———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS topped the Tuesday overnights despite airing all repeats with a 19 percent advantage over second-place NBC. But the home of “The Voice,” of course, will reign supreme among the key demographics. In the distant No. 3 spot was ABC, which was negatively impacted by a repeat of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” followed by Fox and improved The CW.
The encore of “NCIS” on CBS led the night, with an 8.3 rating/14 share in the overnights at 8 p.m. And it led into a second-place 6.5/11 for the repeat of spin-off “NCIS: Los Angeles” at 9 p.m., followed by the repeat of “Person of Interest” at a dominant 5.4/ 9 at 10 p.m.
Reliable “The Biggest Loser” on NBC finished second from 8-9 p.m. with a 4.6/ 8, which was five percent above the 4.4/ 7 one week earlier. Next was “The Voice” at a healthy 7.6/12 (#1) from 9-10 p.m., which built from the 8:30 p.m. portion of “The Biggest Loser” (4.7/ 8) by 62 percent. And “Chicago Fire” capped off the night with a second-place 5.4/ 9, which was its best overnight performance since Oct. 1.
In season-premiere news, “What Would You Do?” on ABC moved into its new Tuesday 10 p.m. time period with a distant third-place 2.5/ 4, which was 26 percent below year-ago occupant “Private Practice” (3.4/ 6 on 12/04/12). Earlier in the evening on ABC was the aforementioned repeat of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” at a third-place 2.5/ 4 at 8 p.m., followed by original installments of sitcoms “The Goldbergs” (#3: 3.4/ 5) and “Trophy Wife” (#3: 2.6/ 4) from 9-10 p.m. While a 3.4/ 5 is nothing to boast about, “The Goldbergs” did build by 55 percent from the 8:30 p.m. portion of the “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” repeat (2.2/ 4).
Elsewhere, Fox had nothing positive to say about its sitcom line-up of “Dads” (#4: 2.4/ 4), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#3: 2.5/ 4), a repeat of “New Girl” (#4: 1.4/ 2) and “The Mindy Project” (#4: 1.9/ 4). And The CW built year-to-year by an average of 33 percent with its pairing of “The Originals” (#5: 1.7/ 3) and veteran “Supernatural” (#5: 1.5/ 2). Consider “The Originals” a lock for a second season renewal.

The Originals is about to catch up with Mindy. I wonder if it will beat it in the demos
ReplyDeleteYay for Chicago Fire! :D
ReplyDeleteOuch @ the Mindy Project.
ReplyDeleteI think TO had the same HH rating last week and got a 1.1 same as SPN which had either a 1.4 or a 1.5 HH rating, but who knows. Its ratings and audience has been going up almost weekly. The show certainly has the potential to start pulling ahead of SPN and Arrow there is definitely a decent audience for it if you go by its DVR ratings which seem to be increasing with every episode of course that doesn't necessarily translate to live audience but its now only second to TVD in Live +3, Live +7, W18-33 and A18-34 demos. Its digital viewing is also very strong.
ReplyDeleteComparing HH ratings is pointless since their demo rating is on an equal level. The only difference is the number of people watching and that is mostly used for PR fluff and doesnt really determine anything. Most CBS dramas have a high HH ratings but they rarely translate in great demo ratings. Usually NCIS gets a 12.1 HH and that translates to a 3.0 demo point, NCIS LA with a 9.6 HH gets a 2.5 demo point and POI gets around a 7.6 and scores a 2.2. On other networks like NBC a 7.6 rating would translate to a 3.4-3.6 area. And even on ABC Scandal can get a 2.9-3.0 demo with a 6.9 HH rating. And following the 2 dramas on CBS that repeat the best (and even in repeats have one of the highest HH rating) it isnt hard to score a good rating.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm glad to see someone is up on their ratings.:)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen TO, but it does seem to be drawing a good viewing audience, so it must be a decent enough show.
If keeps up it up I can definitely see it pulling well ahead of the elder SPN. That's all good for SPN too as it's a great lead in.
