i remember there was another poll that i did that was similar to this.
there's plenty of great shows that are not from the u.s. that I enjoy- continuum (canada) being erica (canada) packed to the rafters (australia) wonderland (australia) cracked (canada) life on mars/ashes to ashes (u.k.) sherlock (u.k.) rookie blue (canada)
If this is about shows that are filmed in Canada then Supernatural would be my first pick and love Cracked, Continuum, Sherlock. Was enjoying Saving Hope and now it is not shown in USA. Being Human was fantastic until the leads left, then went downhill FAST.
I have a soft spot for most things Canadian, I'm always drawn in by their shows and tend to be hooked from day 1. Some of my favorite shows are lead by Canadian Actors too (I don't know what that says about me, maybe I should live there.)
I live in the UK but have very rarely enjoyed a UK show, one that stands out for me was Spooks. Second to Canada would probably have to be Australian shows such as Sea Patrol.
- Sherlock, - Dr. Who, - Inspector George Gently, - Der letzte Bulle (yeah, not the best writing, but I like it)
Cancelled shows:
- The Avengers, - The Saint, - Monty Python's Flying Circus, - The Nr. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, - La Femme Nikita, I guess there are many more, but I'm not really remembering now.
Other was really for Merlin, but it just finished earlier this year. Orphan Black would be my next choice. The original casts of Misfits and Being Human were also great, unfortunately, I think that the shows tanked when they started killing off main characters. Primeval was one of my favorite shows before it ended. I also watched The IT Crowd, Little Black Books, Spy and Torchwood - they were enjoyable, but not my favorites. I just watched the first episode of The Tunnel yesterday, not sure if it will be good or not yet.
Continuum and Lost Girl are technically Canadian shows on Showcase (a Canadian station), but are shown here in the US on Syfy. Do they count?
Les Revenants and I used to like Doctor Who before Matt Smith took over. Seen some of Sherlock and enjoyed it too, but Downton Abbey is just a ridiculous mess these days.
probabl in the future: Bitten (Canada) Current: Lost Girl (Canada) and Strike Back as coop (US/UK) Past and all time favorite: Mcleod's Daughters (Australia)
It's not that I got attached to Kommissar Rex, back then it was unusuall for me to have access to tv shows that weren't from the UK or US and it looked and sounded so different. It was my first non english speaking show and the dog was so cute and smart. I only watched the 2 or 3 first seasons while I was still a teenager and then stopped, but I really cherish those moments.
Used to be Merlin, so now just Doctor Who! There's also Copper (which I LOVE), from BBC, but it's technically BBC America, so I guess that doesn't count ;)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Other: Les Revenants (France)
ReplyDeleteSherlock is said to be good, but I'm not watching it (yet).
i remember there was another poll that i did that was similar to this.

ReplyDeleteNo Luther fans here?
ReplyDeleteFine. Sherlock! :D
Luther was uneven imo. It started GREAT, but the last season was pretty weak.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who and Torchwood.
ReplyDeleteThe IT Crowd if it still counts. Sherlock, if not.
ReplyDeleteLes Revenants and I used to like Doctor Who before Matt Smith took over. Seen some of Sherlock and enjoyed it too, but Downton Abbey is just a ridiculous mess these days.
ReplyDeleteLost Girl Canadian showing
ReplyDeleteAnother great Canadian show is Murdoch Mysteries on the CBC
ReplyDeleteYes it is in Toronto where they film.
ReplyDeleteAh, that could explain it. I'm still on season 2, and loving it so far.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who, Sherlock and Orphan Black.
ReplyDeleteOrphan Black, Doctor Who & Sherlock
ReplyDeleteFilmed in Canada yes. Don't think it counts for the list as it is a dual produced by BBC America (US) and Temple Street Productions (Canada)
ReplyDeleteprobabl in the future: Bitten (Canada)
ReplyDeleteCurrent: Lost Girl (Canada) and Strike Back as coop (US/UK)
Past and all time favorite: Mcleod's Daughters (Australia)

ReplyDeleteahh Mcleods Daughters, one of the best character developments I have seen on TV (Jodi).....
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I got attached to Kommissar Rex, back then it was unusuall for me to have access to tv shows that weren't from the UK or US and it looked and sounded so different.
