  1. I tried to like this show, but I'm giving it up... thin writing and bad characters that never seemed to get better did it in for me. overall mystery is somewhat intriguing, but most of the rest is just meh...

  2. This show just gets sillier and sillier. the "scientists" are incompetent, and the science is ridiculous. It's a grown-up slasher movie. I had expected better of Ron Moore. I watch it now to snark.

  3. This show doesn't have a lot going for it character-wise and now they've gone and killed Doreen. She was literally the only likeable supporting character on this show and now she's dead. Helix is really going to have to step it up in the next couple of episodes or I'm out for good.

  4. I like it. I'm not fond of The young Dr. Sarah Jordan--she's annoying--but the rest of the cast is terrific. It's pretty violent and I'm finding the only truly predictable character to be Sergio the Army guy. You can count on him to kill or attempt to kill just about any/everyone. Based on what actress Cat Lemieux is saying, Doreen may or may not be dead. Looked like a slam dunk to me but I'm tuning next week to find out.

  5. Great, the tension on this show is amazing! They keep building and building until they get to the pay off, which was very satisfying.

  6. I'm loving this...the plot comes on leaps each episode which is nice! Wonder how they can keep the pace of it though.

  7. I think Dr.Jordon is likeable but agree that more likeable characters are urgently needed.

  8. I haven't seen this episode yet, but to be fair, I do think they try to focus more on the horror than character development and science. But when should science not be ridiculous on Sy-Fy, most people don't really care or won't know what they are saying anyway…but I mean it should stop at Sharknado. After reading the comments, spoiling live-action Pam's death, for me she was one of the most like able supporting characters. However, I do like Dr. Jordan. But yes, I do think all these scientists are the worst ever…it all started from day one, when everyone decided they weren't gonna tell each other the truth; and therefore getting them all into a big shit…and now Doreen is dead, she probably would have been useful at some point in the next episodes.

  9. I'm sorry Doreen is dead because now I feel guilty that I snarked at her so much. But she was such an extremely snarkable character.

Dorren: This is something never seen before ... human and animal DNA combined in a virus!
Me: You mean like bird flu?

  10. I liked Dr. Jordan until we found out she's hiding a serious medical condition that compromises her ability to work and she colluded with an infected person to hide her illness which put everyone there at even greater risk than before.

  11. I know what you mean but she at least owned up to the test being wrong. She is keeping that woman in her own quarters so really she's putting herself at risk. As for her tumour, why should she let that get in the way...she's living her life...she couldn't have known that they'd get stranded at this remote station the way they have.

  12. Someone suffering from fainting spells and uncontrollable hand tremors has no business taking on such a dangerous and remote assignment where something as simple as dropping a vial could put people's lives at risk. On top of that, by the end of last night's episode she was getting high in her room with a vector she's secretly harboring. Dr. Jordan has completely compromised herself and we're only on episode 4.

  13. You are right, she has. But all I'm saying is episode one it seemed like she suffered the hand tremor for the first time i.e. while she knew she was ill, that was a new symptom to her. Therefore she may not have known that issue before I took the mission. As of now though, yes she is a mess. She's obviously in pain and struggling hence taking morphine but she has no good excuse for hiding the vector...I hope she comes to her senses next episode. I think she is a very redeemable character or maybe I'm just feeling sorry for her lol.

  14. If she was informed about her disease, and being a doctor with the CDC she most likely was, she knew what could happen and what any possible symptoms might arise. Her disease, her responsibility.

Don't get me wrong. I don't hate the character. I'm just a little fed up with incompetent medical professionals on science fiction programs. I wish writers would stop trying to create drama by making their characters stupid.
