I was left confused as to how any of it made sense using actors playing different characters than we have become accustomed too. Cloudy...With a Chance of Murder is one of my all-time favourite Psych episodes and I just don't think that this remake did the original episode justice.
They just managed to ruin one of my favourite episodes for me.... I mean there is a reason why remakes rarely work, and making a deliberately bad one was more uncomfortable than funny for me. If anything, this episode served to show what has been gone wrong with Psych - The original episode had humour, but it was also a genuine case, with a real investigation (which didn't involve Shawn jumping to conclusions - instead he was sure that the rival didn't do it, but used his hatred to plant a seed of doubt) and an good solution. Now it is only about gags and pop culture commentary - there is no substance left to the show. This made me sad. It made me really, really sad. I wanted to stuck around till the end since I do see it coming (honestly, how long do they intend to drag this out?), but I am not sure if I will be able to stomach this any longer.
i personally loved the original episodes, but I could see why they did a remake. They added stuff that wasn't in the original and I think the guest stars were an interesting touch. Every Psych fan knew they were past guest stars, so it was like a nod to the fans, and the guest stars were way better actors than the original people cast. This version was also more laugh out loud funny than I think the original was. Although the remake wasn't necessary, it was a fun spin on an interesting storyline
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteGreat Fun. Shawn was at his zaniest and I loved the stall done by Gus.
ReplyDeleteThat was the point. Remakes are a bad idea.