I'm glad to see the CW is doing better since Pedowitz took over.
That and they're on 2 different networks with both very different standards.
ReplyDeleteI was just having fun nothing against CF i like that show too :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome CF...they deserve it!
ReplyDeleteYeah B99 !
ReplyDeleteOuch for ABC comedies.
ReplyDeletehope Goldbergs and TW keep dropping i want SFN renewed!
ReplyDeleteI wonder can The Other and/or SPN beat Trophy Wife this week?
ReplyDeleteI dont know if that will help SFN, my guess is Mixology will be the only new comedy on ABC renewed. TW, The Goldbergs, The Neighbours, SFN all cancelled. Modern Family, The Middle, Suburgatory, Mixology, Lat Man standing renewed.
ReplyDeleteYou are wishing other show drop in ratings just so your show can be renewed. Really?
ReplyDeleteSuper (not so) Fun Night didn't even get a full season pick up.
I really want ABC to move The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife to Wednesday at least once and see how they do. Does anybody think ABC will do that?
ReplyDeleteSPN 1.1/2.45
ReplyDeleteI think that's The Originals highest viewership to date?

I'm beginning to think there's nothing that can spike the ratings for Mindy. Holiday episodes, nope. Mindy and Danny will they won't they tension, nope. Social media hype, nope. Sure it aired after a repeat lead-in, but it should have at least "ticked up" to compensate (stayed at a 1.4)
ReplyDeleteI dont think either show can be helped now, its something they should have thought of at the beginning of the season not when we're approaching mid season and these shows are literally on deaths door. It looks to me like ABC are trying to burn through the episodes as quickly as possible.
ReplyDeleteI think it is. So glad for The Originals and Supernatural, they do very well together. I hope it will hold up in the spring!
ReplyDeleteHuh, SPN and TO are really well paired off.
ReplyDeleteSPN dropped quite a few viewers in the second half anyway I wonder can either of the CW shows tick up in the finals these week?
ReplyDeleteABC picked up TW despite the poor ratings, so maybe they have something in mind.
ReplyDeletegiven that everything else they've tried on Tuesday has failed for the past few season maybe they just didnt want to risk any more shows there? Whatever the reason both shows got full seasons so fans should enjoy
ReplyDeleteSPN always has a drop off in the 2nd half hour. I don't think last night's was even in the top 3 of the season.
ReplyDeleteDid SPN's viewers not drop down last week too in the 2nd half then it was touched up?
ReplyDeleteYeah, last week it dropped in viewers and demo in the second half hour but still adjusted up.
ReplyDeleteThank you.:) Yes, I thought so but i couldn't quite remember. It would be nice if it adjusted up this week too.
ReplyDeleteMixology will be airing in spring after alot of Modern Family repeats won't have as good a leadin as SFN so very possible SFN will end up averaging the highest ratings of freshman ABC comedies, personally i think the fact that it got a partial order and not full season was because ABC wanted mixology after Modern Family and changing alot of timeslot/ moving SFN after Goldbergs would need promotion etc. so it was easier to give TW a full season.
ReplyDeleteWow @ PoI, not too shabby for a repeat!
ReplyDeleteSupernatural and The Originals did really good, getting nearly the same amount of viewers and same ratings. Perfect match it seems.
ReplyDeleteChicago Fire has come a long ways. I remember being worried it might get cancelled last year and now it's gained viewers and I am not concerned anymore. Not often a show I watch gains viewers like that.
YAY Supernatural :D
ReplyDeleteBig laugh to the Originals and SPN getting almost the exact same rating, but only the Originals getting the Honorable mention. Oh, Mr. Berman..
ReplyDeleteI get it that you want your shows to succeed. But rooting for other shows like The Goldbergs to fail? Mr., I don't like you.
ReplyDeleteThe Goldbergs... :(
ReplyDeleteHoping that it is because this is a holiday season.
So Chicago Fire finally matches POI when POI is on repeat :)
