  1. Awesome cliffhangers!! It was pretty good, everyone got a piece. Very diverse. There's so much i want to say, but unfortunately, i have to charge my comp. So i can't comment, like i usually would.
BUT, i shall return later. I look forward to reading the comments when i come back.

  2. Sigh, there's a downwards spiral.

Laurel actually got some good character evolution but like many stuff on this show it didn't add much to the story or my excitement.
The promised Deathstroke scene took about 20 seconds and I missed more than the half of it. Seriously ? 30 or 40 seconds ?
Roy being infected with mirakuru seems to become more of an excuse for Haynes wooden acting and while I enjoyed his small breakdown that didn't really make up for the monotone lines and the lack of facial expressions.
The Blood saga continues, wich after going on for over a half of a season is too long at this point.
The island scenes were pointless for the first time and actually made for the worst part in an episode (also a first).

Obviously the acting scenes were pulled of fantastically again but the overall product didn't deliver for me.
Maybe I'm just not a sucker for Roy, Sin, Laurel and Sarah like others but I'd have an episode featuring more of Diggle, Felicity, Slade and Det Lance (in a non-bystander role) over one like this any day

Overall the episode actually dissapointed me more like the last. The first half had some FANTASTIC episodes maybe it's hard for this half to catch up but I'm completely bummed.

Last weeks promo made this one seem like we'd finally get to see some scenes of Deathstroke in action and an overall intense episode. Instead we got Arrow Jr.

Luckily the promo for next week doesen't make me excited in any way so my expectations won't be as high

  3. Awesome episode!

Laurel really impressed me this time around which is weird considering I have hated her a lot this season. I loved the scene where her and Arrow teamed up to get the file on Sebastian's father. This episode also made me feel sympathy towards her when she was arrested and when she was wrong about Sebastian being Brother Blood (which obviously she isn't).

And HELL YEAH to her finally not being a damsel in distress and being a bad ass shooting Daly with a gun! That was amazing.

It was so great to see Sin again! I really love her character and hope she keeps on coming back.

Also, that final scene with Deathstroke!!!! So much awesomeness.

I absolutely can't wait for next week where Oliver trains Roy into becoming Red Arrow. That will be so much fun to watch!

  4. plesae watch a new show

  5. most of us hate Laurel but she losing her job as ADA because I guess she went too deep into the investigation. Her boss could indirectly involve with Blood

    ReplyDelete
  6. I was rolling on the floor when I heard the "Ask him what color are his shoes" line. That was brilliantly done.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sounds like the show may not be for you anymore. Too bad because it's been fantastic (at least to most of us) this season. Why watch anymore if you know it's just gonna disappoint you for the rest of the season? I'm not ragging on you and I know it sucks when a show you used to like goes in a direction you don't like, but from your posts it seems like your torturing yourself watching it each weeks. Sometimes the best and hardest thing to do in life is to let go.

  8. I liked Sara as the Black Canary but Sara on the island is of no interest. If you look at the island scenes outside fot he episode they were terribly dull and nothing happened.
As for Roy... I so want to like Roy, cos he's pretty. But I don't and it's a terrible shame since he's clearly not going anywhere. The only upside I see to his expanded role is seeing Felicity play off him.
Oh yeah, and this ep needed more Felicity.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I really wonder who writes the great one liners, cuz they are ALWAYS awesome. Soo funny.

    ReplyDelete
  10. why so much mixte reviews it was really good....this show keeps getting better and better

    ReplyDelete
  11. Fantastic episode Laurel was great the direction superb Blood,Slade and Ivo are all compelling villains and no Olicity praise the Lord

    ReplyDelete
  12. I was also disappointed with this episode. The show is at its best when it is working with the talent of the main cast and engaging them in the story in interesting ways. I know that may seem obvious but a lot of people are missing the point when people say they were let down by this episode.

It focused too much on the weakest characters on the show and did not use them in any interesting ways.

    - Roy is boring. I have no interest in seeing more of him. I don't hate him but he works best in the background.

    - Blood is a weak villain. Right now he is Slade's goon and his biggest adversary is a pill-popping mess. His arc should have lasted about half as long as it is right now.

    - The island scenes which, before tonight, always added something to the present story/universe felt tacked on with no purpose.

