The Walking Dead - Season 4 - David Morrissey interview

Nov 11, 2013

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Well, sir, a very ominous reentry onto the show as we see the Governor spying on the prison. This guy just cannot let it go, can he?

DAVID MORRISSEY
: He’s looking for safety, and the main thing for the prison is it’s the safe place to be. It’s the alternative of our world in the zombie apocalypse. The prison is a place of protection, not a place of incarceration, so that’s why he’s looking at it.

EW: So it’s not a personal vendetta?

MORRISSEY:
He’s looking at the building, I would suggest, rather than the people in it. Although the people in it are an inconvenience, because they’re in his way of getting safety. But it’s more about the building than the people.

  1. Yeah, obviously he was only looking at the building, lol.

  2. I know right? XD

In some way I think it could be true though. The Governor is the type that would want to rebuild his post-apocalyptic Utopia and having learned lessons from Woodbury, the prison is an ideal location.

While he is a rage-filled and violent man, the Governor is also calculated and has the ability to see the long game. I would not doubt if he is scheming is concentrated on how to take the prison... the chance to pay back a few people is just an added bonus! XD

  3. Good points! If defended right, the prison is almost a fortress. I wonder if it was the Governor feeding/luring the walkers to the prison or if it was crazy LIzzie.

If the Governor has a group of people again, a horde of zombies is a lot easier to clear from the prison than a group of armed humans.

  4. That was my thought from the first instant I saw the feeding, but I have meandered around with different theories since.
