The show recently got a full-season order from ABC, which has us wondering if perhaps there will come a day when Kate (Akerman) wants a baby of her own but Pete (Whitford) feels like maybe he's past that point in his life. Whitford says he's suggested a plot along those lines.
"I had suggested -- but it's the kind of thing that on a network comedy they get very nervous about -- I had suggested that the last episode of this season would be a Mother's Day episode where I'm furiously working on getting the kids to celebrate Mother's Day and Kate is feeling left out and we're wondering why she's upset and then at the end, we find out she's pregnant," says Whitford.
"But it's like letting Josh kiss Donna -- you don't want to do that too early," he says, recalling his much-loved on-screen relationship with Janel Moloney on "The West Wing."

Well, if the show gets more than one season, it's definitely too early for a Kate pregnancy. But if there's only one season (please be more that one) then go for it in the series finale!
ReplyDeleteBut thank you for giving me a fic idea, Brad. Totally going to write that now because it's stuck in my head.
