ReplyDeleteAdmittedly,I haven't watched the show(not sure if I will) and I don't know how much they're following real events.That being said,Mary did marry Francis,so the man has history on his side.

ReplyDeleteIt is fake history. Fiction. And you should watch the show. I thought it was so bad that I didnt even finish the trailer but after watching the first episode It became one of my favorite cw shows and I almost watch all cw shows

ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to decide if I wanna watch it or not.I'm a history student,so usually period dramas and shows that evolve around historical figures are definitely my thing.I get that they're going for fiction and I don't think I'll mind the inaccuracies.That being said my taste is closer to shows like Spartacus,Rome or The Tudors.
I'll probably give it a shot when I have time.Could be fun...
They were teaching me about Mary Queen of Scots while I was watching Reign and everything was different. The only thing i noticed the same were the names and I like this better even though Mary queen of scots is one of my favorite people and story in history
ReplyDeleteI suppose they'll follow history on that front depending on how many seasons the show gets but currently I dont know. I like both Francis and Bash, at the moment I would say I'm team Bash.

Same here, history is kind of my thing and I loved Rome and The Tudors as well. I didn't think I'd like this show either but, considering Mary Queen of Scots has been my obsession since I was and found out we shared a birthday. The the thing that bothers me the most, though I understand why they had to change it, is that all her ladies were also named Mary and none of them were low born. But since they gave me a few supernatural elements for plot twists, I just kind of take it for what it is and it's refreshing change of pace from other CW shows I watch. Definitely try it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd prefer it if she ended up with Bash if he actually ends up getting legitimized. He and Mary just might be unstoppable as rulers.

ReplyDeleteSame happened to me. I thought it was terrible just from the promos, but a friend had me watch it and I really fell in love with it.
ReplyDeleteYou're not weird :) I think that's a good idea as well, but I doubt they'll kill off Francis unless it's the last season or episode.. He's a main character, I guess he'll stick around for a long while ;)

ReplyDeleteYou can't really care about historical accuracy and compare this show to history! It is a total fabrication. The thing that bugs me are the costumes. I love the Elizabethan period costumes, and these costumes are mostly really cheesy. Only Mary's poster costume is remotely accurate to the period. Most "historical" dramas are way off, so I've stopped looking for much historical accuracy....
ReplyDeleteI am not watching this show for her romantic story lines; but if CW decides to follow the history 100% she will be with Francis till… well, we will all see. Of course this doesn't mean I like Francis at all. I found this show surprisingly beautiful and curious for a CW tv-show. I am afraid to see losing interest if they focus on Mary's romantic life, even when I found really cute Bash I don't want to lose the plot of the main storyline.

Francis is a douchebag who doesn't deserve Mary!!! Plus he treats her like shit EVERY episode!!! Not to mention the way he acted in the last episode..telling Mary that she can be with anyone EXCEPT Bash and then running to fuck Olivia (the same girl he had said in 1x05 that he could take as his MISTRESS!!!) YEAH, FRARY IS SO ROMANTIC!!! - SPARE ME!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd before you get all historical on me with "she will pick Francis etc" I studied Mary Queen of Scots at University in detail, so I already know that she marries Francis for two years before he DIES..and yes Sebastian is a MADE UP character...but I would rather see her with someone that actually deserves her and treats her right; rather than someone who keeps playing with her heart and is using her for her country's alliance!!! I hope the show follows the course of history, that way when Francis dies she can be with Bash <333
In reality he dies at 16, so he'll probably leave early.
