How I Met Your Mother - Season 9 - Cobie Smulders Interview

IGN TV: So six weeks left! Are you feeling the emotions right now, or are you just like, "We have to get through these episodes! We have work to do"?
Cobie Smulders:
You know, I have from the beginning with this last season [felt the emotions]. I've just been very present and really trying to enjoy every minute. I do find myself getting nostalgic -- not so much thinking about the future, but I just try to enjoy everything -- the crew, our stories, these characters. I feel now, every time I go in to do a scene, I'm more precious with it than I have been in years. It's like, "Well, what about we do it this way?" or, "What if I tried this?" I'm playing with it more now, because I just know that I'm not going to be able to play this character for much longer.

IGN: You haven't seen the very end, the final scripts, although Neil [Patrick Harris] says he asked what was going to happen at the Christmas party and was given the answer.
Smulders:
I know the whole thing.

IGN: You know the whole thing too?
Smulders:
You know what's so funny is, like, a week before Neil did that, I went up to Craig [Thomas] after the table read, and I was like, "What is the deal with this?" He was like, "Well, do you want me to tell you?" I was like, "Yeah! I think I want to know," and he just laid it out. I immediately started weeping and had to leave. Like, I had to leave. I said that, I was like, "Craig, I have to leave right now. Thank you," and I just walked away.

IGN: So suffice to say, you think it's an effective ending?
Smulders:
I do. You know, I feel it's very beautiful and very true to life. That's what I feel about it.

  3. On the one hand I can't wait to see the last remaining episodes of HIMYM and how they are going to end it, but on the other hand then it will be officially over.. and I'm not ready for that yet.

  4. Ugh, can't believe it's almost over but I feel like Cobie. I feel emotional with each episode that passes it's really starting to affect me but I'm trying not to get too emotional yet. I guess the finale will be emotional, I don't know what to take from that but I hope it's a good finale and one I'm pleased with.
