Homeland - Season 4 - Morena Bacarin and Morgan Saylor not returning as Regulars

14 Dec 2013

On the eve of the Showtime hit’s Season 3 finale, TVLine has learned exclusively that original castmembers Morena Bacarin and Morgan Saylor will not be back as series regulars in Season 4.

According to sources, the door is open for both actresses to return on a guest-star basis, the same way ex-full-timer Diego Klattenhoff (Mike) did this season.

  1. No surprise here. They feel sort of tagged on to the eps they already appear in.

  2. While interesting in its own right, their sub plot didn't really fit into Homeland. When I watch Homeland I wanna see CIA operatives doing sneaky stuff and politicians doing sneaky political stuff. While I appreciate the toll Brody's actions have taken on his family, I think that ship has sailed. For them to practically waste 3 or so episodes on Dana's arc was a mistake in my opinion. But it is what it is. I do hope both actresses find something quickly. I really like both their work.

  3. I like the "Himeland" new name.. is like a spinoff about virgin CIA agents, right?

Babar, you shouldn't have given such a title to the thread, it's visible from the start page and it's too spoilery to put in a headline, imo. It's not important if one could assume that based on season 3 or where episode 11 ends, but if you could have written "[spoiler] and [spoiler]" not returning as regulars", it'd be better, imo.

Because there are mild spoiler and there are SPOILERS (which, in a show with life-and-death situations like Homeland, can be pretty huge), so just by going on SpoilerTV's main page, without clicking on anything, I found out things I did not want to know.

  5. They aren't being killed off, it says in the post that they can appear as guest starts.

  6. The have just been demoted to guest stars. If they were being killed, I definitely would have used the title you suggested

  7. I think it's just too mild of a spoiler, when it's a big one, then they get concealed. It just would be the impression of being more than it is, and historically, cast changes of this sort are always stated up front in the site.

  8. At least there will be no more pointless Brody family plots to watch. It's better have them on screen when they have a contribution to make to the show.

  9. It kind of let's me no Brody's fate

  10. What about Jackson Pace?

  11. Hardly surprising given what happens to Brody about half way through the finale, it leaked online. S4 should be a fresh start

  12. But in a shock twist, Chris Brody will be returning? Maybe Al-Qaeda recruit him, or he's the CIA mole?!!!

......Or he's just forgotten about as usual, I feel sorry for Jackson Pace tbh. It would be hilarious if he actually was a regular next season though!

  13. It's just horrible that Chris Brody isn't mentioned in the article. :p He's still credited as a regular in the opening credits.

  14. That's as good as confirming that Bordy dies in the finale...

  15. I totally agree. Given how little they've featured recently, I wonder why the hell the Dana arc even happened. It makes me think maybe something changed behind the scenes and it was cut short because I really thought they were setting up something with her crazy boyfriend - to see her just run away and never see him again seems a bit odd. There were some things about the family mentioned in the episode press releases that never happened too, so maybe stuff was cut or not filmed due to Morena's pregnancy.

I like Morgan Saylor, but the real tragedy in my opinion was how little Morena Baccarin was featured - they could have done something really interesting with her character in the wake of Brody's disappearance - maybe Jess could even have been the one to attempt suicide? I'm not entirely keen on how Dana became the main character in the Brody household.

  16. I just seen the season finally, ;(

  17. Given that the last we see of Brody is him dangling by the neck from an execution crane this isn't surprising.

  18. I really liked Dana but without Brody there's no point.
