-Winners:
“NCIS” (CBS), “The Voice” (NBC), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS), “Vegas” (CBS)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Dads” (Fox), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Fox), “The Goldbergs” (ABC), “Trophy Wife” (ABC), “The Mindy Project” (Fox), “Scandal for Real: The Top 10 Political Scandals of the Century” (ABC)

———-

-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS dominated each of the six half-hours in the household overnights thanks to its combination of “NCIS” (#1 for the evening: 12.2 rating/19 share), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (9.2/15) and relocated “Person of Interest” (7.8/14), which built from failed year-ago occupant “Vegas” (6.8/12 on 11/13/12) by 15 percent. CBS, in fact, bested No. 2 NBC by a hefty 73 percent in the overnights, but NBC is still the network to beat among adults 18-49 (and other key young adult demos).

“The Biggest Loser” opened the night for NBC with a second-place 4.4/ 7 at 8 p.m., which was on par from one week earlier (and that translated into a 2.1 rating/6 share among adults 18-49, based on the fast affiliate ratings). Next was “The Voice” at a second-place 7.3/12 from 9-11 p.m., which was up by six percent from its 6.9/12 from one week earlier (which translated into 11.30 million viewers and a 3.4/ 9 in the demo).

Over at ABC, still demo friendly “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” dipped to a series-low 4.2/ 7 (#3) in the overnights at 8 p.m., which was seven percent below the 4.5/ 7 one week earlier. Weaker lead-in support was detrimental to lead out comedies “The Goldbergs” (#3: 3.4/ 5) and “Trophy Wife” (#3: 2.5/ 4) from 9-10 p.m., which also dipped to series lows. And 10 p.m. special “Scandal for Real: The Top 10 Political Scandals of the Century” closed the night with a very distant third-place 2.3/ 4 at 10 p.m.

Elsewhere, Fox was virtually identical to one week earlier with its live action sitcom combination of “Dads” (#4: 2.4/ 4), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#4: 2.4/ 4), “New Girl” (#4: 2.7/ 4) and “The Mindy Project” (#4: 2.1/ 3). And that translated into an adult 18-49 demo rating ranging from a 1.4/ 4 for “Dads” to a 2.0/ 5 for diluted “New Girl.” The CW, meanwhile, featured just full season-renewed “The Originals” (#5: 1.7/ 3), which was 42 percent above year-ago occupant “Hart of Dixie” (1.2/ 2 on 11/13/12) and veteran “Supernatural” (#5: 1.4/ 2).

  2. agents of shield still hasn't stabilised!!

  3. Winners - Vegas?! wasn't that last year?

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'd wait for the 18-49 demo before jumping to conclusions.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Did he forget that Chicago Fire aired last night? Also, was he reading our comments here yesterday?! The guy that everyday insists on commenting on the comparison with year ago performances today compared everything with week ago performances, right the day after our protests here yesterday! What a coincidence!

  6. Berman, have you been drinking or smoking anything lately.....Vegas?

  7. Good for The Originals. I hope its 18-49 ratings is good too.
Personally, I'm still not sold on the Shield, though episodes 1.05-1.06 were much better than the previous four. I still hope it does well though.

    ReplyDelete
  8. And Agents of Shield is down again. Surprise, surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ya. For example last week Supernatural got a 1.5 in the metered market ratings yet got a 0.9 18-49. The week before in the metered market ratings it got a 1.4 yet got a 1.1 in 18-49.

ABC seems to want to try to brand Scandal, but while the ratings are very good (but dropping) I'm just not sure it's brand-able. It's an inconsistently entertaining hour of television and Twitterverse where people enjoy and move on. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not a genre show where people will watch and buy anything with the show's name on it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Not a great night for comedy. The Mindy Project was exceptional last night

    ReplyDelete
  12. Most shows have correlation between their metered market and their 18-49 ratings. SPN is an example to a cult show that has rabid fanbase who do watching parties and do what they can to improve the ratings of their show. Shield is miles away from becoming a cult show, it's way too young for that imo, and so it's likely that Shield dropped a bit in the 18-49 ratings as well this week.

