I think they died on the beach and the last part was a dream/delusion of them 'crossing over', possibly Baxter's as he was last in line to be shot. Interestingly the Spanish on that recurring poster said 'road to nowhere'; funny little bit of foreshadowing.
I just think that the last part is Baxter realizing that it's always been useless to run away and that they and their poor choices were the real cause of their death.
What a waste of time over the years! I've been watching from day one hoping over and again that finally a season would give some sort of ENDING to the hours of TV I've watched or at least not make me think I've been wasting my time. So when the self proclaimed "Season finale" aired I thought FINALLY HERE IT IS! but once again nothing. They write in the script a draw of guns and a safe room and then it felt like they backed out of letting them use them to fight back, so frustrating. What a waste of all the acting talent and beautiful locations.
I think there are two options. Either they died on the beach, victims of their own bad decisions. Or maybe they didn't die physicallly, but rather a part of their souls died. It might be that they sold their souls for money when they sold the villa for riches. when Baxter saw himself in the other car he looked rich & powerful, the car also travelled onwards, like that part of Baxter was still living. What do you think? Also , what was the false eye in the toilet about?
Haven't been this disappointed since the Lost finale. What a waste of time, I suppose it is too much to ask for a conclusive conclusion in this day and age.
I'm disapointed with the ending. Because the writers knew the twists and turns doesn't mean the viewer will get it. I don't want to sit and ponder the show for 2 days before I get it. I want it to be spelt out for me. Putting the spanish billboards up didn't do it because we don't all speak spanish. Making the tiny Blair in the car looking back at Baxter just made me go "WTF?". I get that they died on the beach or even possibly before. But the plot after the first episode of the finale was poor, very poor.
Confused.....when they were at Baxter's daughter's wedding, they then flash back to 2 months before in South Africa - so if they died on the beach, how were they at the wedding in London, or have I missed something else?
After watching al the other series i felt the ending was poor! We'd all been on this journey with the only to see them killed by driving off a broken road!
I agree on the theory saying that they died on the beach and that it might be their travel trought death on this unfinished road. The fact that he sees himself on the other car seems to be for me ironic, he finaly sees/undestands who is actually responsible for what happened. The eye in the toilet belongs to the Tikoloshe, he got gouged out eyes. The whole thing could be Rick's hallucination from the beggining, he's the one raving since South Africa. There is also his akward reaction about not being an accountant, the man is freaking out. And all the pictures at the end of the episode, most of them are Rick's. What about his fight against his friends and the fact that he managed to imitate their signatures ? This is only my interpretation, I'm trying to understand if anyone wants to help.

you hit the nail on the head Julia I completely strongly agree with you I had the exact same thoughts came in my mind you stolen my first thoughts after the final episode. sky 1 used to broad cast some great unique awesome dramas such as lost. directors and authors create the plot so well and its a shambles endings. and mad dogs is the best drama I have seen since lost and its a real pity that sky 1 don't do many unique outstanding dramas as much as its the same old shows. I was about to say 4 years but they broadcast mad dogs a year after lost lets hope they do some more similar dramas like lost and mad dogs in a year or 2.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It was great but can anyone explain the ending?
ReplyDeleteI just dont get it..
