Thanks to Elena for the heads up.

SUPERNATURAL
“Road Trip” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

DEAN'S BEST CHANCE OF SAVING SAM LIES WITH CROWLEY — Dean (Jensen Ackles) is devastated after Kevin's death and vows to find the angel that killed him, not only to free Sam (Jared Padalecki), but to seek revenge. Castiel (Misha Collins) arrives at the bunker and suggests they try to separate Sam's brain from the angel's so they can talk to Sam and have him expel Gadreel. However, there's one small problem: the only person who knows how to do that is Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Robert Singer directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb (910).

  1. So looking forward to seeing Jared play both Sam and Gadreel in this episode, something tells me its going to be out of this world acting. I wonder if Sam and Gadreel's brians being seperated will allow for them to share Sam's body but for Sam to be able to have more control? This would actually work well in regards to the whole Metatron/angel war storyline as Sam could essentially go in undercover with everyone thinking he's Gadreel but he would be the one in control if he can mantain the control and start getting his strenght while weakening Gadreel untill he's able to complete the task of restoring the angels and is strong enough to oust Gadreel from his body?
I like the idea of Jared playing both parts for the rest of the season and well this would be a hell of a twist and also allow for Sam to still hunt. I wonder too if the rumours of Sam Working with Cas is because Sam/Gadreel and he are going to be working to restore heaven and bring down Metatron, maybe trick him?
This also btw would allow Sam to be more a part of the narrative as Jared promised we would see and also validate Carver's spoilers that we would learn more about Gadreel and that we would see more of him being lured down a darker path by Metatron?

  2. Why would Crowley, who was a lower level demon up until a couple of seasons ago, know more about angel possession than Cas?

  3. He knew Niomi so it seems like he's has dealings with angels in the past plus he is really old so whose to say he hasnt picked up at least fair bit of knowledge about angels and other things along the way?
Plus the plot calls for Crwoley to know how to help so that Dean will make a deal with him, in exchange for helping Sam Dean has to let Crowley go and probably help him get rid of Abaddon hence them working together in episode 11, meeting Cain the first Knight of hell who would know how to kill Abaddon and the aparently epic fight sequence Dean has with most likely Abaddon?

Explains why Crowley was drilling Sam's head!. I hope this revenge of Dean will not completely take him over, which I think through his grief he is still sensible. I also hope Crowley and Cas will have good terms and I got my fingers crossed for Sam to pull through!.

  5. We have come to something on the show when we have the drilling of Sam's head and the separating of his brain from a angel. If he is ok after this then I give up.

  6. Sounds like the usual crap.
Sorry, not even the idea of JP palying two parts can make it sound better. Then what do we need Castiel for, if it's Crowley that has tp do the work? This is going to be a repeat of the Samandriel torture. Well of course Carver can only do bad reboots even of his own stuff!
When one thinks that these Writers have hit rock bottem they manage to come up with something worse!
Just leave Sam alone, you mediocre writers!! GIve us back Sammy!

  7. God, I already forgot about Naomi. First read through and I was thinking, who's Naomi?

  8. Maybe while he's in there he can clean up the pieces of the broken wall that Death left behind. Or was that supposed to be in his soul / chest area?

    ReplyDelete
  9. No defintely in his head .

  10. I love an ep where Jared has a chance to show off his excellent acting, this sounds like one I will like.

  11. I think this is going to be hard to watch. so we have to see them F-up Sam's body just too separate his brain WTF? really that's going too mess him up I think why can't the writers just leave him alone this is just messed up right now.

    ReplyDelete
  12. This is gonna be good.

    ReplyDelete
  13. how about that spell that dean did to power down the angel in holly terror?
do it again this time and talk to sammy
last time gadreel messed it up but this time it will work right?

    ReplyDelete
  14. "Sam! Sammy are you in there?"

"I can't come to the phone right now, he is cleaning up the mess from his holiday with Lucifer in The Cage and of the wall that was broken afterward. Please leave a message. I will return it once my brain is a hazard free zone, some time next century"

    ReplyDelete
  15. LOL! It says something when one of your big bads from last year is totally forgettable.

    ReplyDelete
  16. thats probably why they want to talk to Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  17. its about the only thing they're going to give him so I say this is better than nothing. Besides Jared's acting is going to be out of this world good I can just feel it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. sorry my spelling probably didnt help

  19. Crowley's mother was also a witch, so I assume he just knows a lot of random things about everything.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Huh. So you know EXACTLY what is going to happen without having seen a thing about the episode aside from a sixty second promo? I really do not get some of the fans on here.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Um. Didn't Castiel already fix the damage from the breaking of the wall, by absorbing that damage (and subsequent madness/hallucinations) into his own mind? :-/

    ReplyDelete
  22. Actually no, Cas was clear he couldn't heal the damage or fix Sam, he merely "shifted" the worst of the hallucinations to himself. The wreckage is still hanging around Sam, it has just been ignored.