I guess it is a testament to the show's quality that this episode was just "Okay" because none of those things are really horrible. It just wasn't up to the normal standard of the show.

  13. Average episode to me..
I just cannot get into Blood or Laurel and an episode where they were highlighted was not my thing.

I swear there needs to be an Arrow drinking game.. A few rules to start:
    - Drink every time Laurel pops pills
    - Drink every time Laurel whines (Yes, this game will get you drunk)
    - Drink every time Roy does the worst possible action for any situation.
    - Drink when Thea gets snarky at Roy
    - Drink when Felicity makes goo-goo eyes at Oliver
    - Drink every time a villain's plan falls apart like Wylie E coyote
    - Finish your drink every time Arrow stands mere feet away from someone he knows without being recognized.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Its one of my favourite episodes of the season lol

    ReplyDelete
  15. Same here the way he said it was hilarious

    ReplyDelete
  16. The Roy plot was great, even though too slow moving - we should have been at this point last week, and I have the feeling that they want to drag out the whole thing even more.
Everything else though...it is just so contrived that Oliver would fall for Blood's mask. Yes, he is a bad judge of character, but he also has a problem to trust anyone. It was hard enough to believe him not being critical concerning Blood's motivations, but now that he got a clear warning, I would expect him to dig further, just to be sure. I hope that at least Felicity is smart enough to do so.
And I admit, I just can't get invested in Laurel's problems. Intellectually, I know that there was nothing wrong with her actions this episode, it was in fact the best storyline she ever had, even though all the leaps the writers had to make to bring her to this point were grating. But that doesn't change the fact that I don't give a damn about what happened to her at this point. It's too little, too late, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  17. They are stalling. Instead of moving forward with the main arcs, they just throw in some crumbs. At the end of the ep, we were more or less back to where it began. Well, everyone now thinks that Laurel is a mess, but that aside Oliver is still not hunting Blood, the island plot is exactly where it was beforehand, Slade is still laying in wait and Thea is still trying to reach Roy who doesn't really know what to do. It reminds me currently of a lot of mistakes Grimm made in season two, with Renard being on the phone (again), Juliette trying to find out stuff while never really making any progress, and the romance between Monroe and Rosalee being stalled because of the absence of the actress.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Roy/Thea and Sin plot is currently the only thing which makes me come back to the show.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I felt sympathetic towards Laurel during the episode but i have a issue with the fact that the writters are making everyone really clueless so she can look smarter.
And seriously, no one wondered what was Daly's motives for targeting Laurel specifically, specially when she was investigating Blood?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Don't forget Diggle. All he has done lately is hang out in the background waiting to tell Oliver when he is being stupid. Did he just forget about HIVE?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I thought this episode was pretty good and agreed with the IGN reviewer that gave it 9.5. I think Blood is a good villain and liked seeing him so cunning and yet so small compared to Slade.

I don't hate Laurel, although she is my least favorite character, but even she worked better in this episode.

I also liked the b plot of Thea, Sin, and Roy.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I felt for Laurel. I thought that she nailed him (Sebastian Blood) to discover it's not him behind the mask. Slad really destroyed her.
I liked discovering Laurel secret. She is the one that went after Oliver knowing that Sara has a crush on him, It makes me wonder what other secrets Laurel is hiding. She is not the victim or the perfect daughter I thought she was.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Less is more:

Less island flashbacks => more viewing enjoyment
Less Laurel => more viewing enjoyment
Less attempts at psychological character studies => more viewing enjoyment

    ReplyDelete
  24. Laurel's secret makes me wonder if they really are considering keeping Sara as the Black Canary. The secret doesn't make Oliver look any better, he was still a cheating douchebag pre-island, but it does make Sara look better.
Also, this is the 2nd episode this season that basically had flashbacks from Sara's point of view and not Oliver's.

    ReplyDelete
  25. This was another state vs queen episode for me. Like that train wreck of court case so many unbelievable things happened this episode. Sebastian Blood killing his mother. Did he stash that mask outside the room to go out wear it and come back? Seriously?

Roy, Thea and Sin scenes. How fortunate that the car Sin entered was the same one the prostitute killer was in. They have reduced Thea to a love interest. I had high hopes for her when this season began. Lets hope they don't do to Thea what they did to Laurel.

