March ?? Omg
ReplyDeleteAre you fucking kidding me right now, CBS? That's too early!
ReplyDeletekinda prefer this if it means that there won't be any long breaks between episodes
ReplyDeleteThat's an early ending date but it does make sense that if they were to end one series earlier it was the one that is not coming back instead of giving one of the returnees a huge hiatus. I am not sure about how I feel about Friends with Better Lives schedule though. I think it would be perfect to follow How I Met Your Mother permanently, not just once. I don't know what type of lead-in 2 Broke Girls will be able to provide by then, I think it will be in the high 1s. I was hoping Friends had gotten The Millers slot instead. Too bad. I assume Bad Teacher is summer burn-off then since there was no announcement about it?
ReplyDeleteI had never seen someone complaining that we get the episodes earlier. What is the problem exactly? You get the same number of episodes and you wait less time to get them..
ReplyDeleteI like this, fewer breaks.
ReplyDeleteThat's fast but I'm actually glad cause it means less breaks ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, less breaks is a good thing and it's time for the show to end, but I figured we had to until May, when series finales usually air. Even the rumored end of April date was better than this.
ReplyDeleteI love the show - I've watched it for nine years - and it's going to be really hard to say goodbye.
Maybe Bad Teacher will air after The Big Bang Theory in March/April just like Rob 2 years ago
ReplyDeleteIt's too soon I'm not ready for this soon date.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this to be over, the last two seasons weren't really enjoyable to say the least.
ReplyDeleteConsidering you are getting the exact same number of episodes, you are supposed, at the very least, not to care. Besides, if you care about when the episodes air so much, you can save them and watch them later in dates of your choice.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it can air in January, since it's past mid December and there have been no promos whatsoever. Because of the Olympics, February is also not an option. By default, the earliest it could air would be March. But I think they would have just announced it together. I think it will air summer after TBBT repeats unless TCO completely tanks in the winter in which case they could bring it to Thursdays before.
ReplyDeleteI think CBS is more likely to move TCO off Thursday. I think they might protect The Millers and Bad Teacher more then TCO, since they own (The Millers) and co-own (Bad Teacher). There was a report that Les Moonves wants to make the CBS comedies a success and bring them to the syndication money. It was stated he is annoyed by WBs success. And Rob was a CBS production so its not surprising they put it after Big Bang Theory.
ReplyDeleteThe show is a shell of its former self, yet I'll still miss it because it does have some good still in it (the Mother, the previous episode, NPH). I am kind of excited though that it's ending early because it means we get it all sooner rather than having to wait through annoying breaks.
ReplyDeleteKind of excited about this actually. March 31st is a bit unconventional date to end a longrunning show, but at least we'll get a good built up momentum for the finale!
ReplyDeleteI am not aware of that report but that does make a lot of sense and that is why I have been saying that the lowest rated comedy hour needs to have a significant rating advantage over the lowest rated drama hour for CBS to stick with the comedies, or else they are better of sticking with the dramas because they get syndication money from most of those.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the evidence doesn't suggest that to be the case. Even your example, Rob, is of a cancelled show which CBS could have justified renewing if they wanted to. Also, this year, so far all signs point towards Bad Teacher being a summer burn-off (I could be wrong on this one though). Obviously, We Are Men was also pulled. I think that might be a long term goal and I wouldn't be surprised to see them green-lighting more and more CBS owned comedies, but for the time being, I don't think they will treat them differently just yet (unlike what ABC does).
Regardless, as much as I love The Crazy Ones, I do think it's the most likely cancellation at this point, but that's saying very little since Spring ratings will be the only ones that matter and they could change a lot. I also have a had time seeing The Millers surviving because it will certainly need to be moved and I am not sure they can genuinely expect anything out of it if moved, so why bother.
and this is exactly why I appreciate the date.
ReplyDeleteSo no retrospective?
ReplyDeletePlease don't call FWBL "Friends".
ReplyDeleteI was thinking it was down the line between Mom and The Crazy Ones and I'm not sure which show id miss more
ReplyDeleteThe shows first 8 seasons is basically a retrospective/prologue to what the show should have been about which is finally being addressed in this final season
ReplyDeleteI'd miss TCO more.
ReplyDeleteI think it all comes down to if Two and a half men will end or not. I dont think they will cancel/finish 2 Chuck Lorres comedies. So if Two and a half men is ending i see it as keeping Mom. TCO is in the worst position i think since its the only single camera comedy on CBS, and i dont think they know where to place it.
ReplyDeleteThe April airdate wasn't rumored, CBS decided to move the finale up:
