Have you been recommended Person of Interest? It might be something up your alley considering you liked Burn Notice and you watch some other Bad Robot shows.
Usually that is the same for me but I've mostly caught up with all the shows I wanted to watch but it is a good time for rewatches of shows I already love!
The hiatus rewatch is definitely a winter tradition for me too. I am marathoning all of Teen Wolf for sure to get ready for the midseason premiere. I'll also rewatch this season of Arrow for the podcast, the rest of season 2 of Grimm for an article, and probably Sleepy Hollow again for good measure. As for new shows, I am looking at trying out Alias and Hawaii 5-0 or maybe season 2 of Scandal.
Justified is high on my hiatus watch list. I've seen the first 3-4 episodes and enjoyed them but not as passionately as other people who got hooked on the show immediately. I look forward to getting hooked on it too. Sons of Anarchy and The Wire are both lower on my list because I am not sure they are for me. House, Breaking Bad, and Dexter are not my kind of shows because I need to like or admire or at least in some way find redeemable the main characters pretty quickly. Just from what I've heard online, I'm not sure Sons of Arachy or The Wire will have characters like that.
I faithfully watched the first episodes of PoI this season until it looked like Root was coming around for an extended stay. I find I like PoI a whole lot better when I can fast forward through her or in marathon to get her over with quicker. I will be caught up with the few episodes I've missed before Christmas. I agree that this show is usually awesome. I rarely miss it.
She is far too over the top, actually leaning towards cartoonish for a non-superhero show for me. I could see her as an Arrow villain to be honest. I prefer the Elias type antagonists myself.
I was planning on watching POI but after the 12/16/13 USA Today article I am tuning out for good. It was a low blow to Taraji P. Henson and the character of Carter. The comments from the POI executives and Michael Emerson were ridiculous. They don't mention Carter by name but everything said points to it.
Justified got really good in the 2nd season then just got better every season after so stick with it. I don't really pay attention to if I like the lead character or not there will be another character on the show that I'll like. I pay attention to how good the acting or writing is and Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad and Dexter always had either both or one of those.
I watched the Pilot but it felt a little heavy on the drama for my taste and didn't really try to watch it again, tell about it why would you recommend it for watching? I see people always saying great things about the show so maybe I misjudged it.
It depends what you like - not everyone likes the same types of shows. I love it because of its genre, it's great quality to me. It's considered a procedural, but I don't notice it much, it has a lot of myth-arc stuff to me (quality time about the bad guy(s) of the season, and problems the main characters run into. Some spy stuff, mobs, mysterious bad guys, etc. Lots of action along with some story lines for the characters that really flesh out how they came to this point in time. It doesn't ever bore me, 95% of the number of the week episodes didn't feel like a simple procedural episode, There are layers upon layers on this show. And I like the friendship that is there and since season 2 the dog. lol
The friendship, action, and characters are what got me into the show at the start. That's what first caught my interest.
I will definitely put Justified on the must watch list for either winter or summer hiatus. I will say that its social media presence is very personal. I once tweeted that i was going to watch a Justified episode and one of teh writers tweeted back to thank me. That's never happened before.
I did a TBBT marathon not too long ago with my dad, since he is really getting into that show now. The first couple of episodes remain some of the most quotable dialogue in a comedy.
Thanks for pointing out the article. I may drop PoI also but probably for different reasons. I am not at all interested in the character of Root so if she is indeed going to have an even bigger role to play than already, then I need not take the time.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Awkward - Season finale :D

ReplyDeleteAh, none of my Tuesday shows are on tonight. I guess I will start that PoI marathon and hold the NCIS's for a summer marathon.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, but this is the time that people usually recommend new shows to me and I invariably find at least one hidden gem.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest!

ReplyDeleteBoth Sons of Anarchy and Justified are worth watching if you haven't been recommended those yet
ReplyDeleteNCIS LA, you haven't abandoned me to the hiatus yet. I'm running out of things to watch!
ReplyDeleteUsually that is the same for me but I've mostly caught up with all the shows I wanted to watch but it is a good time for rewatches of shows I already love!

ReplyDeleteAh, I'm not a fan of Root myself, but many people sure seem to be. Nice to hear I'm not the only one.

ReplyDeleteNCIS :)
ReplyDeleteI was told Supernatural is running a rerun. I'll watch that if so.

ReplyDeleteI'm having a TBBT Marathon. I usually rewatch my favorite shows' current seasons or have a marathon or catch up on movies.