In which country a person's whole house is tossed while they are not there to find one single bottle of prescription medication that too belonging to her father

I am not a fan of Laurel at all and want her to go away. But today I was angry on her behalf. What was the need of the island scene where Sara says to Oliver about Laurel getting her arrested? Like Oliver said that doesn't sound like Laurel at all. Is Laurel going to turn into a negative character? Are they trying to insinuate Laurel kind of stole her sister's crush object. Too bitchy for the Laurel we know and does not comply with all the Lance history we were shown.

I am still not in love with Laurel and I don't consider the acting emmy worthy as the creators say (or anything special for that matter) but I am glad they are giving her good thing to do and is making her relevant. A little too late for me. I liked the file searching thing and roof top conversation with Arrow. I am still not excited for her. Felt bad for her when quentin didn't believe her.

Roy is still brash in this episode but his breakdown felt real to me. Three cheers for Arrow training Roy at last.Too little of Deathstroke and Brother blood simply became less scary now that he is afraid of Slade. Slade was total bad ass.

Love Team Arrow. Those few minutes they are together was so much better than everything else. I loved how they showed that Diggle is still not a fan of Laurel .

Over all a below average episode concentrating on the weaker characters of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Renard/Phone OTP!!! LOL. Are you saying Arrow has gotten as bad as the Royals "storyline" - I used quotes because I'm not sure it even counts as a storyline when it never moves along.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh, please. The Renard\Phone storyline has been going on for 2.5 seasons. The Blood storyline is progressing in each episode and will wrap by the end of this season. We just found out about him working for Slade barely two episodes ago. I wouldn't compare between the two.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "Sebastian Blood killing his mother. Did he stash that mask outside the room to go out wear it and come back? Seriously?"
I was under the impression he returned later that night. This is the show where Oliver Queen can enter any room unnoticed in this show and doesn't have super powers, why can't Blood?

Thea is a love interest for now, but they said she'd find out about her daddy this season, and hopefully her journey will begin from that moment. That will definitely shake her up.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I didn't make the comparison, I sought confirmation from the original poster.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Are you crazy? We would be hospitalized. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not yet, but at this rate, it might happen. Currently I certainly enjoy Grimm more. Let's hope that Arrow picks up again.

    ReplyDelete
  32. why ? am I not allowed to voice my criticism ? Can't you hear other peoples opinions ? If you can't: please don't read my comments

    ReplyDelete
  33. That's what being a fan means. I love this show and I promised myself to stick with it, and I'm not saying that it sucks this season. There were some fairly great episodes in the first half, pretty much the entirety of the first half was great (minus the mid-season finale).

I won't let go but I'll stop pushing my expectations so high for a start. I'll consider to stop watching by the season finale. I'm not giving up

    ReplyDelete
  34. The writing for Laurel is still a bore, the acting by Katie Cassidy is still a snore.

I just want more Caity Lotz, Sara and Black Canary

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes lets have more Felicity eating up screentime doing nothing per usual. And hate on Roy who actually have a story arc to tell, and one thats been awesomely developing .

    ReplyDelete
  36. I always imagine Oliver thinking "let me just run really quickly before this person turns around"

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm wondering what's the purpose in bringing this secret up now. It does not justify Sara's betrayal so it was kind of pointless for me right now.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think they brought it up this week so Oliver had a reason to doubt Laurel as a person and thereby he would have a reason to doubt her when she said that Blood is a villain. Something to help let Oliver fall for the very thin scheme Blood hatched to have his minion caught as the masked villain.

Maybe more will come into play later?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Kinda hoping they make Sin a regular

