    I think the cast is the best part of the show, there is not one weak link in the cast of characters in my opinion.

    I'm reading the first book right now and the characters are exactly like they are in the book bar Jeremy and Clay - Jeremy is not assertive enough and Clay is not cocky enough. There is a really good reason why Clay was hanging around Elena in 1x02.. and I dont think that came across in the show. {SPOILERS: he was basically found in the woods by Jeremy as a kid, so has little regard for humans and very little experience around women)
