UNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS COMMITS TO SIX EPISODES OF ‘DIG’ FROM KESHET MEDIA GROUP

‘Dig’ is Co-Created and Co-Written by Tim Kring and Gideon Raff and Will Shoot in Jerusalem

The Event Series Will Premiere on USA Network

UNIVERSAL CITY – November 13, 2013 – Universal Cable Productions (UCP) announced a six episode event series commitment today for DIG, an action adventure drama from co-creators and executive producers Tim Kring (“Heroes”) and Gideon Raff (“Homeland”). The series, which was developed by Keshet in association with BermanBraun, marks the first project commitment since Jeff Wachtel was tapped for the newly created role of President and Chief Content Officer and studio head for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

DIG will premiere on USA Network in late 2014. Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir and Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein of BermanBraun also serve as executive producers. DIG is a production of Keshet Media Group for UCP in cooperation with the city of Jerusalem. The deal was brokered by WME.

DIG tells the story of Peter, an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating a murder of a woman archeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2000 years in the making that threatens to change the course of history.
“As we enter this new chapter for our studio and our portfolio, we’ve been looking for a project that makes a statement,” said Wachtel. “This team of storytellers has put together a smart, sophisticated and compelling show that will hit the market with a big bang and a lasting impression.”

“We cannot think of a more outstanding group of partners with whom to collaborate on such a captivating and original project as DIG. With the talented Gideon and a showrunner as prolific and prominent as Tim at the helm, the show is in the hands of those who are able to capture human nature and drama at its rawest moments,” said Nir. “DIG is a very special kind of Keshet project, and we appreciate Jeff and his team’s passion as we look to develop the best incarnation of the show. Plus, we greatly appreciate Mayor Nir Barkat for opening the gates of his city to us to set the scene for authenticity and a thrilling backdrop.”

“When we combine Hollywood’s creative potential with Jerusalem’s historic backdrop, it will result in the ability to connect hundreds of millions of viewers around the world to this unique and beautiful city. There is an undeniable inspiration and creative energy in Jerusalem, which is why it has become a center for international film production. When Hollywood and the Holy City meet, the sky is the limit,” said Nir Barkat, Mayor of Jerusalem.

  1. 'uncovers a conspiracy 2000 years in the making that threatens to change the course of history."
Can't they come up with something less milked out? Just a conspiracy that dates back only 100 years? Why does it always need to change the course of history...

  4. Reminds me of Andreas Eschbach's Jesus Video. I hope it's not another adaptation.

  7. quality not quantity imho matters most. though it was before my time, different genre but the the "thorn birds" series comes to mind. that was just four episodes. there are a lot of other series that have gone on much longer, for years even and should have been axed before the first episode aired.

that said so many have gone before their time, fringe, firefly, kings, terra nova, etc. all examples of shows cut short or in limited production but were quite good.

who knows about this one especially as it is coming from usa the same network that killed off last years series about a global infertility crisis. that had so much unrealized potential. usa doesn't have a stellar track record sticking with good shows hopefully that will change with dig.
