-Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean overnight household sweep for NBC, which will translate into a solid victory in all key demos. Two-hours of “The Voice” scored a 7.6 rating/12 share from 8-10 p.m., which was right on par from the year-ago evening. And that led into a 7.3/13 for bona fide freshman hit “The Blacklist” at 10 p.m., which rose to its best overnight rating since Oct. 14. Week-to-week, “The Blacklist” built by 11 percent (versus a 6.6/11 on Nov. 25). Keep in mind, of course, that “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC concluded its current edition last week.

Second-place CBS increased by nine-percent versus last week with its combination of “How I Met Your Mother” (#2: 5.5/ 9), “2 Broke Girls” (#2: 5.6/ 9), “Mike & Molly” (#2: 5.8/ 9), “Mom” (#2: 5.1/ 8) and “Hostages” (#3: 3.4/ 6). But the reality of the Eye net’s Monday line-up was year-to-year erosion of 21 percent (with “Hostages,” in particular, down by 46 percent from the 6.3/10 for “Hawaii Five-O” on 12/03/12). Coming up on CBS in the Monday 10 p.m. hour effective on January 13 is midseason drama “Intelligence” (which will preview out of “NCIS” at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 7th).

Over at ABC, annual animated holiday special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” finished third with a 4.3/ 7 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was 13 percent above the 3.8/ 7 for its year-ago telecast (on Tuesday 12/18/12) and the young adult demos are expected to be notably stronger than prior (and returning) time period occupant “Dancing With the Stars.” Next was two-hour special, “CMA Country Christmas” at a 4.6/ 8 from 9-11 p.m., which only fluctuated by two-tenths of a rating point in the four half-hours.

Elsewhere, week three of Fox drama “Almost Human” as the Monday 8 p.m. anchor scored a 4.2/ 7 (#4), which was five percent below one week earlier. And that 4.4/ 7 last week translated into 6.12 million viewers and a 1.9 rating/5 share among adults 18-49, based on the live plus same day data. Three week overnight track for “Almost Human”: 4.8/ 7 – 4.4/ 7 – 4.2/ 7). Next on Fox was an encore of “Sleepy Hollow” at a distant fourth-place 2.2/ 3 at 9 p.m.

The CW pre-empted its low-rated pairing of “Hart of Dixie” and “Beauty and the Beast” for a repeat of 2002 theatrical “It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie,” which scored a mere 0.8/ 1 from 8-10 p.m.

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
