ABC has trimmed Scandal‘s Season 3 episode order from 22 to 18, TVLine has learned.
The network gave no official explanation for the cutback, but it’s safe to say the decision was made in response to the real-life pregnancy of leading lady Kerry Washington. The actress’ spring due date would’ve made shooting those final four episodes next to impossible (and, according to sources, writing Olivia out of the show for an extended period of time was not an option.)

That makes sense and maybe there won't be any filler in the second half of the season then.
ReplyDeleteUm they don't have to write out Olivia lol They could of just had Kerry Washington film her scenes where she could be sitting on the couch with a pillow in front of or behind her office and give the illusion that her team is out of the office and she stayed behind to work on something. Or she could be at home working a different angle to the case as her team would work their own the office.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they thought about that and it wasn't plausible.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Or maybe she just doesn't wanna be under stress during those 4 episodes bc her character has cried alot been pissed off alot and stressed out lol
ReplyDeleteSomeone's going to have to write all those episodes too, and the other cast members will have to play their parts. It wouldn't be feasible
ReplyDelete28 episodes next season and I'll be happy :-)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this will affect Scandal's return date. If it comes back on Feb. 27 as scheduled, it will end its season April 17, a week before May sweeps begin. I'd think they'd want their biggest drama on during sweeps but who knows. Poor ABC.. I'm sure they would've rather had Emily Van Camp get pregnant and reduce the order of Revenge! Lol.
ReplyDeleteFirst reaction: WTF? Are they mental? This is just absurd!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading: ok, it makes sense. It only means either more concentrated twists and scandaliciousness, or more juicy stuff saved for next season.
I was shocked when I saw the title then I remembered she was pregnant and I'm like okay, that's why. They just can't hide her pregnancy considering she is the lead and she does a lot of walking shots and what not. Hoping for more episodes next year
ReplyDeleteAt least they will speed up the SL and drama! :)
ReplyDeleteI think they may push the return date to March to finish in May Sweeps. I'm sure ABC isnt that stupid lol
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning of the article I was like "Wtf???" Then I realized it makes perfect sense. Better less episodes with more happening than more episodes with less Olivia and more filler!
