Chicago Fire - Episode 2.11 - Shoved In My Face - Review

Happy 2014 guys! Hope ya’ll had a great time during the holidays. It has been almost a month since the fall finale, let’s get started shall we?

It’s been six weeks since Casey’s incident and he’s feeling better than ever, or at least that’s what he thinks. He’s back working at 51, but having trouble remembering his locker combination. He also lost control and punched a guy several times during a call. It seems like Casey is losing it. Isn’t there any mandatory therapy or something that they have to go through before heading back to work? Or maybe that doesn’t happen for firefighters because I’ve watched too many police and medical dramas? The Dawsey ship is sailing smoothly, the couple announced their relationship to the crew at 51 and everybody’s happy for them(who wouldn’t be?). As a cherry on top of the Dawsey sundae, Casey asks Dawson to move in together. I personally think maybe this is moving too fast? Something is bound to happen.

Dawson makes it to the fire academy, all excited and willing to learn. Severide is her instructor, what are the odds. There’s another female candidate too, Jones, the sea probably didn’t work out too well for her(Lieutenant Shepard from Last Resort). Perhaps a new love interest for Severide?

With Dawson at the academy, Shay’s got a new partner and her name is Allison Rafferty. I will miss Shawson. A tiny part of me wishes she couldn’t cut it as a firefighter and that she’ll return to being the paramedic rockstar she used to be. A girl can hope? Anyway, Rafferty started out a little icy towards Shay, saying she respects her lifestyle choice but just wants to keep this professional. At first I was thinking, Homophobic much? But she started to warm up around Shay at the end, helping her dodge a bullet. It was nice. I believe this might be the start of a beautiful friendship. I kinda like this duo. Maybe I won’t miss Shawson as much? Hang on a second… Now that I think of it, maybe Rafferty might be Shay’s new love interest? Let’s see how this might pan out. The shooting incident is back to haunt Shay. There’s a lawyer looking for her. Poor Shay, I hope she doesn’t spiral back into the hole she just climbed out of.

Clarke is looking guiltier by the second but he’s keeping his mouth shut to protect Lisa. I knew he didn’t kill the guy, the writers dropped hints everywhere and it would be too obvious for us. I also like the bromance between Mills and Clarke and how he’s being treated as a part of their family.

Speaking of Mills, he made it to Squad! And that’s it though. I’ve got nothing much to say regarding this storyline. Let’s just hope he doesn’t screw up, which I think he will.

Otis and Severide’s sister Katie is really cute together. This is going to be interesting, I wonder how Severide will react.

I think this episode is a good start to the New Year and the second half of the season. I’m excited to see if Dawson actually makes it as a firefighter. And I hope Casey gets better. Can’t Dawsey take a break and be happy for even a couple of episodes? What do you guys think of the episode? Let me know!
