Easily one of the best, if not the best, episodes this season. And last season, now that I think about it. The Mother is so adorable and sweet and awesome and I just love her to death each time I see her. Perfect way to meet Marshall, just like the way she met Lily. Excellent touch with having Ted punch Darren and her buying him a drink in return. Just an excellent episode that far surpassed the majority of the largely mundane stuff they've been supplying all season...
I wholeheartedly agree, this is my favorite episode this season. The Mother is amazing, and her meeting with Marshall is easily my favorite so far. They really clicked in a special way. And I also love the karma thing with Ted and The Mother.
And Andrew Ranells did a great job as the "devil" character.
Completely agree. Hoping this is setting up great things for the next half of the show. And I love how easily you can see The Mother becoming best friends with Lily and Marshall. Like you said, she just really clicks with them so well already!
Amazing episode, Marshall and The Mother are so much a like loved their scenes. The Mother buying Ted the scotch was so sweet but what made the episode for me was Ted and Barney's scenes it's been a while since I really enjoyed their scenes it was nice to see. This was a great episode for the first half of the seasons end and I was really happy with it.
Loved Lily and Robin's scenes and seeing M/L back together that was great and the gang is whole again.
Holy crap! That was a truly awesome episode! It was hilarious! It made great use of running gags! It had the Mother! I loved it, the first and only episode this season that I've actually loved (and it pains me to say that it is the only one).
The Mother is great, and I loved seeing her with her driving gloves. So ridiculous. But she's pretty awesome. Love that she and Lily get along and are pretty similar... and pretty. She's making all kinds of rounds with helping Barney realize there was still hope with Robin to helping Marvin learn his words words.
I only wish we go to see the punch. And what a cliffhanger! The slap! Argh! That alone will keep me excited for the return next year.
Utterly awesome in my opinion. This deserves an A+++ The Mother has so much chemestry with the whole cast, the jokes landed perfectly, and the emotional beats were quite strong. Also, a lot of callbacks. This is just HIMYM perfection for me
This was a great episode, I loved every minute of it. I love how Mother is nice like Marshall, and drinks like Lily. Can't wait for her to meet Robin, that should be a good one.
Hahahha, who was the skunk junk that went on a downvoting spree?
Anyway, this episode was really cute and I just love how the mother keeps meeting everyone but Ted, and how she is just this good influence on everyone, but she still has her flaws, like being a pushover and lacking confidence.
One minor thing I didn't get: If the Mother stole the van in Farhampton as she was leaving, how did crossed with Marshal on the road, coming from behind him? Or was it because she was returning the van?
Best episode of the year hands down (and that's including the seconds half of season 8!). It almost manages to redeem for the mediocre string of episodes we just witnessed this fall!
I was so focused on watching/reading Mother's storyline and her phrases and all that I almost didn't laugh, lol. Gotta watch it again to catch on funny parts.
Loved the Barney + Ted storyline. Almost teared up.
I love the fact that she has traits from both Marshall and Lily, who are Ted's best and oldest friends. I especially loved seeing last night how similar to Marshall she is, because he is my all time favorite character on the show (and the Mother is my favorite character this season), so to see how they have the same kind nature was just more than I hoped for.
I really do hope that keep up with this pace. Before last night, I was just hoping for decent, midly entertaining episodes (if entertaining at all), but last night made me hope for more for the second half.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
One of the best episodes in years. The mother is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit I screamed "NOOOOO!!!!!" when it said "to be continued" right before Marshall slapped Barney! Why do we have to wait till January?????
ReplyDeleteBTW The Mother was so amazing in this episode!!!
That was a great episode! I love The Mother (we really need her name, though) and LOL at her screwing with Marshall like that.
ReplyDeleteLove that Marvin's first words were "skunk junk". Oops. Aw at The Mother buying Ted a drink. That was cute!
Glad everyone's back together now and can't wait until the show is back.

Yeah, I think she was returning the van.

AHH! what does Barney say at the end right before Marshall looks like hes going to slap him??? I couldn't understand him...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my favorite episode of the season, great moments with the main cast and of course adorable scenes with the mother.
ReplyDeleteHe says, "Oh God, it's the fourth slap! I don't why I was so obnoxious."
ReplyDeletei think they have done a great job in casting the mother and this episode really shows it.
