2013 Episode Competition American Horror Story Bones Cancelled Shows Chicago Fire Doctor Who Supernatural The MentalistAnd so, the inaugural Favourite Episode competition begins…
The draw was done so that:
1. The top 8 seeds (in bold) cannot face each other until the quarter-finals.
2. No episodes of the same show face each other in the first round
The rules are as follows:
1. Two episodes go head to head for 24 hours. The episode that emerges as winner will go through to the next round.
2. Vote for your favourite episode, and tell us what you voted for.
3. Tell others about the competition.
4. Be respectful. This is a competition, but be friendly.
First up, we have the popular show The Mentalist, with its first post Red John era episode competing against new show Dracula with its fifth episode. We then move on to American Horror Story, with its episode 'Burn, Witch, Burn!', which is up against Bones's wedding episode.
Our third poll features Burn Notice's series finale competing against Chicago Fire episode 'You Will Hurt Him'. The final poll today includes Doctor Who's season 7 finale against fan favourite Supernatural's midseason finale.
The draw:

Ooh, looking forward to this.
ReplyDeleteSome tough choices already.
Today's Picks
The Mentalist
American Horror Story
Burn Notice
Doctor Who
Any reason The Originals isn't on that poll ?
ReplyDeleteDo you mean why isn't it on any of the matches on the draw?
ReplyDeleteDidn't get enough nominations to make it to the competition stage.
ReplyDeleteBones of course! And Burn Notice!
ReplyDeleteoh, alright. Seems like I have to rally the TO fanbase together next year ^^
ReplyDeleteYep :)
ReplyDeleteThe only episode I've seen in the polls is The Name of the Doctor, which I have voted for. Can't see it beating SPN on this site thou :)
ReplyDeletehaving seen both and loving both shows equally I have to say that Name of the Doctor (as well as season 7 overall) was weak. Moffat has his head simply to far up his a** at this point and seems to smirk devilishly while saying 'oooh blimey, I'm sooo darn clever' while writing one of his pseudo deep plot twists.
ReplyDeleteI'm 100% sure to this point Moffat has no idea why he introduced the war doctor instead of simply having 8 in this role. He effectively screwed up the regeneration order just to push his stamp on the show even more.
Supernatural, while clearly not as good as in its golden days, reached a high point with 'Holy Terror' for the season.
Has nothing to do with the sire, rather the individual episodes quality.
The Mentalist, Bones, Burn Notice and Doctor who for this round.
ReplyDeleteMy Blue Heaven (The Mentalist) of course! This is one of the best episodes of the show.
ReplyDeleteNo POI?
ReplyDeleteNo Vote
AHS for me (Its the only show I watch) LOL
ReplyDeleteBones and the Mentalist for me...don't watch any of the other shows
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Are you seriously saying that «The Decision Tree» got more votes than «Hitting the Fan»? Unexpected...
ReplyDeleteNo, actually it's the other way around. Hitting the Fan is one of the top 8.
ReplyDeleteOnly show I watch in this round is Doctor Who so I voted for that even if Day of the Doctor should have been in the competition (surprised Name got more votes)
ReplyDeleteNo , it's not in these polls.
ReplyDeleteWhy even make that comment?
The Day of the Doctor is in the competition. It's in the upper right hand side of the spreadsheet, against Bones' 'The Woman in White'.
ReplyDeleteDoh having a moment there, thanks!
ReplyDeleteRevenge's "Truth" vs Revolution's "Everyone says I love you" will be a good one! One of Revenge's best episode against the best episode Revolution ever made.
ReplyDeleteI'll be rooting for both of Fringe's episode (though "An enemy of fate" is the best in my opinion)
The Mentalist, Bones, nothing, SPN for me today:)
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist, Bones, Chicago Fire and Supernatural for me today.
ReplyDeleteFor me, 3 out of the 4 polls were easy.
ReplyDelete1) Mentalist. I'm a little behind, so I haven't watched the episode yet, but I don't watch Dracula, so that was easy.
2) Bones. I don't watch American Horror Story, so again, easy pick.
3) This was tough as I watch both shows, but I chose Burn Notice. Mainly because I haven't seen the Chicago Fire episode yet.
4) Supernatural. While almost nothing for me beats SPN, I also have never seen Doctor Who, so the choice was pretty clear.
I agree that much of S7 hasn't been great, but TNotD is one of the best received episodes of DW in a long, long time....if I recall it scored an 87% or 88% in the AI, and also got very high reviews all round. It even got classic fans excited for the 50th, which seemed a near impossible thing in many eyes until this episode aired, lol.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the War Doctor, using McGann just wouldn't have worked in the same way at all, Hurt brought special something to the 50th imo. I dunno why people complain about Moffat 'pushing his stamp' on the show, that's exactly what a show runner is for and what each and everyone of DW's one have done in the past, why should the current one be any different?