    ReplyDelete
  40. Roy does have a good storyline but it's wasted on a wooden actor who fails to bring any real personality to the role.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think Laurel's addiction it's a pretty good reason to discredit her, they don't need to say she stole her sister's crush. And let's be honest, the character isn't getting much love from the public as it is, why make her look so petty at this point?
That said, I absolutely think that more will come into play, but i don't have any theories yet.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I guess with Laurel in shock of killing the wrong man, she wasn't thinking of how he could have just been a cover for Blood? That's all that i could think of. As far as Ollie getting over his "Blind Spot" for Laurel. (thank god). It's like ok great, but seriously, if you KNOW her, then try and get passed her drug issue and think to yourself, WHY would she go through all this if she didn't have a reason??? ya know?? He shouldn't give up on that search, just b/c he's turning his back on her now. She IS right, and it bothers me that even Felicity couldn't see that. They really did dumb the characters down to make Laurel seem smarter. Haha, you're right about that, now that i'm saying all this crap. Well we'll see what happens. oh and btw, that was me DEFENDING Laurel, in case anybody missed that. JS. I may not like her, or care for her, BUT when she does something right, i'll give her credit, where credit's due.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't think Donner (Laurel's boss) is conspiring with Blood. Frankly, it would get kind of ridiculous if EVERYONE was in on the evil conspiracy. I think he just fired her for the reason he stated - she's gotten addicted to drugs and is a liability (what she told him about Blood looks completely ridiculous from his PoV). If people find out about her arrest, the DA's office is going to look really bad, especially after what Donner mentioned about how he took Vertigo on live TV - although I didn't quite get that part, given that The Count FORCED him to take Vertigo, but whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  44. i don't get it. it was all blaimed on one cop behind the mask and everyone bought it?! how the hell would one cop get the medical expertise, the funds or even the knowledge that such a serum existed and then the serum itself and cause all that chaos? how does anyone buy that? is it too much to ask for a show to, okay, needlessly go around in cirlces if they so wish but NOT make all the characters idiots in order to accomplish that?

    ReplyDelete
  45. They did move the main arcs forward. Roy is now poised to become Speedy? and join Oliver's Team Arrow. Slade tightens his grip on Evil in Starling City while Blood looks lily white and can work behind the scenes without anyone suspecting him since Laurel has been discredited. And Laurel spirals further down, now without a job or having any to believe what she says.

It's just that the forward movement got lost in a mess of angst and subplots.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I thought the episode needed more Diggle and Felicity, with a storyline for Moira, because this one was about people I don't care about. Hopefully that will change if not in the next group of episodes then soon.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oliver may be over his 'blind spot' about Laurel, but that just means all the more guilt and angst when he learns she was right about Blood after all. (So not looking forward to that.)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I enjoyed that story.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yes, that's a very lazy way of making her look smart.

    ReplyDelete
  50. OMG how long did it take you to write this comment? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  51. LOL, idk. But when i finished, i gave myself a "damn". lol

    ReplyDelete
  52. I hope they fix that.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I guess I think Laurel's drug habit actually makes her more sympathetic to Oliver, but knowing she is capable of outright manipulation of people is different and that would give him a reason to doubt her.

I still think it is weak at best and not enough for Oliver to trust Blood.

    ReplyDelete
  54. hahahahaha i just finished reading it, I bet when you were done the laptop needed to be charged again LOL

"so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. (Haha see what i did there)."
"Maybe she's got some guilt trip going for her right now. Like a, i can't believe i'm so stupid, how could i let him get close, i dug deep, got his mother killed, now i accidentally made it personal, and he's coming after me now, yada yada yada- Way. Hahaha"

    hahahahaha yada yada yada-way LOL

I have a headache so I'll make this short, I felt really bad for Roy he was so lonely but I liked his scenes with Sin and looking forward to seeing him and Ollie work together. The writers are trying to redeem Laurel and give her something to do but I'm still not a fan plus every scene she is in I keep looking at her chin it looks so weird she looks so unhealthy thin she is like a toothpick with an olive on top of it LOL. I don't read comics so I don't know who Deathstroke so I don't know why is it exciting that Slade is him but I liked his last scene. It was nice to see that Sarah had feelings for Oliver even before he was with Laurel and that she is not a sister's boyfriend stealer and glad to know she is not secretly working for Ivo I didn't really trust her 100% and when she finished talking to him before Oliver found her I actually thought she was going to kill herself for a moment she looked so remorseful. I missed Felicity and Dig but I liked their conversation at the end and I thought the smile Ollie gave Felicity when she told him that he can talk himself out of a victory was cute.

