I missed pretty much everything because of a stupid mandatory dorm meeting where I learned everything I already knew before, but I caught the last part. Penny and Luke! I love it. Great names.
And oh crap at Lily bolting at the end. That isn't going to end well.
Great episode! Both funny and emotional...that fight was super intense between Marshall and Lily. The PLEASE acronym was very clever as well, although I think randomly throwing in the fact that Robin is apparently filthy rich was pretty stupid. Still, I hope they can keep up with at least this quality for the rest of the season!
And Luke and Penny...glad to see one got the Star Wars name! Both would have been too obvious, so good choices!
So pleasantly surprised by how good this episode was! Both very funny and deeply touching. Marshall and Lily's fight was kinda tense, but it was interesting. The flashforwards with Ted and the Mother were so sweet!
And, I will say this, I really, REALLY loved Barney in this episode, more than I have for a while.
This was way, way better than last weeks episode 100% loved the whole thing. I feel terrible about Marshall and Lily I get why Marshall's still not okay about Lily moving to SF but it's really sad that Lily left with this unresolved. We know Lily's at the wedding but she should've stayed and worked it out with Marshall instead of leaving.
Barney, the revenge of Barney Stinson was just priceless to see. Sometime you never forget what happens in your life and for Barney this was something he was harboring for along time. I'm so happy that he's satisfied and happy about his life and that Robin makes him happy it's great to see.
The kids names I love them both I think Penny and Luke are really great names. I can see that Penny's name is related to Ted's love for pennies and Luke is related to Star Wars since he loves it.
Great episode one of the best this season I am bummed about not having a promo but great episode.
LOL. I was going to go for "Penelope Leia" originally because it fit better (I'm writing a fic now about said headcanon. Oops), but I don't want to ruin the meaning of Penny (Ted's lucky penny a few seasons ago) so I'm sticking with it.
Oh Barney' Revenge .. yes he is totally awesome... I loved that scene and the call back. I hope Marshall and Lily have another round as it is interesting to see them have a real confrontation it's been a while! I hope next one will be much much better.
Pretty good episode. There were plenty of funny moments.
Glad we finally got to Marshall/Lily's fight. I'm completely on Marshall's side on this. Lily has been and is being pretty selfish, and her running away unable to confront that is not helping her case.
I like that we finally found out what Barney's job is. While I maybe would have liked it to be something a bit more interesting, how it is utilized by Barney (a way to screw over the guy who stole his girlfriend) was great and perfectly suited for Barney.
But as amazing as the scenes between Ted and the Mother are (still the best scenes of the season), they leave me wanting so much more that it reignites my contempt for the wedding season thing. Why couldn't we just have had this for 3 episodes, then the rest of the season dedicated to Ted and the Mother's relationship and seeing it blossom instead of getting nice moments that feel a bit hollow.
This just occurred to me - wouldn't it be super cool if in the next episode we found out it was the mother who had lost the old penny on the subway, thus causing all the events in Lucky Penny and ultimately making Ted stay in New York?
I'm gonna go out against the popular theory here, that Penny is named after the Lucky Penny, and theorize that she's actually named after a close relative of the mother!
Great episode. Mostly, because Marshall finally stood up and acted like a BIG MAN should've act. Props to marshall.
Also: does events in this episode even cover the timeline? I mean, in Trilogy Time, we had flashforward of 2015 and Ted had Penny in his arms. She was one month old, at most. So, assuming she was very young, in 2017 she would be like 2-years old or maybe 18-months old. Anyways, I think it fits and is explained properly.
It's a very hard argument because I can see both sides. Have to give Lily some credit tho because Marshall was the one who told her to quit her teaching job and follow her dream by going into art. He also told her to take the job in Italy when she had turned it down from the captain in the first place. He can't say to her she should follow her dream and then call it a "hobby" when opportunity comes up for him. I also think it was low blow that Marshall brought up SF. It was 7 YEARS ago. If you say you forgive her then you can't bring it up again just to throw it back in her face. That being said I do think Lily has been selfish in the past and does put herself first even after she became a mom. Ah the writers did a great job with this because it has people talking and it is an issue that couples have in real life. Can't wait to see how it plays out! I'm also looking forward to the 200th episode next week :)
Fair point, although living in an extremely nice home doesn't necessarily equate with having a family fortune. It just seemed like a really unnecessary thing to mention with so little of the show left.
She was a huge pop star growing up, to be honest I had just always assumed she was rich ish anyway because of that haha. So I definitely don't get why they decided to make her family rich.
See, that makes even more sense! I hadn't thought of that, but she should really have a nice little nest egg saved up from being pop star, at least where she could live pretty comfortably without worrying about a job so much. It makes even less sense that she would have family money in that light, and the fact that she has actually expressed some interest in Ted and Barney pulling in decent money in the past makes it less plausible.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

CARTER AND CRAIG, YOUR MOTHER***ERS, WHERE IS THE PROMO?
ReplyDeleteafter last week HORRIBLE EPISODE I didn't watch it yet...got scared it was HORRIBLE again LOL gotta watch it prob tomorrow!!
ReplyDeleteThey're not in charge of promos - CBS is. This is CBS' fault!

Penny Leia--- almost sounds like Penny Lane haha
ReplyDeleteVery very interesting and funny! So Penny and luke are listening to all the stories...
ReplyDeleteUgh boo dorm meetings

ReplyDeleteIt's so fun to learn something I've already been told about ten times before.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't remembered Ted's love for pennies!
ReplyDelete"Ted found a penny on the subway and it's old and that's interesting" :D
In one word: beautiful. It had almost everything I love about HIMYM. I'll explain in further detail in my upcoming review
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode, Ted and the mother were adorable and LOL @ Barney's vengeance plan.
ReplyDeleteAlways!
ReplyDeleteProbably Ranjit...
ReplyDeleteThe captain!?!?!
ReplyDeleteThe Mother?

ReplyDeleteI'm personally assuming this based on what next week is about
ReplyDeleteActually, with all of the flashbacks we have seen of her childhood house, that place is pretty much a mansion. So it didn't exactly come from nowhere.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it would be
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go out against the popular theory here, that Penny is named after the Lucky Penny, and theorize that she's actually named after a close relative of the mother!
ReplyDeleteIt looked like Ranjit's car to me...

Was a pleasure to see the mother.
I Didn't Understand The End Part. Who Was The Person On A Chain At The End?
ReplyDeleteA bear
ReplyDeleteOh The Ring Bear. Oh Yeah Barney Did Say The Name Of "The Ring Bearer"
ReplyDeleteI put together some theories for the rest of the series:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.reddit.com/r/HIMYM/comments/1vr4yk/theories_recap_possible_spoilers/
Robin thought Trevor Hudson is a kid, but it is actually a bear.

ReplyDeleteNice theories! I loved the one about Rome
ReplyDeleteCredit for this particular one goes here: http://www.reddit.com/r/HIMYM/comments/1vqtyv/rome/
ReplyDeleteFun fact: Carter Bays daughter played Penny.
ReplyDeleteShe was a huge pop star growing up, to be honest I had just always assumed she was rich ish anyway because of that haha. So I definitely don't get why they decided to make her family rich.
