Today's Early Overnight Ratings

This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)

If you are new to ratings or still confused, we recommend you read this excellent Ratings FAQ.

-Ratings Breakdown:
It was an easy Monday overnight victory for the home of “Dancing With the Stars,” ABC, which bested three-hours of “The Voice” on NBC by an average of 57 percent. But it will not enough to beat NBC among adults 18-49 and other key young adult demos.

Two-hours of “Dancing With the Stars” led the night in the overnights with a 9.9 rating/15 share from 8-10 p.m., which was 12 percent above the 8.8/13 one week earlier. Next on ABC was underrated “Castle” at a dominant 7.6/13 at 10 p.m., which benefited minus “The Blacklist” on NBC in the competitive mix. On NBC, “The Voice” Performance Recap Show finished fourth with a 4.5/ 7 in the 8 p.m. hour, followed by the two-hour live Top 10 performance edition at a second-place 6.4/10 from 9-11 p.m.

In time period premiere news, Fox drama “Almost Human” was a compatible fit into “Sleepy Hollow” with a 4.8/ 7 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was on par with the week-ago and year-ago airings of “Bones” (but 24 percent below the 6.3/ 9 for the preview on Sunday at 8 p.m.). “Sleepy Hollow,” which always held a double-digit percent advantage demographically over former lead-in “Bones” followed with a typical 4.6/ 7 at 9 p.m. The true test will come when the demos are released to see how “Almost Human” fared compared to “Bones.” My prediction is we will see noticeable growth among the key young demos.

Elsewhere, CBS had nothing unusual to report with its recently revised combination of “How I Met Your Mother” (#2: 5.6/ 9), which is expected to win the 8 p.m. half-hour among adults 18-49, “2 Broke Girls” (#2: 5.3/ 8), “Mike & Molly” (#3: 5.4/ 9), recent entry “Mom” (#4: 4.5/ 7) and failing “Hostages” (#3: 3.6/ 6). Given the increased emphasis on Allison Janney on “Mom,” what seemed generic early this season has now become must see.

The CW, meanwhile, could not compete with dramas “Hart of Dixie” (#5: 0.9/ 1) and sophomore “Beauty and the Beast” (#5: 0.6/ 1), which should never have been granted a second season.