That was keeping it short? WOW you really have a bad influence on me LOL

    ReplyDelete
  55. And you can't imagine how annoying it is to me that she was that close to the arrow and didn't know he was Oliver!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Totally agree with your post

    ReplyDelete
  57. Agreed and i like Felicity

    ReplyDelete
  58. If mac's comment went like this: "OMG this show sucks so much! I can't believe people watch this shit! It needs to be cancelled already, everything about it is crap, I hate the actors, hate the writing, hate the stunts"... and such, you would have a point. That's just silly flaming. However, a comment civilly criticizing the show and explaining why the commentator didn't enjoy the episode is perfectly legitimate. If you don't like it, don't read it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Maybe I'm not thinking this through, but I don't think this is much of a plot hole. Everyone was doubting Laurel to begin with, and while she may not have voiced it, she probably began to get that sinking feeling of doubt herself, given that she HAD been taking drugs and spiraling out of control. In this type of situation, once you're offered a logical explanation - Daley is the guy in the skull mask, not Good Samaritan Blood - it makes sense that you wouldn't consider the seemingly ridiculous alternative (that only was Laurel right about Blood, but Blood knew she was coming after him and proceeded to stage everything so that Daley would take the fall for him).
Regarding Oliver's trust in Laurel - I think the point they tried to make was that Laurel coming to him was the ONLY reason he looked into this issue to begin with. He did it against his own better judgment because he thinks Blood is a good guy. So once Laurel was seemingly discredited because of her drug use, he had no reason to believe her suspicions could be true, and accepted it when it was Daley under the mask. Really, all Laurel had on Blood was the extremely circumstantial evidence that A) his crazy mother/aunt told her he killed his father and B) she died a few days later.
Ultimately I just think, from Oliver and everyone else's PoV, Occam's Razor indicates that Laurel was wrong and Daley is the skull mask dude. It's not impossible for her to be right and for Blood to have thrown Daley under the bus to cast suspicion off himself, but it seems extremely far-fetched.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I wonder if Blood has someone at the mental institution on his payroll, and made sure there wouldn't be any record of his visiting that night. Because it's one thing for Laurel to point out that Blood's mother died just a few days after telling her Blood killed his father, but if there was proof that Blood visited his mother the very night she died, it would be a lot harder to handwave Laurel's suspicions.

On a side note, I enjoyed Kevin Alejandro's performance in that opening scene. It seemed that Blood genuinely meant what he told his mother about forgiveness and all, rather than just toy with her to make it seem like he wasn't going to kill her. It's both creepier and more interesting this way.

    ReplyDelete
  61. The drug addiction makes Oliver worry about/sympathize with her, yes, but trusting her judgment isn't the same thing. Now, if she was saying something that made sense anyway, I don't think Oliver would question it on the basis of her drug problem, but he had no reason to suspect Blood at that point, so I think the drug issue making him wary of believing Laurel makes sense.

Of course, why Oliver is so convinced Blood is stand-up guy to begin with isn't entirely clear, as you said. But if he does, I can see why the accusations of someone who's in a downward spiral and dealing with her pain via substance abuse won't do much to dissuade him. He did initially investigate, but the results didn't back up Laurel's claims.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'll get back to you. Preparing for my 100th episode tonight. = )

    ReplyDelete
  63. LOL i'll get back to you. TVD in 13 min..very excited!! = )

    ReplyDelete
  64. Have a nice time, just don't comment until I watch it :D

    ReplyDelete
  65. I agree with you , this epi was not what i had hoped . And i so wish they would just kill Laurel she pisses me off so much .

    ReplyDelete
  66. "Of course, why Oliver is so convinced Blood is a stand-up guy to begin with isn't entirely clear"

I think they made it pretty clear. He believes it because he wants to believe it. He knows taking down one bad guy at a time isn't going to save Starling City from itself but a real leader like Blood could make some real changes.

    ReplyDelete
  67. My point is that they do babysteps (and in this case one step forward and one step back) and have done so since they are back from hiatus. Not that they were exactly fast paced beforehand (the Isabel plot has been hanging in the air since day one) but now they keep repeating themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  68. 100% agree that being a fan means talking about both the good and bad parts of a show. I don't understand why people think you aren't a fan if you think of it critically. For me that makes for the best fans and quite frankly the best discussions. Kudos for being so specific. I disagree with a lot of what you think - for me Thea and Roy are one of the few things that saved this episode, but I respect that you are wiling to share that opinion instead of just gushing about it. Please do not stop.

