  1. I found it better than I expected and quite well done honestly.

It did not grab me utterly and completely just yet though since the overall story is still rather open and it could go down a number of roads I would not enjoy much. That aside, It was a great start I think. A new series worth checking out for a couple weeks at least!

I added a number of new cast photos (as well as HQ versions of the old photos) to the SpoilerTV Photo Archive as well as my fav poster for the series seen below.

Also I was just waiting for the end lol, I knew something like that was going to happen with them with the character bios, and something plus did happen!

  4. Liked it a lot and it reminds me a lot of The Burning Zone which I liked too.

  5. I actually liked it!
The last 15 minutes of the Pilot were very intense & creepy, and I will be watching next week.

  8. Really liked it!

It has a lot of it's producers'/writers' other woks elements/references. Very suspenseful, a pretty rich and seemingly large cast, unique look, and lot of doors opened in a short period of time! I want to watch it again -see if I catch things I didn't the first time around!

  9. I'm glad it got good reviews i'm going to watch it later today when i get back.

  10. The first maybe 15 minutes I was not into, but it picked up and it is the kind of scary show I like. Not so much blood and guts, but spooky and waiting for someone to get you. I will keep watching for a few more eps at least.

  11. I didn't really like it too much and gave up about an hour in.

  12. I'm kind of with Darque on this -where if it goes somewhere down like and Alien film path, it might not be something I stick with either unless the emotional story holds equal ground over the horror/suspense (I'm not one for slasher genre, where everyone is expendable all the time...I want some characters for the long haul), but really there are so many ways this thing could go, --they have so much information and possibilities on the table (it's kind of overwhelming) that it was very exciting first two episodes!

  13. Alien-esque could probably be okay for me too....
I just want a good mix of the conspiracy behind the experiments and the experiments themselves.

I do not want to watch a series centered on mutated creatures killing I guess.... I can enjoy that scenario for a movie (like the Resident Evil franchises) quite a bit, but it does not keep my interest for 13 episodes without a deeper background story and character development.

I have not watched Episode 3 yet (it is available on demand), but it looked to hint at the larger conspiracy and more players coming into the picture. So for now I am still quite intrigued.

  14. Now fellow posters, lets give "RESIDENT EVIL: The Series" chance! The set design, CGI, and acting was top notch............Helix out did Defiance on those fronts. The scene pacing set up a suspenseful/disturbing atmosphere with just a little "Lag Time" here and there. The Blonde veterinarian was funny and entertaining............more of her is a good thing! A pretty good start for a new series, but I was really disappointed that..............Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Ali Larter (Heroes), and the Umbrella Corp. haven't been introduced yet. Maybe next episode! 4 SLOPPY JOE MONSTER KISSES (NO TONGUE PLEASE), I am Nobody!!!

  15. "I do not want to watch a series centered on mutated creatures killing I guess."

That's exactly what I was getting at! So far I like the fact that Peter still knows who people are and that he's not completely mindless and I like the idea that the CDC peeps seem to also be apart of the experiment. I just don't like something that doesn't have a real story behind it, where we just see people die endlessly for no real reason except to show us people dying. XD

  16. Thought it was a smart idea to air the first two episodes together because it showed off what the show is beyond the pilot right off the bat, which I loved.

  17. I really enjoyed it. Just enough suspense and scary moments to raise my heartbeat but also really interesting characters who I look forward to learning more about. The end of episode 2 caught me off guard - was not expecting that to happen!

  18. LOVED IT!! Hope it did well in the ratings and gets at least a 2nd season!

  19. I get frustrated with stories populated with idiots. This flick was loaded with them. I forgave Doreen for sitting in that little basement doing an autopsy with her back to the door and headphones on because I don't think she knew Peter was on the loose. But when Jordan and Walker go BACK IN to the sickbay with the infect people AFTER finding out that the virus turns victims into violent people whose goal is to spread the contagion I almost turned it off. That was just plain stupid.

The performances were great. Hatake scares me. That monkey shot was extremely freaky. The way Julia was infected was freaky.

AS for my rating, I hit the escape scene and I'm finding it difficult to be objective and judge the whole and not just that one scene.

  20. LOL Please, nobody, how could you forget Oded Fehr? He was the only reason to watch the later Resident Evil movies.

The flick that I kept most identifying the Helix premise with was The Andromeda Strain.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Forgive my attempt at humor, but sometimes I just can't help myself! Oded Fehr is one of my favorite actors and it would be great if he did more film or especially was a regular on a good TV series! Great call with The Andromeda Strain by the way. Now a little early theories if you please................I believe the Japanese scientist and/or the Italian (named) soldier are aliens and the "Virus" is their experiment. Either that or this is how the Umbrella Corp. get it's start! 4 THE ANDROMEDA HELIX OR RESIDENT EVIL: HELIX AS VIDEO GAME TITLES, I am Nobody!!!

