Household
Rating/Share
NBC 7.2/12
CBS 4.7/ 8
Fox 2.8/ 4
ABC 2.5/ 4
CW 0.8/ 1

———-

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Monday 12/17/12:
Fox: +47, NBC: +20, ABC: -26, CBS and CW: -27 each

———-

-Winners:
“The Voice” (NBC)

-Honorable Mention:
“How I Met Your Mother” (CBS), “2 Broke Girls” (CBS), “Mike & Molly” (CBS), “The Sing-Off” (NBC)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
“The Great Christmas Light Fight” (ABC), “Hostages” (CBS)

———-

-Ratings Breakdown:
Two hours of “The Voice,” which concludes its fall edition tonight, led NBC to an easy Monday victory with an 8.4 rating/13 share in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that was right on par from the year-ago evening, and it led into a dominant 4.9/ 9 for “The Sing-Off” at 10 p.m. Yes, lead-in still matters.

CBS, which has not benefited while competing “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC is between seasons, was on par with recent levels (which translated into an overnight household loss of 27 percent year-to-year). “How I Met Your Mother” and “2 Broke Girls” each scored a 5.3/ 8 from 8-9 p.m., followed by “Mike & Molly” at a 5.8/ 9 at 9 p.m. and “Mom” at a 4.9/ 8 at 9:30 p.m. Each of the comedies finished a distant second behind “The Voice.” At 10 p.m. was “Hostages,” which is nearing its series-ender, at a second-place 3.6/ 6 at 10 p.m.

Elsewhere, recent Fox entry “Almost Human,” which is 50/50 on a second season, scored a typical 3.9/ 6 (#3) in the overnights at 8 p.m. In other words: could be better/could be worse. And it led to encores of animated holiday specials “Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas” (#4: 1.9/ 3) and “DreamWorks Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury” (#4: 1.6/ 3) from 9-10 p.m.

ABC aired repeats of animated “Disney’s Prep & Landing” (R#4: 2.6/ 4) and “Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice” (#4: 2.1/ 3) from 8-9 p.m. into another edition of two-hour holiday special “The Great Christmas Light Fight,” which scored an uneventful 2.6/ 4 in the overnights from 9-11 p.m. And The CW aired encores of animated holiday special “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” (#5: 0.8/ 1) and “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” (which debuted on CBS on Tuesday, Dec. 10 and also averaged a very last-place 0.8/ 1).

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

If you are new to ratings or still confused, we recommend you read this excellent Ratings FAQ.

  1. Hope Almost Human doesn't fall much. If it gets a 1.7, it's ok. If it is a 1.6 it's worriesome, and a 1.5 might indicate cancellation

  2. Anything above a 1.6 demo rating is pretty much the norm for Fox now. With half their line-up either free falling or failing in general Fox needs all the good news it can get at this point, maybe 24: Live Another Day next year will end their slump.

  4. I was expecting HIMYM to fall after the took a break last week. Mom and The Crazy Ones are neck and neck, if it comes to only one of them getting renewed, I'd prefer The Crazy Ones, although I like an watch both shows. Almost Human is in the mid 1s, as I expected.

  5. Baltimore NBC & Detroit ABC stations were preempted for NFL

  6. I was expecting this rating for Almost Human but still I am sad.. Also FOX's January schedule doesn't look good for AH (2 new episode on january then 2 week break then another new episode...) hope they'll do good & Fox renews this show

  7. Hostages is one of the season's best! It deserves better ratings! :/

  8. Glad both Mom and 2BG are doing great.

  9. Never watched The Crazy Ones so I'd save Mom:)