    ReplyDelete
  69. We are almost directly opposite. I am finding Roy's sags far more interesting than Team Arrow right now and I love Blood, partly because I would rather Slade by the main villain in another season and part because MOST of the time he's less over the top hammy and cartoonish than most Arrow villains. Well, the skull thing is definitely over the top. I think Blood appeals to me because many times he is a smart villain and that's something Arrow needs more of. No more Mayors, please.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I concur. Still waiting for them to get their own spin-off and get more time. Sin, Sarah, and Rebecca on White Collar are my favorite new characters.

    ReplyDelete
  71. This is exactly it and Grimm is a great comparison. Nothing happened and everything was just haphazardly thrown in. It felt like an episode that was supposed to be important but fell down every step of the way.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I will never forget the time when they are all in the Arrow Cave and all we see is Diggle with his back to us, hunched over a computer. I hear he is getting better screen time and character development over on Blue Bloods.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Not true. That one guy we never met before got killed for spilling secrets and Meisner has skulked around a lot. And they had a meeting. Don't forget the meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  74. On Twitter last night I added finish your drink every time someone gets kidnapped. It's also center square on the Bingo card since it happens all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Me too. Or she can go to the Flash spin-off. She's being wasted with little snippets of screentime.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I just rewatched that scene. You all may be right. Blood might have came back later on. Did he scare her to death using the mask? The nurse said her heart just gave out.

I like Kevin Alejandro as blood. I start believing him when he gives the speech for glades and has to remind myself he is a bad guy. The whole mother scene was really creepy but lost the scare factor by the end of the episode when he became scared of Slade.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I am not a fan of Laurel at all and want her to go away. But today I was angry on her behalf. The whole secret kind of made Laurel look bitchy and calculating. If the writers wanted us to like her they are not doing any good by showing scenes like this.

At first I thought they were planning to make Laurel the bad guy and team up with Slade by the end of the season. Then I thought it was done so that Oliver would doubt her in the current story line. But that doesn't make any sense too. Oliver never ever showed any doubt at Laurel's decisions the whole of last season.

Now I think they did that so they can bring drama once the Lance sisters meet. May be at one point we will see Oliver and Sara working together against Laurel. This made me think Laurel wont be trained by Sara anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  78. So true!

Could probably add a couple other rules as well...
    - Every time Roy is shown loading or unloading stock at Verdant
    - Shirtless Oliver workout scenes
I'm sure there could be many more... as if more were needed! XD

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think that's sometimes what happens with shows that push out great episodes, you will notice the less well done things. I personally liked this episode but I can get why you didn't. It's also possible they have these really big things coming out but don't want to bring it out over time but just hit us with it all of a sudden. Like Merlin's two devices thing.

Only thing that surprised me this season is their introduction of superpowers.Which I'm still not sure how I feel about it. It's already more or less confirmed The Flash is going to be running through sometime. Not that I don't like shows with superpowers of course. People who've seen me around this site know I watch plenty of shows with them in it.

Hope you start to enjoy the show more though! Goes for anyone who has been disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh yes! Rebecca is so wonderful creepy! I hope we will get more of her next season, but I fear she will end up like Adler - which would be a waste.
I agree, Sin and Sarah are so much fun - though I was honestly bothered by the way the writers tried to make her going after Oliver less "wrong". I honestly didn't need that. I like Sarah how she is now, after she got shaped by her experiences, there is no need to make past Sarah "better". If anything it cheapens the character she is now.

  81. I kinda want Sara to get her own spin-off co-starring Sin, or for both to go to The Flash or something because as little as we saw of their relationship,) seeI quite miss it. Positive friendships between women aren't that common on TV even in this day and age and people seem to prefer pitting them against each other (see: every time someone badmouths Laurel or Oliver & she, another person jumps in to say how horrible Felicity is or vice versa).

  82. I agree even I don't think Donner works for Blood. He looked genuinely sad for Laurel and had no choice. But I do think the DA Kate Spencer is an underling of Malcom Merlyn. It was her who actually put Laurel on Moira's case once Donner was down even when it didn't make any sense. Malcom did say he has influence in DA's office. And we did see her interacting with Blood also.

  83. I completely agree. I think the new characters have worked better than the original ones this year and they are being stifled by lack of screen time. Let them go or give them their own spin-off, and definitely get Sara off that island.

