Universal and the team behind Fast & Furious 7 are facing a delay in production following the tragic death of actor Paul Walker, but sources say the movie will not be abandoned entirely.
Walker, along with the rest of the cast and crew of Fast 7, had been scheduled to return to Atlanta on Sunday to resume shooting the big-budget film, which features extensive car racing. Those plans are on hold until Monday or Tuesday at the earliest.
Director James Wan and Universal executives held a conference call Sunday morning to discuss the state of the film, whether rewrites would be necessary and how to proceed in a manner that would be respectful to Walker's death. Walker, 40, was a favorite on the set of the Fast movies, and his death has left his fellow stars, including Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, and the crew devastated.

ReplyDeleteKinda had a long night of drinking, when sitting with a friend at the bus stop (utterly wasted) I checked by phone and opened tvline and saw the news of Walkers death. I seriously felt completely devestated and I couldn't stop thinking about how any person that young would have lived the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteHe was one of those underappreciated actors, good in what they did but sadly never got enough roles to prove their talent. I'm the last one to call F&F a brainless action series because they actually had some pretty good plots in the past but it never gave him enough material to work with
I hope they don't cut him from the movie now and intigrate his death into the story to give his character a proper conclusion
I couldn't stop thinking about Paul Walker today after hearing the news last night. Still feels unreal. I'm so sad. He seemed like a great guy, and I loved him as an actor. One of my top favorite actors.
ReplyDeleteI hope whatever the film makers do they do NOT kill off his character Brian in the movie. That just would make everything even worse. If Paul can't live on at least let Brian live on in fiction.
The Fast and Furious movies may have had some really unrealistic action scenes but I loved it for the family and friendship stuff. Brian and Dominic are my favorite characters. And of course, I love the cars. I missed Dom's old Dodge in the last movie.
ReplyDeleteAs one of the protagonists, I hope they give his character arc the conclusion it deserves and not just write him off. Brian O'Conner is Paul's best known character, he needs a proper send-off.
ReplyDeleteI was extremely saddened by the news of his death, not only because I enjoy his work and the Fast and Furious franchise, but also because he was apparently a wonderful person. With all my heart I hope he did not suffer in that awful accident. RIP.
As tragic as it was I found some comfort in knowing that this was one celeb death that didn't involve drugs or alcohol (as far as I know it wasn't related to the the cause of the crash). So sad but I'm glad there going to finish the movie.

ReplyDeleteThis. I'm hoping they don't kill Brian off, but instead have him retire with Mia and the baby. It's bad enough that Paul died (and I'm crushed), just please don't kill off Brian as well. Let him have a happy (even if off screen) ending.
ReplyDeletedont sound so ignorant. she meant he died of an accident, an not because of any downward spiral addicted to drugs/alcohol. it was a natural accident.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit if they kill off Brian in the movie, I may bawl in the theater. It would be really rough, especially seeing the fictional characters react to Brian's death. I've already broken down this weekend, especially seeing a picture of Tyrese at the crash site. :(
ReplyDeleteOh God, I didn't see that picture, I'm sorta glad I didn't. It was bad enough hearing everyone's reactions (especially what Tyrese wrote). I was surprised how hard his death hit me, since I've never been a huge fan of his, despite loving the F&F franchise- but he was such an incredible humanitarian and it's just such a tragic waste. Sorry, I'm still a bit emotional myself, don't want to upset you further as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay, I'm kind of all cried out. I actually don't cry a lot on my own when someone dies. Most of the time I can keep it together. In less I see another sad picture or twitter message from one of the actors, I won't cry anymore. Until maybe the movie.
