I would like for her to have a happy ending but it depends on what the show does with Regina once they get off Neverland.

ReplyDeleteidk tbh she was so much fun when she was evil without that forced sloppy story they gave her. I'd like her to be evil and then sacrifice herself.. and maybe happy ending too? lol it depends how long they will continue with the story. at this point I don't see her worthy of happy ending.
ReplyDeleteI want a redemption. I don't particularly care if involves her dying or living happily ever after as long as she is in a good place with herself. She is my favorite character from the show and I am glad this year the writing for her is better. Last year, they had zero clue how to write her, it was painful to watch.

ReplyDeleteThat's a good question and to be honest I don't really know what I want.I would like her to redeem herself at some point,but I'm not in a hurry for that to happen.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion(or rather theory) is that either Regina or Rumple will die,but IF that happens it'll be in the series finale.
The "doesn't matter to me as long as it's well-written" option is a joke, right?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think it's not about what should happen, but what will. She'll get her happy ending, period. Now that they introduced Robin Hood and made him her true love, I simply can't see them taking it away and letting her go evil again.
What about it gives you the impression that it's a joke?

True this. Some people don't care about the destination but the path you have to travel. If the path is beautiful, then the destination doesn't matter.. IMO
ReplyDeleteI want redemption for Regina too. I was between choosing one of the first two choices, but ultimately chose the " well-written, believable" one, because that's my biggest concern with how Once writers tell any story.

ReplyDeleteThey screwed up the timelines so badly it's impossible to build a coherent chain of events (especially when it comes to Regina and Snow back in the Enchanted Forest), but, most importantly, I don't see them having a well thought goal in mind, a place where they're taking the show, they're just making things up as they go along. That's not a problem in and of itself, a lot of shows are made this way, but, IMO, in OUAT's case, it has severely damaged the story to the point where talking about "well-written" stuff is kind of hilarious.
I'm all for doing whatever you want to do as long as it makes sense, in true George Martin fashion (kill the entire cast, it's fine, so long as you give me a good story), I just don't think that's possible for this particular show, not according to my concept of "well-written".
Well, Once Upon A Time is not exactly the best show in terms of writing (there are quite a few plot holes & continuity issues; storylines are started and dropped soon after; character development is ignored or the characters' behaviour & motivations are too inconsistent with their nature & past actions; certain tropes & storytelling devices are overused giving the impression that the show is going in circles/being too repetitive etc.). I'm assuming that's what @inhighheels meant.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree, she is my favorite as well. I'm torn between living happily ever after or sacrificing for the greater good for her redemption. Either one will be okay, but I sort of like the idea of her dying to sacrifice herself as her redemption.
ReplyDeleteWell, I won't argue with you there. But this is simply a poll about what people think SHOULD happen, and this option is for those who don't care how Regina's story ends as long as it's well-done (as opposed to feeling that it's supposed to end a specific way). It doesn't mean they're confident that OUaT's writers *will*, in fact, do a great job of giving her an appropriate ending.

ReplyDeleteThe thing her dying is that they kind of had that last year already in the season finale in which she was willing to sacrifice herself to save everyone. It's sort of done. But if well done, I would get on board with it.
ReplyDeleteWell when she meets Robin Hood and realizes who he is, well fate will intervene. AND remember Robin Hood's wife passed away. He has a son who is in need of a mommy.....

ReplyDeleteSure, Alex, I'm not questioning the poll. In fact, I love it. Regina is my sole reason for watching OUAT. I was just pointing out that perhaps hoping for a well-written finale for her is too optimistic.

ReplyDeleteWe already saw her attempt in s2, and obviously no amount of selfless heroic acts can ever redeem her in the eyes of the Charmings (as for Henry - does it matter if he thinks she's redeemed herself at any one point in time when he could change his mind the next minute?).
The truth is, she's done horrible things that she cannot take back. And the reason why she's done those horrible things is that horrible things have been done to her in turn, and those cannot be reversed either.
So what I'd like to see for her in the future, is for her to be loved unconditionally again, in order to become a better version of herself. It was the unconditional love of baby!Henry that transformed "The Evil Queen" into the sleeping dragon that was Mayor Mills. When she was denied that love (in ss 1&2), she turned to "evil". Therefore only unconditional love and acceptance of the person she is (the bad and the good within her) can transform her and make her worthy of redemption.
But I'd be mighty pissed if they postpone her happiness until the very last episode. :(
What should happen in the last episode, is Regina and Robin (assuming Regina/Robin is endgame) and their other children attending Henry's wedding. :D
Redemption sounds good, but sacrifice would be both poignant and satisfying... hmmm, I think it will depend on how the writers could manage each scenario, I always like to take my endings rather bittersweet, but it all depends on how it is handled

ReplyDeleteI'm bored of "Good always wins". She chooses the path of evil and defeats the "good ones" (the Charming and all). But for the love of Henry she accepts to define a shared custody with Emma. Yup. Perfect ending.
ReplyDeleteI think the writers should make a choice between their names. Sometimes they use Mary Margaret and sometimes Snow(white). They should use their fairytale names like Snow, Red, Rumple, Charming... I like those a lot more.

ReplyDeleteWe've already seen Regina try for redemption and even "sacrifice herself in a heroic act to help the others/make amends for her sins".
ReplyDeleteTo me, Regina's happy ending, which I believe in, is the ultimate message of hope this show could ever manage to achieve - if after being completely broken and darkened, she can get back up, face her demons, and eventually find happiness, then there is hope for us all. I actually feel so strongly and am so emotional about this that anything else would be a major disappointment to me at this point.

ReplyDeleteIf I'm honest, Regina redeeming herself sounds good for me. But if the other characters could easily forgive her after what she has done and like invite her into dinner, then I would be bummed. It's not so logical. She hasn't done one bad thing in the past but lots of these things. Don't get me wrong, I love her. But I think Regina sacrificing herself in a heroic way, seems fitting to her story IMHO.

ReplyDeleteShe finds balance between the good and evil. Living to be a happy, mentally healthy person. Falling in love and having another child. Preferably with Emma imo but so long as she is in love and happy it matters not who it is really.

ReplyDeleteDo not you think it's much " and they lived happily ever after" ? As for me the best for her the completion would sacrifice life for someone at the same time becoming good.