  84. True to much quality might cause some fans to see the worse parts. And I agree that there definitely are some huge things ahead like Slades master plan, Rahs arrival, Merlyns endgame and Brother Bloods desperate attempt to please Slade. I'm still holding out for an end to the brother blood storyline tough, it's been going on for too long. I love Kevin Alejandro but there's only so much you can do with a villainous character like Blood

I'm not too sure about that either. Now if the Mirakuru only gave you a seizable ammount of strength and not Hulk-like powers this might have been handled better but the Flash is a definite turn around for the series original plan and I'm still not too sure what to think.

Thanks and knowing these writers I probably will soon again :)

  85. Thanks Dhane, I will definitely not stop. I love Arrow as a whole and will keep on writing my thoughts on episodes, wether positive or negative. Buffy for example is pretty much my favourite show of all time, I would have some pretty harsh words for their episodes as well tough.

Opinions differ so does things we enjoy about certain aspects of this show. That's a good thing and by far not a bad one. And while I read a lot of positive stuff about the show I'd wish that at least the negative opinions would find a place and acceptantce with various users tough.

That being said: it's a DC show. Everything DC does is split fanbases ^^

  86. It would be cool if Rebecca were allowed to be Neal's Moriarty. I like the idea of a long term criminal mucking up his life at random times. She's far too fascinating to be gone this season.

I am not sure what the writers were thinking to 1. throw Laurel under the bus like that. She's a character that needs to be redeemed and they are making her look worse. 2. randomly bring this up in an episode that was far too muddled as it were. I agree that Sara doesn't need it. She is a completely different person than the one she was on the boat. Let their unfortunate back story go and for goodness sake, get Sara back to present time.

  87. I was first confused, but then I realized - you mean Moriarty in an Elementary sense, right? Yeah, that would be neat. I mean they finally have found an actress who can fully keep up with MB. The scene of those two are great.
I wonder if they intend to cut Laurel's character loose. It currently looks that way.

  88. Didn't Laurel mention he went to visit his mother shortly before she died?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Oh yeah, that meeting. One of the most boring storylines of this Grimm season..

    ReplyDelete
  90. And yet it was a hundred times better than obsession via love potion and amnesia.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I'll have to rewatch the scene at some point and check. If Donner and company knew that Blood came to visit the same night the mother died, and still thought Laurel was making baseless accusations, I'm gonna have to agree with Shannon and others who said the writers dumbed other characters down to make Laurel seem smart (or at least, to set up her hitting rock bottom).

  92. Interestingly, I've had the opposite experience in a certain sense: when a show starts to get weak and I'm not enjoying it much in general, I pick on more and more details that don't make sense and get annoyed at things I would've likely handwaved if I was still crazy about the show.

However, I do feel that a show getting really good heightens the expectations, sometimes too much. The second half of Nikita's first season and then it second season were such stellar TV, in every way, that I was expecting to be blown away by the third season, and ended up being very disappointed. It wasn't that the episodes stopped being compelling and fun to watch - but whereas in the past, the more I analyzed the episode, the more layers and complexity I would realize it had, in Season 3 further analysis only seemed to reveal plot holes and characters acting unlike themselves/stupidly/selfishly as a plot device.

  93. Regarding your last sentence - Spencer did interact with Blood, but Slade/Blood and Malcolm are two different factions, no?

P.S. If Malcolm used his influence in the DA's office to make Moira's trial so absurd and full of plot holes, I hope Oliver really kicks his ass this time... ha. ;)

  94. Donner said he couldn't risk losing his own job right now going after the most popular candidate for mayor a few months after being forced Vertigo in Starling City TV. The writers gave him a strong reasoning for not being able to help Laurel imo, and so I can't understand how this equals "dumbing down" his character..

    ReplyDelete
  95. I do have to give them credit - I don't think Oliver has half as many shirtless scenes this year compared to last. I suspect they played the hell out of the Amell Abs card because they were trying to capture the 18-34W demo (which, until recently, made the majority of The CW's audience). Now that the show has an established following (more male than female, but that's actually a good thing for them since young men are such an elusive demo), they don't need that anymore.

  96. Yeah, Grimm has had quite a few storyline that made me roll my eyes in the past couple of seasons, and in the previous episode (the rape one,) I actually got tired from every person in Portland being a wesen.. at least this week's Grimm episode was better.

