Fox is taking back some of Dads‘ full-season pickup like it’s a bad Father’s Day gift.
The network has reduced the freshman sitcom’s pickup from nine episodes to six. Last month Fox announced that Dads would run through Feb. 11 and then depart the schedule to make room for other shows. The cut helps the comedy exit the stage as planned. (Dads‘ total 19 episodes is still arguably a “full season” … it’s just less full than sitcoms typically are and less what Dads was previously announced to receive; fellow freshman Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for example, is getting a full 22).
Once again, Fox is not using the c-word with Dads, though is also not saying if/when Dads will return. The network is instead contextualizing that the decision as entirely based on scheduling — Fox is shifting Glee to Tuesdays at 8 p.m. starting Feb. 25. as part of a rather complex rejiggering of its scheduled.