    ReplyDelete
  13. true but this show is underperforming no matter how anyone spins it!!

  14. Ouch for Shield, half hour ratings are 2.2\2.1

  15. Omg 2.2 horrrible! For aos

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ouch 2.2 for AoS :/

    ReplyDelete
  17. Those Shield ratings are starting to get annoying. Why won't it start dropping? It's not funny

  19. Awesome TO deserve it

    ReplyDelete
  20. Horrible for Shield :(

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's very annoying!

    ReplyDelete
  22. The show is going in a weird direction with spies and a love triangle. I mean, I know I shouldn't be surprised by the latter given who the creator is, but I really loved the political intrigue from the previous seasons. Now its like Alias meets Greys Anatomy. :\

    ReplyDelete
  23. Awesome for The Originals, yes!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yay The Goldbergs is holding it's own even with it's lead in falling. It needs to move behind The middle or Modern Family.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think New Girl and The Goldbergs hurt each other. One goes up when the other goes down and vice-versa. If they don't want to move them to wednesdays, at leas they should put the comedies at 8 pm and swap them with Shield.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I wonder how much contribution the first TVD character crossing over to TO had in the ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  27. After the last few episodes I honestly thought Supernatural would be going down, good for SPN. Also good for the originals. I'm eating my words when I thought that they would make a horrible pairing. Very happy to see that I was wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Shield is starting to collapse. Until they make changes to the supporting cast it's just going to keep going down.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Supernatural always bounces back. :).

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree and then the ratings would go up because New Girl and The Goldbergs are great shows.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Agreed. I don't mind the hacker girl, or the pilot, and I obviously love Coulson. But the agent guy and two scientists? Nope. They grate on me. I would be pleased if they were tweaked somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Way to ruin POI, CBS messed it up big time and its not just POI which is struggling.

    1. New show Crazy Ones isn't doing crazy ratings for a show airing at 9 PM instead of POI.
    2. Elementary is struggling without POI.
    3. POI is itself struggling.
    4. TAAHM is struggling without TBBT, they worked well together.

This whole timeslot shakeup and Comedy expansion for Thursday has backfired. Well POI's rating aren't bad but when one of the best episode gets much mediocre ratings, I feel gutted. :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hilarious. In Berman's post of the 18-49 on his site he has The Originals as an honorable mention. Yet the 9 year old Supernatural has splits of 1.1/2.38 & 1.0/2.31 no mention.

His hatred for the show is absolutely hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  34. He used to be nastier, nowadays he just calls it veteran.

    ReplyDelete
  35. possibly some, I mean c'mon it's Tyler. He might have many haters but also enough fans. Fans that wouldn't watch the Klaus show since..well..Ty and Klaus aren't really besties.

He's possibly the only character that really had his fanbase stick to VD. Caroline, Matt, Stefan, Elena, Katherine etc. fans would've gladly followed Klaus, Elijah and Bex simply due to their positive relations to these characters and some mentions

    ReplyDelete
  36. I still like the concept of Shield and I personally would like to see more shows connecting with movies as much as Shield does (hopefully DC will take the hint with Arrow when they make a Justice Leauge movie) but the cast has some issues, it feels at time too childish.. not what I expected from such show, especially not when Arrow gives a good example on how comic based shows should be done every week.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Actually, 2.5 Men would do better going back to Mondays.

    ReplyDelete
  38. How am I the first person to comment that you probably didn't mean to use "dropping"? You might wanna fix that, hehe. I wish it would finally settle in as well.

    ReplyDelete
  39. DIsheartening yes, but not cause of major concern. CBS gave it an extra episode making it up to 23 this year. Glad to know, they're not taking this too hard.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I watched the first four episodes and didn't enjoy the Glee style cast. I could do with Coulson, May and that Agent guy. But the techies and Skye need to go and be replaced with older more likable agents

    ReplyDelete
  41. My reason for stopping to watch:

    - feels written like a saturday morning cartoon
    - I HATE the team (except Coulson, May and that Agent) they're simply too young and annoyingly quirky
    - I had too high hopes and was too heavily crushed. I'll give it a second run after the winter hiatus

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree it was the best episode so far.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Aos Is starting to drop to OUAT season 3 level.