    ReplyDelete
  97. That was badly phrased on my part, sorry. I meant my problem was with him thinking Laurel's suspicions were so far-fetched if she did in fact have proof that Blood was at the institution the night of his mother's death. It adds credence to the idea that his mother was killed to silence her, a few days after she told Laurel he killed his father, and that seems like something that justifies looking into the matter. However, I admit that I could be remembering wrong again. If Donner didn't say that Laurel's theory is ridiculous, but only that he can't, in practice, investigate Blood because he would be risking his entire career on it, then it makes perfect sense.

    ReplyDelete
  98. That's a good point, yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  99. That's what Donner said, that he couldn't risk his entire career and that Laurel was alone in this. Personally, it was the first episode where I thought Donner had some purpose. Till now, he was just there.
Also, Laurel has no proof that Mia was Blood's mother. According to the Starling City records (which I guess Blood altered) she was his aunt, and we don't know in which frequency Blood visited her or the mental institution. His visit didn't seem suspicious to the staff there and they didn't suspect him.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Yeah, but here's the thing. The fact that Laurel visited his mother/aunt and was told that Blood killed his father wasn't suspicious in itself - everyone thought she was crazy. Even her dying a few days later didn't amount to much, because what she told Laurel sounded ridiculous and no one had any reason to believe she had been killed to silence her, as opposed to dying because of her heart condition. But when you add the fact that Blood visited right before she died, all of these pieces of info together are enough to raise suspicion, and everyone believing she was Blood's aunt rather than his mother doesn't negate that. I mean... the woman accuses someone of a horrible crime. A few days later, he visits her, and she dies the same night. None of these things would look odd in isolation, but put them together and it's too much of a coincidence to be ignored.

But all of that said - again, I concede your point. For all we know, Donner was inclined to believe Laurel, but he wasn't going to pursue the issue because it was too much of a professional risk. If anyone should've been more suspicious given all of the above, it's Oliver or Quentin. I wonder if the discovery that Laurel had been "using" made it difficult to assess the facts neutrally - it made them believe she was wrong no matter what. That was the point made earlier, which I referred to: that Laurel had enough of a case for others to take it seriously even if her substance abuse was a good reason to doubt her.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oliver did follow her lead though, this is why they went to dig up the file to find evidence that supported her theory about Blood's father's death, but there was nothing there. We know why there was nothing there - Slade has it, and we know why Felicity and Oliver can't retrieve this info - it was never uploaded to any computer.
Basically they have nothing but Laurel's hearsay, and if Blood's mother died of cardiac arrest due to him scaring her then Laurel really does have nothing to support her claim.

    ReplyDelete
  102. They really do have to add more humans to the mix imo.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Yes. I do believe Slade/Blood and Malcom are different factions. What I meant was if Blood had any influence in DA's office if at all then it must be with Spencer. But I thing she is Malcom's lackey.

I agree. I badly want to see Oliver having a rematch with Malcom. I hope he kick his ass next time :). It would be really satisfying. Then they can team up to kick Slade's ass and what a beautiful ass it is :p.

  104. What I now think is that when Blood visited Maya in the hospital and left first time she was alive and the nurse must have seen her alive.

Later at night he must have come to the hospital in mask and terrorized her to death without any one noticing. After all every villain in this show has ninja powers to silently enter and exit any where.

    ReplyDelete
  105. You're forgetting that no one knows about the serum but the Arrow team and Slade\Blood. The police has no clue. And as for whether the cop could do it or not, does he really have less resources than Blood? But with the guy in the mask dead, Oliver has no one to question now and no further investigation that he could do until the Mirakuru shows up again.

    ReplyDelete
  106. That's a good theory, actually. If he came back a second time without the staff seeing him, no one would be able to connect him to his mother's death because she was clearly still alive and well after he was gone. In theory he could've poisoned her or something, sure, but the autopsy said she died of a heart attack, not something that could've happened in delay. (Lol at everyone being able to get in and out of places without being seen. Yeah.)

I agree that Donner seemed nicer in this episode. There was something smarmy about him before, and trying to hit on Laurel, his employee (their dinner right before the DUI), didn't help. Maybe his near-death experience of being abducted by The Count had a positive effect on him, heh.

  107. Another awesome episode. Great use of Laurel and I was also a big fan of the Roy storyline. I am a bit tired of the Sebastian storyline though, I wish he was the one Laurel had killed.
