Disney Channel is adding even more oomph to its push to turn Dove Cameron into a signature star for the Mouse House. She’s been cast as the lead in its “Descendants” telepic revolving around the offspring of iconic Disney villains.
Cameron will play Mal, daughter of Maleficent, the evil witch from 1959′s “Sleeping Beauty.” She’s the ringleader of a group of teenage kids of famed Disney villains who wind up tangling with the good-hearted son of the King and Queen from “Beauty and the Beast,” among others.

Australian actor and newcomer Mitchell Hope has joined the cast as Ben, the benevolent teenage son of the King (Beast) and Queen (Belle). Descendants marks Hope's first U.S. project.
Said Judy Taylor, Disney Channel's senior vp casting and talent: "We were intrigued by Mitchell's natural acting style, boyish charm and winning personality, and when we brought him to Los Angeles to read opposite Dove [Cameron], it was apparent that he embodied the inherent good nature of 'Ben' and the sense of fairness that the character represents."

this sounds insteresting i had no idea they were doing a movie like this one!
ReplyDeleteI've only ever seen Dove in that one episode of The Mentalist, but I really liked her in that role. I'm more interested in seeing this film now.