  22. finallly watched the pilot and gave it a "good".... there are definitely good elements here, but I don't know if it was the lack of subtlety of the ep where it felt like they were trying to overdo it on the creepiness feel (like piping in the cheery elevator music at odd times), the somewhat cartoonish characters - Hitake for the most part was the worst for me along with the seemingly useless head of security - (you'd think that a facility that was doing the experiments that they supposedly were doing would have a crack security team/system with a functional way to communicate all the time.... no radios, video system - saw them, but I guess they don't use them..... really?), and the editing of the ep felt really off to boot....the possible romantic triangle/square thing is annoying but I can overlook that bit. I do see potential here and will continue sampling it and hope that things will begin to smooth out, but I can say that it wasn't as good as I was hoping for but will give it the chance to change my mind.

  23. They gotta do something or they are just dead. One person's "stupidity" is another person's "heroism" or "being brave."

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah, the silly music was very weird, but not in a good creepy way to me.

  25. Just finished watching. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I think I will continue to watch but so far I lacked a legitimate connection with it/ the characters even though I do like the lead actor. I think my problem is that I went in a bit expecting BSG too much. Let's see how it develops.

  26. The chief Arctic Scientist was played by Dogen from LOST, wasn't he??

  27. You rang lol

  28. Better call Detective Carter and Inspector Lee and tell them Kenji survived the fall from the Eiffel Tower lol

Fyi he can also see him in the recently released 47 Ronin with Keanu-Reeves

  29. Maybe you should pay attention to what is really happening on the screen instead of (apparently) be prejudged by the channel it is on.

    - Everytime the wore parka's outside, not always closed (maybe for looks), but they did have them on.
    - Why would you need camo? It is a virus, not an enemy that will hunt down and kill them (atleast not that they knew of before they came there)
    - Like they SAID in the show, they didn't want the CDC there in the first place, we don't know who contacted them yet. Maybe Peter?
    - Annoyed by reactions of the scientist too (suddenly they loose all rationality?), but they can always attribute that to the virus + scientists are human too, they panic too and make mistakes.
    - Agree with the contamination protocols and security, but this is where you have to dispense with your believe a bit, cause else there basically is no show. Which you have to do in pretty much every sci fy show... Also, you talk about it having been done before but better, yet you can't seem to mention 1 tv show which actually did it better.
    - Your hating on SYFY and NBC is not really relevant here...

All in all I suggest you really watch the show, dispense a little bit of believe and just enjoy the show.

  30. Good show. MY guess is that there are 2 kinds of viruses/aliens competing for control of the lab/world.

  31. Finally got the chance to view it from my DVR and have to say I was pretty disappointed in the whole thing. At first, it started out interesting with the Arctic setting and bringing in the CDC to rescue them. Then it just seemed to get progressively worse with the whole mess of a lovers triangle/brother involvement. Not a huge fan of Billy Campbell but he did okay with what they gave him for dialogue. Guess my favorite character was the tough gal who adds some comedy to the series. I figured she would be killed right away so glad that they let her get out of the mess with the crazy scientist lady. Made it all worth watching in the end!! :)

I'll give it a few more episodes and see if it does turn into an "Alien" type show but once again SyFy seems to keep disappointing me especially after the fact that I'm losing Warehouse 13, eventually,
later this year. :( For now I'll stick with Grimm as my Friday show for viewing.

  32. I do like this show, but there are some things that REALLY annoys me:

    1. The CDC are unbelievably disorganized!! Not very good at tasks like isolating patients or organizing a simple search...
    2. They're kind of unprofessional. Not following their own quarantine/safety rules. Or good at anything other than lab work. And it bothers me!
    3. I also hate that the young scientist has a crush on her mentor. 30 years her senior :-/ Hope that goes away!

  33. Would you like the list of shows not or later we could start with the thing by John Carpenter, Couple of episodes of Torchwood Children of Earth, Miracle day, Several episodes of Star Trek did it decently back in the day, or do you also want specific dates they ran? There are shows like the remake of the Andromeda strain, though I also like the original, Dr Who Water of Mars, come to mind, just to get the ball rolling. I left out the specified list because the posting was getting long. But will be happy to generate one post it in the next few hours just for you. Bottom line tried to watch the next episode of this pathetic show fell asleep at least three times, that is not easy to do. I am watching on a 120 inch HD projection screen with surround sound, just like being at the theater as if this POS would ever make it to a theater, it should be honored I put it up on the screen for the couple of episodes that I struggled through. I am not the only person to dislike this show read other review sites see what others are saying about it. Did you write, direct, produce, work on this thing or what? You seem to have a chip on your shoulder to defend it, if this is all you have in your life I suggest getting a real life outside of the world of fantasy, TV, and dealing with reality like the rest of us. Let me know when you want that list of shows that have done this same tired prims and done it better, here is another one X files the black oil, think I have made my point if not ask for more, suew I or someone else can find more issues with this show besides being on SIFRI channel. If it was watchable the Exect's would kill it in a matter of weeks, so it has to be crap to last more than a month to start with, least we forget SharkNado I, II, III, IV, ETC.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No I don't want a list of shows nor did I ask for them. But just to comment on a few:
Seen Torchwood (horrible), DW (perfect ep), haven't seen star trek, xfiles (was ok ep, not great)
Why do you think I am defending this show btw? I am simply pointing out the errors in your rant and if you bother to read my other comment you see I only rated this show as good.
Maybe time for you to get a life?
