Voted for Supernatural, but think X-files should be on the list. It had a lot of really good horror-ish episodes and even the sci fi type plot was pretty scary at times.
Supernatural was when it was still a horror show. It hasn't been that in a long time. I also adore Buffy and Teen Wolf, but I don't consider either of them as horror. They are more dramas with supernatural elements. From this list AHS is the most like horror. Way back in the day I also loved Friday the 13th, the TV show. It gets my other vote.
I don't think the list are really horror, they are more like Sci- fi to me, what used to scare me was tales from the crypt, with the tales they had spooked me!!!
Half of those fall more into sc-fi/fantasy/adventure/drama than horror. Buffy, for example. And Supernatural hasn't been horror for about 5 seasons now.
My vote goes to Hannibal and The Walking Dead. I would have put Angel, but I don't think that's technically horror.
It's really hard for me to see Twin Peaks as specifically horror, but to be fair it belonged to more or less every genre, including its own. In any case, I went with Twin Peaks and American Horror Story. I did consider Dexter, but I've always seen it as more satire, humor, shock, and commentary.
Voting numbers really have me wish at some point there will be a resurgence of popularity and awareness for Twin Peaks. It's core base is still very ardently attached to it, and there are a fair number of people who have become aware of it in years after its cancellation, but I think a good percentage of the newer generations have missed it. But then again I wasn't alive when it was airing and I found it, so maybe they will too.
Supernatural is my favourite of all time. Second option I don't really have one, but I tossed it up between The Walking Dead and True Blood. In my eyes they are not better than the other, but I went with True Blood. I'm not a fan of vampires but I'm not always a fan of zombies either.
the one I want is not up there it was Friday the 13th the series that was my fav it only lasted 3 season but it was a awesome and does anyone know why the show got can after 3 seasons? Because a group of God freaks tried to pull the show off the air because of that the evil stuff that's was on the show HMMM! where are they now to take down a show like that who is now on season 9 where is that group now? But if wasn't for that show we would not have all the great horror shows we do have now like Buffy and if it wasn't for Buffy we would not have shows like SPN so I give a lot to the shows that come before if it wasn't for them we would not have theses greats shows now.
I have them on DVD I got them of a nightmare on elm street website that them and I got it there cost me 60$ but it was so worth it and it was wild to see trickster in 2 Eps in season 2 you should find it on youtube and then be of Eps of SPN was like cool that's the same guy WOW its really funny.
yep he was! to find the website to get freddy"s nightmare is go to A nightmare on elm street films.com I got them there and amazon has the Friday dvd you can get them in a 3 pack.

ReplyDeleteAHS and first three seasons of Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteLooks like survey's author and I don't share the same definition of horror series.
ReplyDeleteVoted for Supernatural, but think X-files should be on the list. It had a lot of really good horror-ish episodes and even the sci fi type plot was pretty scary at times.
ReplyDeleteJust two?
ReplyDeleteI had to go with Twin Peaks (happy to see it getting as many votes as it has) and SPN, even if SPN hasn't really been horror since season 2 ended.
Third would have been Buffy, even if that was never horror.
Buffy and American Horror Story.
ReplyDeleteAgree about X-Files.
ReplyDeleteThe ones I enjoy the most are SPN and Teen Wolf.
ReplyDeleteI thought supernatural was a comedy series;-)
ReplyDeleteSupernatural and American Horror Story, followed by Hannibal and Hemlock Grove :)
ReplyDeleteFor me Dexter.
ReplyDeleteAs for Hemlock Grove, I was loving it but by the end I was like, WTF am I watching? I'll check it out further but where it left things, I'm lost...
Buffy and Twin Peaks...

ReplyDeleteGood point. I remember watching X-Files with the lights on several times in its early seasons.
ReplyDeleteA lot of these shows aren't really from the horror genre... And what about Tales from the Crypt and Masters of Horror? :/
ReplyDeleteTwin Peaks of course!!
ReplyDeleteHannibal got my second vote.
Buffy and Supernatural, no question.
ReplyDeleteTrue Blood, American Horror Story, Hannibal, Twin Peaks and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

ReplyDeleteSupernatural offers everything, so I didn't need any other vote

ReplyDeleteSupernatural and other: X Files, best shows ever!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI voted it too, I miss X Files on the list
ReplyDeleteAmerican Horror Story
ReplyDeleteTwin Peaks
Too many choices! So many are (or were) excellent series.
ReplyDeleteTWD and AHS
ReplyDeleteA few years ago, I would have voted for Supernatural though I've never really considered it a horror show.
I LOVED that show! It was a great little horror series!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever watch Freddy's Nightmares?
Haha re: Supernatural. I don't think it was ever strict horror, but it was my favorite series at one time!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't consider much of these horror, but rather supernatural or suspense/mystery type shows. But I'll play by this definition.
ReplyDeleteOn the list: Supernatural, Being Human (US), The Walking Dead, Hannibal, and Vampire Diaries.
Off the list: If Vampire Dairies is a horror, then I can vote for The Originals here. And Grimm.
ReplyDeleteMany of these aren't horror. My favorite are AHS, Bates Motel and Hannibal.
ReplyDeleteThe Trickster was on Freddy's Nightmares?!?! I would LOVE to own those dvds plus Friday the 13th!
ReplyDeleteyep he was! to find the website to get freddy"s nightmare is go to A nightmare on elm street films.com I got them there and amazon has the Friday dvd you can get them in a 3 pack.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the walking dead and dexter as they are my favorite shows from the list but I don't think Dexter is a horror series at all.
