  1. Aw, poor Rosalee. I hate the way her family treated her and whoa at the reveal she was in jail for shoplifting. Really wasn't expecting that one. Glad Monroe tried to comfort her.

That was a really good episode! Wonder what's going on with Adalind.

  2. enjoyed the ep. Loved getting some more backstory on Rosalee and her dysfunctional family situation and how Monroe was a rock for getting her thru all that. I am a bit confused as you would've thought that Rosalee would've been in contact with them earlier as she was the one who came to take care of the affairs of her brother in Portland after he was murdered... interesting cotw, and like the resolution, but if I had to nitpick, it's that Jessica's reaction to finding out that Nick is a Grimm wasn't consistent like you'd expect - to be extremely fearful of him before he has to reassure that his intentions are otherwise.... other than that, very good ep

  3. Omigosh, the final fight was absolutely amazing! And I loved how Rosalee's sister showed she really cared, in her own special way.

  4. She was a Steinadler (there was one in the "Three Coins in a Fuchbau" episode in Season One). They're known for being really brave. It IS actually consistent with their kind.

  5. I think it was also consistent with her personal characteristic. She was a rape victim who went through hell and back and who was brave enough to face her attackers to make them confess to the crime (not to kill or hurt them) which takes heaps of courage, IMO. She was very strong and went through so much that I wasn't suprised she wasn't rattled by Nick's revelation at all even before you mentioned the Steinadler characteristic.

  6. Munroe is now officially my favourite character

  7. To be honest, I cringed every time they added another member to Rosalee's family. After all the police would have called them. At least make them aunt and cousin to explain why Rosalee was the one who came to Portland.
I think that Steinadler are less fearful of Grimms than other Wesen because they are fighter themselves and not exactly on their usual hunting list, since attacking innocents is not in their nature.

  8. *I* can be mean to my baby sister but no body else can. :-) Loved Deetra threatening Monroe at the end.

I actually really liked the episode. Was a little dubious about Nick accusing the woman (sorry forgot her name) of being Wesen without any proof. He can't tell for sure until they Woge what would he have done if she'd been human.

Anybody else get the feeling that Adalind's baby is going to be something more than 3/4 Hexenbeast? Awesome ep for me to night.

  9. That's what I was thinking. After the hell's she's suffered I wasn't surprised that a Grimm wouldn't phase her.

  10. She was shocked for a very little moment when Nick told her he's a Grimm, but she got over it within a second. Her kind doesn't show fear. Or maybe after all that she's been through she decided that it didn't matter that there was a Grimm in the room.

  11. That's what they still have to explain. Apparently, Rosalee's mother and sister live in Portland. So why didn't Nick and Hank find them when they were looking for relatives? And why did they apparently miss Freddy's funeral? Didn't they know he died? That's hard to believe. You'd think at least Rosalee would have dropped them a note about the funeral. It looks like mother and sister haven't been in touch with Freddy either. That's odd.

  12. I only missed the Nick - Monroe interaction. They didn't even have one scene together in this episode.

  13. I think the travelled to seattle this episode (hence Monroe saying that they came all the way). But, yeah, all this bothers me, too.

  14. It was the anniversary of Rosalee's father's death...and I guess she just wanted to reach out to her daughter, now that she has gotten her life in order again and even took care of her aunt.

Medford (which is about six hours south of Portland).

I enjoyed it but there were sooooo many details that didn't match up with what they'd already established for Rosalee's back story. Like when they said that this was the first communication she'd had with her mother in seven years. I guess they forgot that her mother called her in "Over My Dead Body" to tell her about Aunt Lois's stroke. (And I can't reconcile any of this with the letter about her father's death in "Natural Born Wesen" being dated 1984.) I must admit it's making me a bit crazy. I know it's just a TV show but I do prefer internal consistency in my fiction.

  17. I liked the episode a lot. My notes:
    1. I get it now. Every time Kirk Acevedo appears, he'll be killed in a minute. That's just how it goes.
    2. Those gorgeous Arts and Crafts houses that the set decorators have beautified to the utmost, make me want to go to Portland. Loved Troy's house, with the deep blue walls and the burgundy in the next room. This show's set décor thrills me.
    3. Rosalee's family turned out in the end to not be so mean after all. I have a feeling we'll be seeing Deetra helping out at the shop, dropping nasty remarks about her brother-in-law. Loved that last scene with Monroe and the sister. It was funny how she flaunted her steak meal in front of vegetarian Monroe and her snide remark about Bludbads. I noted they didn't even mention Freddy. Did they not like him?
    4. I was positive Adalind was going into labor, but no. She's just feeling her powers returning. Maybe Nick should kiss her again. I was surprised that the person tailing her is working for the captain, not the Family.
    5. Good COTW. The Army covered up a gang rape. For shame.

  18. It all bothered me, too. It wouldn't have been so hard to keep consistency with what we already know, but I guess we have to blame the writers for this goof. Good fiction writers keep a "character bible," which is a card file, or a bulletin board where they attach notes about each character, and refer to these notes so these mix-ups don't happen. There's really no excuse. As a viewer, I feel a bit taken for granted.

  19. I know...I mean it is really so hard for the writers to make a list, pin it at the wall of the writers room, and add the information to it? Details like that drive me crazy because unlike the writers, I do remember this kind of stuff.

  20. I find it sad when writers can't remember what is happening on their own show.

  21. That must have slipped my attention. I thought it was still Portland. Thanks for telling me.

  22. I completely get that. I think what was bugging me ('bugging me' is too strong...'stuck out to me' may be a better way to put it) was that because Rosalee asked the question (it seemed never to have occurred to her that that's what her mother was doing) that I felt like it needed to be *in* the scene. Perhaps when her mother answered the door. Because her sister seemed so ready to punish Rosalee I think it might have made those seems a little stronger to underline her mother's desire to heal the family just a little bit more.

  23. He did last longer in a episode of The Walking Dead lol.

Same here whenever they show Portland beautiful locations makes me wanna visit too and Leverage was filmed there all five seasons except the pilot but still they didn't show much beautiful locations compared to Grimm lol.

I wish Wu was in on the secret it pains me how they make him look smart in the beginning of the investigations and then loop him out when they realize who the killer is and what it is.

I should correct that--google maps says it's just over four hours. My husband, who is from the area, is not buying it. Your mileage may vary.
