Elijah stole the show this week in “Fruit of the Poisoned Tree”. His main objective is protecting Hayley and the baby, who are once again under attack from the witches. Agnes injects Sophie, who is still linked to Hayley, with something that will kill the baby. The Originals are able to save the baby, thanks to Davina, who unknowingly unlinks Sophie and Hayley. Cami realizes there’s something wrong and Marcel is starts to get more and more suspicious of Klaus and his siblings. At the end of the episode he comes face to face with Hayley, who then seems to have disappeared. But was it Marcel or someone else?
Favorite moment: Elijah takes the lead. He seems to be as good at planning as his brother was 3 weeks ago. Although his plan involves less killing (or at least it did it the beginning of the episode). I like that Klaus let him take charge instead of going against his brother as I’m sure he would have done in the past, even though he wasn’t too happy with it. Rebekah seemed more upset about being elected super nanny.
Best “look who’s back” moment: Thierry was back this week when Marcel went to see him about Klaus. The fact that he’s still on the show makes me think he’ll be back on the streets sooner than I first expected. Marcel did say that he might let him out by Mardi Gras.
Funniest moment: I almost fell off my chair from laughing when Rebekah walked into the kitchen dragging a dead body behind her. Hayley seems to be adapting well, since she didn’t even look surprised.
Creepiest moment: When the witches came for Sophie, were the creepy masks really necessary? I’ve re-watched this scene a few times and they just seem to appear out of nowhere. Since I’ve never seen a witch do that, does that mean they may be more than just witches?
Hottest moment: The love scene between Marcel & Rebekah was hot. I figured all that unresolved sexual tension would spark something soon but I didn’t think it would happen this early in the season. I doubt her brothers will be pleased when (or if) they find out.
Saddest moment: The goodbye scene between Rebekah and Elijah broke my heart. Once again Elijah chooses Klaus over her. I would’ve liked for Elijah to fight for her a little more, but I guess he’s respecting her decision. The kiss on the cheek was sweet, but I would have liked a hug too.
Best chemistry moment: Elijah and Hayley definitely had a moment in the pool. And it did not go unnoticed by Rebekah. The chemistry between the two is amazing, I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. I can’t wait to see how their relationship evolves.
Best badass moment: Elijah kills Agnes. The minute he promised Sophie that Agnes would not die at his brother’s hands, I knew he’d be the one who kills her. I can’t help but think back to “The Vampire Diaries” season two when he gave Trevor his forgiveness and then decapitated him. We’ve been seeing a lot of season 2 Elijah, who back then was equally (or even more) fed up with Klaus as he is now. I can’t help but feel that when he said: “No one hurts my family.” he also said it to Klaus. How awesome was he when he ripped out the hearts of those witches though?
Best friendship moment: Hayley and Rebekah seem to have become friends. Hayley’s reaction to Rebekah saying she was leaving showed us that she’d definitely miss her. I do think (and hope) that eventually, once the Originals have rescued her, Hayley will play a part in Rebekah’s decision to stay.
Favorite character: Cami surprised me this week. She realizes something is wrong with the way she now feels about her brother’s death (thanks to Klaus’ compulsion). I loved it when she slapped Klaus. Considering what he’s been doing to her, he totally deserved it. Her determination to undo the compulsion will no doubt land her in trouble. The music choice at the end of the clip was great. “And when I do, you’re going to wish you’d never laid eyes on me.” I kind of believe her.
Best quotes: Rebekah: “Who do we have to kill?” Elijah: “Probably no one… Alright, potentially everyone.”
Hayley: “I still think you’re a bitch, I’ve just grown to like that about you.”
Hayley: “I know you were just using me to save your people, but try it again and I’ll kill you.”
This week’s episode was my favorite yet. Next week seems absolutely badass. I will be counting down the days until the new episode. Check in again next week for a review and sound of in the comments with your opinions of “Fruit of the Poisoned Tree”.
