Condola Rashad, coming off her starring turn opposite Orlando Bloom in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway, has been tapped to co-star in Fox‘s 13-episode series Hieroglyph. Produced by 20th TV and Chernin Entertainment, Hieroglyph, which is eyed for next season, is set in ancient Egypt, where fantasy and reality intertwined. It follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharoah (Reece Ritchie), navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers.

Condola, repped by Harden Curtis and Assoc. and Brookside Artist Management, will play Nefertari, the Pharaoh’s half-sister with a rare beauty that intimidates even the strongest of suitors… and she knows it.

  1. This show screams for a pairing with Sleepy Hollow, doesn't it?

  2. Hieroglyph! That names screams being shouted out loud every time you say the name of the series. It looks like FOX will pair it with Sleepy Hollow yes. I dont see the point of setting it after Idol/X-Factor, since we know the show will air this fall or early 2015.

  3. I saw her on Broadway. She was good if not outstanding, although the role of Juliet is rather limiting so she may be more talented still.

  4. YES. And I hope they do! I've always been fascinated with Egyptian mythology, and if this show has a big budget to convincingly pull it off I'll *so* be there. If there was a night of Sleepy Hollow and Heiroglyph I could see myself changing my work schedule to have that night off, lol.

  5. Ahah talk about excitement. The only thing is that I still want my Almost Human renewed even if it moves nights, so I don't want to jinx it too much by wishing for this pairing. I am also curious to see what they will pair Gotham with. Maybe Gotham/Almost Human? No idea what that leaves The Following with though.

  6. I'm a great fan of Egyptian mythology ever since I visited the country as a child. It was one of the things that first attracted me to Stargate. So the premise of the show appealed to me, and I'm liking their casting choices so far. Will definitely check this one out. Hopefully the writing and plot will live up to expectations as well.
