Matt Smith for me, probably because he is the doctor I really started with. I had watched some Eccleston and some Tennant episodes before I became a fan, but it was during Smith's run that I really started to watch it.
I used to be a fan, but as time went by... My all time fave was Tom Baker. I did watch Tennant and although he is a good actor its a bit mixed reaction from me on this particurlar kind of show. I have heard Matt Smith and everyone raves about him, so thats great. Overall Doctor Who is such a diiverse and rather outstanding show :)
I'm dividing it between Clasic and NuWho. Of the classic Doctors then as someone born in the early 80s Sylvester McCoy is my Doctor though I always have love for Tom Baker. For NuWho then Christopher Ecclestone is my favourite, I'm still sad he only got 1 season.
So before anyone calls me a NuWho kid: I've seen plenty of older DW episodes and enjoyed some as much as I disliked some. That being said it has to be Tennant. Ecclestone is who truly sold me on DW while my dad failed at that with forcing me to watch all these VHS tapes he had, Tennant tough totally managed to reel me in. He was likable, quirky (but not too quirky, unlike Smith, who is at time annoyingly quirky) but also brought the human factor with him.
Smith and Ecclestone are fun, Tennant clearly embraced the role
Christopher Eccleston (there's no third E in his last name) was the first Doctor I ever watched. This was before I got BBC America and it was shown on PBS, probably back when the revival came out in 2005. He introduced me to Doctor Who, so, he's my favorite.
Well, I'm older than many on here and I have always preferred the earlier Doctors. Peter Davison is and always will be my favorite Doctor. Following him are John Pertwee and Sylvester McCoy.
I am not very familiar with the Doctors from Classic Doctor Who to choose any of them but for me it's easily David Tennant, even though i liked all three of the new Doctors...
Actually I am a fan and I have been watching Doctor Who since Tom Baker! I just thought it would let people know what the poll was rather than just having the heading who was your favourite doctor, as this could confuse some people into thinking it was about a medical show. I never realised how nit picking some people are on this site. It's only the heading on a poll, do some people just take delight in showing how they know so much more than other people!
Picking up a Doctor is like choosing between mommy or daddy. Anyway you choose, it is wrong. But if I had to pick, I'd say Smith (My doctor) and Tom Baker (my classic doctor) Both are well above everyone in their time in their performances (Smith vs Tennant will b a duel for ages)
I only saw the episodes since 2005, so I was only introduced to 3 actors playing him. But out of them during his last few episodes David Tennant has won me over the most with his dramatic portrayal.
Tom Baker for the original show, and David Tennant for the new one :) And it's Doctor, not Doctor Who, I don't know what you watched, but every time he presents himself, it's as The Doctor... It's the characters who ask "Doctor, who ?", so his name is The Doctor :)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
A tie between Matt smith and David tennant.
