Once Upon A Time - Season 3 - Jamie Chung talks Mulan/Aurora

Jan 19, 2014

a majority of fans had hoped for a Mulan-Aurora romance. And when we chatted with Chung at the 2014 Winter TCA Press Tour, she told us how "glad" she was when the ABC fantasy hit's creative team decided to go there with Mulan's storyline.

"When I was filming that, it was like an ongoing inside joke between Sarah and I. Like, 'I secretly really care about you,' Chung recalled. "And the audience as well, there was this conspiracy online, like, 'Mulan loves Aurora!' And I'm really glad that the writers listened because I really do think that's what they planned from the beginning. They're all about twists and like, why not? It felt so natural to begin with."

But Chung is totally down to pay Storybrooke another visit, saying, "Are you kidding me? I think it would be really disappointing to leave the audience with this giant question mark. I would go back in a heartbeat."

  1. So what are the "MULAN'S IN LOVE WITH PHILIP!!!!!!!!!!!!" contingent going to say now that both Jamie and Sarah have talked about Mulan/Aurora?

I do think Mulan's bisexual and that she was in love with Philip at one point (before falling in love with Aurora), so I'm going to have to disagree with Jamie there.

But God, I need it to happen so bad.

  3. Eh, she probably had this interview before the TCA panel. She has to talk up Believe. And Jamie's just saying here that

  4. whatever she says I doubt she'll say no to returning if the paycheck is right and her schedule is free.
I REALLY liked Mulan and Aurora (as characters, I like the romantic angle so far but let's see what they'll do with it).

  6. I care. I really enjoyed both the actresses and the storyline. It was refreshing and unique and I would like to see a conclusion, and there are many people who feel the same.

  7. Love her! Hope she does return to OUAT though, not sure if Believe will make it for a 2nd season. Congrats on the engagement too

  8. Yep, as Jamie Chung says, leaving us with a big question mark would be disappointing as heel.

  9. Seriously who took those people seriously. (double seriously?!?!?!)

  10. I think people took her previous comment out of context. Big time. She said she wasn't sure if she would ever go back, not that she wasn't sure she WANTED to go back. There's a huge difference.

  11. I'm with you. I think they made their point that Mulan is bi and now she has to move on and find someone else, unless they're gonna kill Philip off (which is such a shame, when one considers the effort they made saving him).

At this point, as much as I do hope to see Mulan again, I'm looking forward to getting to know Channing (her Believe character) better. And honestly as Mulan finds someone she cares about without ruining others lives (Aurora & Philip & the baby), that's all I care about.

  12. Amen to that! Sometimes they do not know to call it a day.

  13. I like the idea of Mulan-Aurora but I really don't want them to just ignore Philip in the scenario just because a lot of people like the idea of Mulan-Aurora.

  15. On the first time she appeared they made it look like she was in love with Philip but at the same time we were seeing her acting all strange with Aurora and i get why one might get confused she was jealous of him but because of her cause she loves her not him, might sound confusing but is not... and i like what they did with Mulan... i remember they saying a comic-con about the "gay" character and i thought it would be kind of a big storyline but she had to leave and it feels like they cut it out.... i hope she returns... if not to stay with Aurora better go back to find a way of move on with someone else...
