Coercion - NBC orders Thriller Drama Pilot based on Israeli format The Gordin Cell

NBC followed up the two comedy pilot orders this afternoon with a pickup for drama Coercion (formerly M.I.C.E.). Based on the Israeli format The Gordin Cell, the project hails from Universal Television and Keshet Media Group, which is behind the original series; along with Israeli satcaster YES, which airs it; and Tedy Prods, which produces it. Written-directed by George Nolfi, the high-octane thriller revolves around the O’Connor family and their son, Alex, a decorated American war hero and CIA analyst who is a true patriot and loves his country and family. Unbeknownst to him, both of his parents and his sister are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Once the parents are reluctantly pulled back in, the stakes rise they are coerced into spying on their own son and turning him against his country.

  1. Geez a name change please. The amount of shows titled with a single noun or verb is getting so silly! It's hard to keep track of them sometimes unless you make an effort.

  2. At least it's better than M.I.C.E.

  3. It looks so great that NBC will cancel it after one episode.

  5. Nothing about it sounds interesting to me and I do like M.I.C.E. better than Coercion. It will depend on who the actors are if I even try it. I think the problem is I am so old that I have seen every plot anyone can think of, so it all boils down to actors. lol

  6. No, your thinking of ABC,there the ones doing that lately. NBC has burnt itself too many times by doing that,i believe they will give it a chance especially if they order 13 eps.

  9. It could be amazing if well written and acted, because the starting point is very interesting.

I just hope they find it a new name. Coercion is lame, but as Babar (above) observed, is better than M.I.C.E.

Sounds like FX or Showtime series, not NBC
