Revolution – Episode 2.8 - Come Blow Your Horn – Highs, Lows & Best Quotes

If we learned anything from this week’s episode of Revolution, it was don’t mess with Rachel or Aaron. We start off with a pissed-off Rachel. She’s learned her father has betrayed them to the Patriots. Meanwhile Charlie is witness to her grandfather publicly blaming Miles for the bombing, and says Aaron was his accomplice. Gene tells people his daughter is psychologically troubled (ouch), and that both she and Charlie were manipulated.

How far will Rachel go? Apparently to patricide. She’s willing to kill her father to wipe out the Horn and the Patriots headquarters, until Miles stops her because Aaron and Cynthia have entered the building.

On the tail end of the episode, Aaron is equally lethal. Horn has tortured Aaron, but the cliffhanger ends with Aaron’s reaction to Horn hurting Cynthia. The dead bodies in the promo to next week’s episode say it all.

High Points

In truth, the best moments were in the promo to next week’s episode that showed the dead bodies (this one felt a little slow to me, and seeing more on Aaron’s nanites look promising), but limiting the choices to this episode, the best scenes were around the almost-attack on Horn – Charlie with a dog-whistle, Rachel cat-womaning her way around the building dressed in black, and Miles’ uncharacteristic dead pan reactions (ok, that last one was a joke). The suspense is high – will she or won’t she kill her father?

Low Points

Horn’s flashbacks. This didn’t work for me. Horn is a bad guy. We just need to hate him. We don’t need to see his sob-story childhood.

Hottest Action

For a show inspired by swordfights, this episode was disappointingly tame. The best I could come up with for action was Monroe jumping off a boat into a group of four Patriots soldiers and single-handedly taking them out. I have a feeling Monroe is going to be taking this category pretty often.

Sci Fi Flashback

Ever see a scene and swear you’ve seen it before? What do you think?

For those wondering, the second picture is from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, episode Hush.

Quotes

The show has been really good lately with snarkier quotes, but this week was a little lighter.

I’m trying out something new with this abbreviated review format. My goal is to focus on the lighter, snarkier side of Revolution, and to get this out pretty quickly. Interested? Yes? No? Let me know what you think in the comments.
