Hart of Dixie - Episode 3.09 - Something to Talk About - Review

Hart of Dixie returned this week after a rather long winter break that attached to the polar weather almost killed us all by boredom. Anyway it returned in all its glory, filled with the usual shenanigans, with Zoe going “bananas” with her cousin Vivian dating Wade (of course) and Lavon going all undercover spy while trying to stop the Bluebell/Fillmore town merger. Ah, and proving ALL my assumptions made in my last review, as completely wrong. Let’s begin…

Zoe, Vivian, and “going bananas”

After last year’s midseason finale we were able to see that the relation between Vivian and Zoe started to grow and was something that, probably, could last. I have to admit that was something that really made me happy, cause family values are important in my life so I like to see them being respected. Also in that particular episode, Vivian experienced a, let’s call it, chemistry when talked to Wade. So this week it was no surprise that the two of them were all “check up on me” while Wade run into Zoe and Vivian when the girls were returning home after a tennis game. I don’t have to say that Zoe’s jealousy level went through the roof.

First, she tried to ignore it (Zoe 101) but she soon realize it was something real when Vivian started talking about dating again after her divorce (where did we already seen all of this?). So, to solve her problems she put in practice all of her technics and did what…tried to tie up her cousin with one of the bachelors from Lemon’s “eligible bachelor” list instead of telling the truth and admitting that Wade is, above all, a good guy.

It was pretty clear that Zoe was being irrational, even Joel, who usually seems to be voluntarily blind to Zoe’s extreme behavior noticed she was worrying about the Vivian/ Wade relationship a little bit too much. For him she was going “bananas” over a little thing, for us she was just acting really jealous. Maybe Joel knows this as well but he is really good at not acting out over Zoe’s behavior and for me, that is what maintains their relationship together after all those two went through.

Anyway, it was to Zoe that Vivian went, asking for advice about Wade.” Is he a good guy “– she asked and Zoe refused to give an opinion. That made Wade step out of the cave he was hidden for the last episodes and confront Zoe directly (surprise!!). Zoe tried to defend herself, saying she pretended to stay neutral to the matter but Wade figured out what all of us can clearly see, she is jealous and because of that she refuses to admit what everyone in Bluebell already recognized: Wade changed for good.

I think they are both hurt with each other, Zoe because he kind of cheated on her and Wade because after confessing his true feelings, Zoe just fled away. For me Zoe is just afraid of falling again in just to be hurt again as she’s been before.

In the end after a small talk with Rose about journalistic integrity and what kind of news really needs to be reported for Bluebell's good, and why it might be better to hold back on certain tidbits that don't really pose much potential for a positive impact for the town, Zoe applied the theory to her own situation and ended up being the bigger person, telling Vivian, Wade is a really decent guy with plenty of potential for growth.

So, it was a “two steps back three steps forth” in Zoe/Wade relationship this week, but I think that when they finally settle down to have the conversation we all are expecting, the results will be amazing and unexpected. I mean I hope they end together (Please, make them end together….).

“Bluemore”, “FillBell” and fake secret love affairs

This week’s main plotline sure kept Zoe busy, but nothing stopped her from getting held up in the supposed town merger situation between Bluebell and Filmore that did not make Lavon happy. The mayor of Bluebell tried everything to keep Dash from reporting the potential merger to every Bluebell resident, who would, without any doubt freak the hell out, so he got help from his best pals, the doctor, the writer, the lawyer and girlfriend.

The impossible mission they put in practice was composed by two active fronts. While AB and Joel faked an affair to caught Dash’s love for scandal, George and Lavon sneaked into a Fillmore party to find out why the mayor of the neighbor town suddenly is OK with the merger going through, all of this with the precious help of undercover agent Tansy. When they discovered that Fillmore’s mayor wants to create “East” and “West” Fillmore kicking Bluebell out of the map is was more the obvious the merger needed to be stopped.

Lemon’s absence was felt. If she was in the episode she would be the one creating the schemes to end the merger alongside with Zoe, Wade, George and AB so when Wade said “Lemon’s away, so you’re filling the shenanigans vacuum?” I laughed and missed her because it was really a spot on observation.
Please Lemon come back soon…

Lavon, AB and “hand movements”

Ok, so this was really the laugh-out-loud part of the episode, the hilarious fake fight scene sure made AB shine as she incentivized Lavon to make some “hand movements” so the outsiders were leaded to think they were having an intense argument. AB is really fun when under pressure. I just love her.

The Bluebellians reaction to the merger news was also funny and the “Panic Now” shouts just made it better.

Finish Line Thoughts

This week’s episode sure threw some ashes in the ex-‘s bonfire, not only Wade/Zoe but also George/Tansy. It’s all becoming to clear and Lavon is worried that George is fooling Lynly and going to hurt with that. I personally don’t like Tansy, not a little bit, but I can’t deny the chemistry floating around them.

I miss Lemon, already said it before, but I have to add that the writers are really explaining her absence very well. I hope that she returns with something new to turn the all series upside down (again…)

What did you think of this week’s episode? What do you think will happen to Wade/Vivian now that they have Zoe’s seal of approval? Is George and Tansy a good match or is he better off with Lynly now? Share your thoughts in the comments, they exist for that, and don’t forget to tune in Monday for another episode of Hart of Dixie.