    ReplyDelete
  23. After the heartbreak in the last ep, I'm looking for a bit of revenge too, Sounds like a great episode, looking real forward to it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. No, I don't know, what is going to happen, but the only innovitive idea, these writers have come up with was the Men of Letters, All the rest has been badly re-booted with stuff that has contradicted a lot of past canon.

Crowley tortured Samandriel; so clearly he knows how to tap angels' brains now. Casteil is probably along for the ride to satisfy his fans by sitting next to Dean in the Impala. As for the rest of the ep. who knows!
If this does turn out to be a thrilling episode i will say so and vote it awesome, if not I'll criticize it.

  25. I didn't see it as he left much of it, I saw it as Cass tooking pretty much all of the mess in him

    ReplyDelete
  26. We do not know what was left. He took on the hallucinations but not the memories but as Percy pointed out it was something that got dropped once we got into Jeremy's era . The truth is Gadreel should have access to those memories in reality they are not acknowledged by the writing team.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If we don't know, why assume the worse, as in there's damage left and it was drop, maybe the damages are just gone. What is it matter if Gadreel have access to the memories? What is he suppose to do with it? You want an episode of Sam talking about all his memories

    ReplyDelete
  28. To me it's not assuming the worst that Sam has the memories of Hell in his head. Taking the memories away takes away something that has made Sam the man he is today. It marginalizes his sacrifice and pumps up Castiel because Castiel "remembers" Sam's torment. I understand that they couldn't have Sam running around with hallucinations 24/7 (although he was more stable hallucinating than Dean was depressed), but to take EVERYTHING away makes Sam more worthless than the writers make him already. It makes Cas the big, brave hero and Sam the incompetent who has his life and his memories ripped away from him. Azazel took away his innocence. Ruby took his sobriety. Cas left him without a soul, but with his memories. Dean stopped his "purification" Gad has taken away control of his body. Sam at least deserves to remember what happened TO HIM in HIS LIFE. The very fact that he survived and lived with the hallucinations proves his strength. Announcing that Cas took all that away is saying that Sam is weak and I HATE that with a passion. The guy deserves to be himself, not some hobbled, crippled version of Sam with no memory and no sense of self.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Is that what I am saying ? I am not assuming the worst I want Sam to still have those memories , after all they are part of him for good or bad and should not something for Sam be sanctum seeing everything else is a open house.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes. Carver did drop the ball as far as that was concerned, but they did briefly show Sam pressing down on his scar during one of his flashbacks with Amelia last season. I thought they were going to reveal that he was still having hallucinations at some point but they never revisited it. Seems like an odd thing to throw into the script if they weren't planning on following through with it, but then again I hated how the hallucination storyline was resolved in season 7 anyway. Sam went from having terrifying hallucinations and not knowing the difference between those and reality in the first 2 episodes to having random bits of Hallucifer being a dick to him, to having Castiel Deus Ex Machina the hallucinations away. That storyline had so much potential to be the creepiest story arc they've ever done and they just sort of dropped it. It was majorly disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not even just that, it's how Castiel reacted to taking Sam's hallucinations that bugged the crap out of me. Sam almost died and Castiel became this loony beekeeper. What the hell? Way to marginalize Sam's suffering. It seems that they do this a lot when it comes to Sam though. Instead of focusing on how he's going to react to being possessed by Gadreel, we'll be seeing more Dean POV and him dealing with his man pain over Kevin's death. It's ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think it's poorly worded and they're not actually going to separate Sam's brain, rather his consciousness. Whoever wrote this synopsis is making it sound like brain surgery or something but I don't think it's to be taken that literally.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It should work. I don't understand the torture either. Seems unnecessary unless they just want information out of Gadreel.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't have so much trouble with Crowley's presence/assistence as I do with Castiel's. The last act with Cas in 909 was him relaying critical info to Dean including Zeke was an imposter and Dean was safer not knowing where he was because the factions would be really hunting him now, So does Dean make a panicked call to Cas telling him that blankety blank fake!Zeke killed Kevin and made off with his brother whom Fake!Zeke said was "no more" and that Cas, I NEED YOU because you're my OTP! (or the writer needed to shoehorn Cas in another episode to fulfill MC's return to Regular status). Sort of makes Dean seem like he can't tie his own shoes without Cas's help/knowledge,

    ReplyDelete
  35. This! That's why is terrifies me that the writers will go the "Insta-heal" route again and have Cas be able to heal Sam completely (if 'they' get Gadreel out') whereas Cas told Dean in 817 that Sam's body was already too damaged for him to heal - and that was shortly after Sam had completed the first trial.

