NBC’S CRITICALLY BELOVED ‘Hannibal’ TO RETURN FOR SECOND SEASON FRIDAY, FEB. 28 AT 10 P.M.

Intense Match of Wits Between Dr. Hannibal, Will Graham Continues With 13 New Episodes

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Dec. 19, 2013 — NBC has announced it will premiere the 13-episode second season of the critically acclaimed drama “Hannibal” at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) Friday, Feb. 28 following “Grimm” after the previously-announced conclusion of the 10-episode run of “Dracula.”

From creator Bryan Fuller, “Hannibal” stars Mads Mikkelsen as brilliant psychiatrist Dr. HANNIBAL Lector, who is working with the FBI and gifted criminal profiler Will Graham, played by Hugh Dancy, to look into the mind of serial killers. Based on Thomas Harris’ best-selling novels, this series is the prequel to the story that began with the feature films “Red Dragon” and “Silence of the Lambs.”

The series also stars Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford, the head of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit. Caroline Dhavernas and Hettienne Park also co-star.

“Bryan and his team are running on all creative cylinders once again and have delivered episodes full of intrigue, scares and surprises,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “The show continues to astound us with its incredible aesthetic beauty and its amazingly talented cast.”

  1. I am actually happy about the time-slot and to get the show back (coincidentally, I just finished watching the first season today). But where will Crossbones land? I was also looking forward to that one.

  3. Yes to a late February premiere date and to a Friday night slot! -It's too bad it's when Helix is on, but I will support Hannibal first.

  5. Fair question! I have to say that for me Will is still the show. I have no problem with Hannibal or anything and I find him a compelling character, also brilliantly acted. It's just that Will is simply one of the best characters I've seen in any show, for me he is the main draw. I cannot wait to see how their dynamics shift this year after the way the finale ended. If there was one thing that grew on me though, it was the show itself. I liked it better as the season progressed and as they introduced the Ripper storyline and it became more cohesive (I felt the first 3 episodes were a bit disconnected).

  6. That's cool (I'm on the other side of pound! Not to say I don't like Will, Dancy plays him well and they have a GREAT dynamic) Mikkelsen is just how I imagined Hannibal from reading the novels, as Hopkins portrayal is sometimes played him to obviously disturbed at times)

The Chesapeake Ripper was something that was only mildly explored/referenced in "Red Dragon" so I loved how Fuller has been able to flesh this out and preserve all of Harris' themes and motifs, and how he keeps making parallels to things in the novels/films! I've always been fascinated with the Hannibal character...

One of my favorite characters from "Hannibal Rising" is reoccurring character this season and I am SUPER excited to see how they use her here and what they will keep in terms of back story from HR's story...I also we touch more on Will's father too!!

  8. All is fair in love and entertainment!

Ha! I did the same thing you did with Dancy, but with Mikkelsen, as I wasn't familiar with him prior to these series either!

  9. Yessssss! I've wanted it paired up with Grimm on Fridays since last season. And it's only 2 months away! But what does this mean about Crossbones? When will that air?

  10. Make sure you check out Mikkelsens new film The Hunt (Jagten), which has been nominated for a Golden Globe. Like always Mads plays his part perfectly.
