I actually thought OUAT was going to stick to fictional characters. I didn't expect them to go the Doctor Who route and have actual historical figures on the show. They've never had actual famous people before, right?
No, I can't think of any 'real' people so far. Although I've said that if Pocahontas showed up, I might have to give up on the show. As long as Blackbeard is only a one-ep thing, maybe I can handle the mixing in of a 'real person'. I wish they would have stuck with the traditional fairy tales and stayed away from the Disney stuff like Mulan. I also think I would have preferred Camelot and Merlin to Oz and the Wicked Witch. But, we'll see...it's honestly much more the excellent actors that keep me around than the writing anyway.
I think technically the first 2 episodes of the season counted as the 2 parter. AM said he would only do another 2 parter if he found the story to tell, but it looks like he has more important stuff for us.
OK, but how many people (not of Asian heritage) heard of her before the Disney movie? Then again, IMO, there are too many people who have only ever seen the Disney versions of Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, etc. and have never read the original tales. Yes, Adam and Eddie are putting their own twists on the stories, but there's still way too much Disney influence here for my taste. (What else should I expect from a show on a Disney owned network? Although season 1 felt like there was less of it.) Give me "Into the Woods" instead - continue, jump off from, intertwine the stories...use some creativity instead of just making everybody related or having different characters from different stories being the same person (Peter Pan is the Pied Piper, Rumple is the Crocodile). It's my opinion...not all will agree. I just think they have moved away from what made season 1 great and found the first half of this season pretty boring considering the adventures they could have had in Neverland - instead they just mostly stood around wondering what to do and bickering among themselves. But, like I said, I enjoy it for the performances much more than for the writing...and, so far, thank goodness, at least it hasn't become weird on the level of season 5 of Lost yet.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Banshee: I kind of like what Lucas and Siobhan have going on, so I´m excited for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteNo Castle 2 parter anymore? could have sworn i saw seamus say that they would lol

ReplyDeleteI'd be happy never to see a two-parter again. IMO they are the weakest episodes of every season - except season 2.
ReplyDeleteMulan isn't originally Disney. The disney character was adapted from a folk tale about a legendary Chinese heroine named Mulan.

ReplyDeleteI'm very torn, I love their chemistry but I kinda love the angst of Lucas and Carrie too.
ReplyDeleteH50 2 spoilers now that's what I like! Haven't heard 2 of them :D
ReplyDeleteNope the last 2 bored me to sleep :(

ReplyDeleteThe show is literally Disney fanfiction.