I assume you mean the site rather than the sire? If so, you obviously don't know how popular STV is with SPN fans and competition polls, lol.
The Mentalist, Bones, Chicago Fire and Doctor Who (sorry SPN).
ReplyDeleteEasy choices for me today..
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist, although i don't care that much about this particular poll
American Horror Story
Burn Notice
Doctor Who, as much as i love Supernatural, that was a no-brainer for me
oh i see :D
ReplyDeleteSpoilerTV you have The Woman in White listed twice...once in today's poll and once in a future poll (paired with "Day of the Doctor")...figured I'd let you know
ReplyDeleteOnly voted AHS since it's the only episode I've seen from the ones in today's polls.
ReplyDeleteRos, That you? Of course Bones and Burn Notice (RIP).
ReplyDeleteOops. Should be updated now.
ReplyDeleteIt's Robin--is that Sue from the "old" Fox site Bones list? It looks like your Elevator Gang Jacket! ;o)
ReplyDeleteAtleast there is a possibility to see The Blacklist and Sleepy hollow pilots in the final :D
ReplyDeletehum next round against Bones is gonna be interesting.. THE MENTALIST 2.0 YOOO!!!!!!
ReplyDeletesite, yeah sry :P
ReplyDeleteI don't. All I know is that there're some seriously hard core Sam fans, Beauty and the Beast fans and Castle fans out there. You can't even criticice it
Just doctor who for me today and the mentalist.
ReplyDeleteRobin,
ReplyDeleteSo good to see you! Yes That's my Elevator Gang jacket.
If SPN beats Doctor Who, I don't vote ever again on this trend
ReplyDeleteVoted Doctor Who (even though I must admit I found Holy Terror quite good for SPN) Burn Notice, and AHS
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist
ReplyDeleteDang! Doctor Who VS Supernatural this is impossible to choose from
ReplyDeleteI am a Doctor Who fan - but I honestly didn't like "The Name of the Doctor". In fact, I thought that the 7th season was pretty weak overall with a few exceptions. I also watch SPN and feel that season 9 is much better than some of its recent previous seasons. "Holy Terror" was one of the best episodes of season 9 IMO. To me, voting for SPN was a clear choice.
ReplyDeleteToday's picks:
ReplyDeleteThe mentalist
Bones
Chicago Fire
and Supernatural
doctor who was my vote for today.
ReplyDeleteAmerican Horror Story: Burn, Witch. Burn. This episode was chock full of grossness and drama, from Madame LaLaurie's Halloween party, where she passed around bowls of slave eyeballs, to the acid burning of Cordelia's face, to Zoe saving the day by leading the zombies around and slaying them with a chainsaw. Fun times.
ReplyDeleteBones \o/
ReplyDeleteOnly The Mentalist for me. As it's the only show i watch it was fairly simple lol..tried to get into Dracula and just couldn't
ReplyDeleteAlso, so excited to see two Blacklist episodes on the horizon as well as Sleepy Hollow:)
Wow, my exact votes. Just Bones and Burn Notice, both AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteTM one of the best episodes!
ReplyDeleteCF
It's funny because all the polls on this site is not the best, but which series has the biggest fans here.
ReplyDeleteAHS's episodes is incredible, a show of acting and script, and is losing. :(
So sad about this.
Supernatural-Holy Terror. Hope this goes a long way this episode :)
ReplyDeleteGod I hate SPN is against Doctor Who. Because DW is going to lose and that was an AMAZING ep of the series. Better than Holy Terror was for SPN.
ReplyDeleteI think they leave McGann alone so Big Finish can keep doing what they want with the character as long as they can. Plus, it may be legal issues as well. They can't cover the Time War and I'm sure they want to do as much as possible storywise with him until it gets to the point in "Night of the Doctor" where he dies and chooses to become this War Doctor character.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean
ReplyDeleteIt's very unfortunate isn't it, it's something I have gotten used to over the years thou. We all know that SPN or Castle will win any competition before it starts, lol.
ReplyDeleteNot a single one episode of Person of Interest on this poll ? That's weird, considering the 3 last ones were brilliant...
ReplyDeleteThis is only the first 4 polls for Round 1.
ReplyDeleteOh ! Thank you :) I didn't understand it that way.
ReplyDeleteNo problem :) The full draw of all episodes is shown in the spreadsheet
ReplyDeleteI wish "Bass Player Wanted" had aired earlier, so I could have voted in it!
ReplyDeleteYeah.