  36. I have no problem with Crowley. I've Always liked him, the only thing I can criticize is that I love him more when he's 100% the evil, smarmy King of Hell. I'm not too fussy on a more 'human' Crowley.
A show like Spn needs a bad guy, and I mean an Alastair/ Zachariah level evil bad guy. I think Carver's mentality fixated on the 'Being Human' idea where monsters have the human softer component.
Even Naomi wasn't particularly scary, nor any of the current angels.
Zeke is probably the scariest,,but only because he's possessing Sam and we're worried about what will happen to Sammy and in consequence Dean.
Metatron too, is interesting I suppose because he's seems to be smart which isn't a characteristic of angels in general!!
As for Castiel, if one takes a step back and observes, he essentially has no role in the show at all. He's there for other reasons which only TPTB know.
In season eight he had nothing to do.
He was a third unneccesary wheel in Purgatory, and a third wheel when he got out.
All he really did was follow Naomi's orders, but any angel could have done that. Same thing with Metatron who could have used any angel to kill the Nephilim etc..
In season nine it's more of the same. Has anything he has done so far been important? No. His 'human' story was a personal thing to him alone. He lost his grace, now he has it back, ho hum!
So really he is only there to occupy screen-time, which could be filled with some more thrilling story-line.
    x
As for Dean, if the writers separate him from Sam it's clear he's going to have to team up with someone-else. and all who remain are Crowley and Castiel so....
Of course Dean has been as OOC as Sam since the beginning of S8; the only true essence of Dean that I can relate to in S9 is his desire to save his brother at all cost. It's what has always kept Dean going through all the bad that has happened to him.
If Carver takes even that away then he will have emptied Dean of all that makes him Dean, the latest being his love for hunting in Bad Boys.
Zachariah told us in It's A Terrible Life how Dean would always find his way back to hunting because tha's what he was born for!
I prefer to stick with past canon than with the mess Carver is making since he took over in S8.

  37. Sam's situation is there to propel Dean's 'dark place' not really to do anything for Sam. My guess would be that while they need Sam to be possessed they will continue the sl and the focus on how terrible it all is for Dean , when that has served it's purpose they will change the situation . Of course that could be 10 minutes into the next episode or 3 episodes down the line but some sort of 'fix ' will happen.

Those fans wanting Sam instant fixed are some of the same ones who believe Sam was blaming Dean in Sacrifice , they do not really care about Sam so a instant heal would suit them down to the ground .

    ReplyDelete
  38. It would be a pity to reduce the Sam/Ezekiel story-line to a quick insta-fix, but the writers have done it before with Sam's hellucinations. In that case it was Castiel 'saving the day' and I'm inclined to think he'll be the one to insta-fix Sam again this time.
After all Sam is being possessed by an angel, and that's right up Castiel's street!
    x
I wish for a change that Sam would take control of Ezekiel and go on a rampage. Just think what a powerful angel with Sam's intelligence and experience could do. He could get Bartholomew and all the dick angels in line before you know it!
    x
Of course these medioce writers would never do something like that , so an insta-fix it will probably be, unfortunately!

    ReplyDelete
  39. It really is amazing how some people's viewpoints are so skewed that they actually believe that the scene in Sacrifice where Sam tells Dean he would rather die than let him down again was an attempt to blame Dean for why he wanted to die. If anything, it showed just how little Sam thinks of himself. His opinion of himself is so low that only Dean's opinion of him matters. And if his brother thinks he's a colossal screw up and a liability, what's the point of living anymore? He thought the only way to make Dean proud of him was to sacrifice himself. That isn't blaming Dean, that's blaming himself to the point of being suicidal. Sam's own self-loathing had taken over so completely that he couldn't even see why Dean would care if he sacrificed himself for the third trial. How anyone could interpret that as him blaming Dean is mind-boggling.

  40. Well Sam's season 7 storyline was never supposed to be resolved with an instafix in the first place. The only reason it went that route was to fit Castiel back into the storyline. After Gamble wrote him out that season he wasn't supposed to return but the network forced her hand on the issue. And it wasn't just Sam's hallucination storyline that was dropped, either. Dean's alcoholism was supposed to have more focus on it, too. As soon as Castiel was brought back into the fold both storylines went *poof* as if they never even happened. It is what it is though. It was a weak season to begin with so I understand the reasoning behind bringing Castiel back but to do so at the expense of other storylines that could have been resolved in a more cohesive manner was just lame.