The originals just narrowly beat SUpernatural's ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Chiago fire and agents of shield scored the same rating of 2.2 which chiago fire getting more viewers. I don't watch either show but thats really surprising because I won't have put those shows on the same level at all.

    ReplyDelete
  45. POI is performing at 100% of CBS's most recent drama average. There is nothing to take too hard, the show is still doing more than good enough. I think it will easily finish the year as their highest rated 10 pm show and the gap with CM and NCIS-LA should continue to close IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  46. In my opinion there is a huge problem with tv shows connecting to movie(s) and tv shows that connect to other tv shows. The problem is that you have to watch all of them to understand the storyline of any. Its hard enough finding the time to 1atching a 1 hour show once a week but needing to watch more hours of other movies or tv shows to understand the show and I'll stop watching.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Why would people assume that? Monday is actually more competitive than Thursday nowadays and the lead-ins available there (except for HIMYM) are hardly higher-rated enough to make a difference from what it gets on Thursday. So why?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ahah of course you're right. I'll fix that! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ya like last year when he went on and on every week about how the CW was wasting the Arrow lead in and they could do better for the 9pm Wed spot. What were they suppose to do move Vampire Diaries there or just double up on Arrow episodes? Because nothing else they had was gonna do better than Supernatural in that slot.

    ReplyDelete
  50. What I'm saying is that it would be a better lead-in to Mom than Mike and Molly. Mike and Molly could do okay after the Crazy Ones.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well, FOX came second for 18-34s for the night tied with CBS and only 0.4 behind NBC fueled the voice, and that's where the real money comes from for them that night. I've stopped judging the ratings of FOX comedy based on 18-49s, it's not appropriate I think.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Maybe because it did well there before and now it has a crappy lead in from TCO?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think it is unlikely that there would be a significant effect from that. Two and a Half Men is doing a 2.1 on Thursdays and Mike and Molly just did a 2.3 last night. Even if Two and a Half Men was 0.4 points higher on Mondays, which is not even likely (as I've said, way more competition with the voice + sleepy hollow) and if Mike and Molly would hold on Thursdays (which is an unknown, because on Mondays you know it's still following the compatible 2BG as it did last year), the gain would be minimal and not worth the promotion necessary to move the shuffle the shows around. High risk, low return move.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The show is clearly weaker than it was 2 years ago and Monday as a whole is a lot more difficult than it was two years ago. Comparing the situation with 2 years ago is totally meaningless. Plus, two years ago the show was highly inflated because of the Ashton Kutcher hype.

    ReplyDelete
  55. SPN's ratings have been quite stable during the season for a few years now. It hovered in the 0.8-1.1 range all last season and I have no doubt it will hover between 0.8-1.1 range all of this season. Just because you maybe didn't like the first few episodes doesn't mean other people didn't. Oh and why wouldn't TO and SPN be a good fit?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Dropping to a 0.9 was hardly anything to cry over no doubt it will hover in the 0.9 to 1.1 range all season.

    ReplyDelete
  57. it should go behind The Middle with Mixology going behind Modern Family once SFN is finished.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Maybe because its not very good? It had very good sampling but from what I can see it just hasn't lived up to peoples expectations and each week it doesn't get better viewers either drop the sho or relegate it to DVR.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't watch The Originals, and frankly I hate anything to do with TVD since its third season, but... wow. Respect.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Wow, I didn't even notice that! How neat. Too bad about the Vegas reference though, lmao.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Agree for the most part, I do watch TO regularly, but Tyler is my favorite character and I'm not a big Klaus fan at all. I watched the show for Rebekah/Marcel, but it's a good show overall. I know many Tyler fans who tuned in specifically because of him and I know some who didn't because they thought he was going to die.

    ReplyDelete
  62. No one was crying over a 0.9 and I was referring to previous seasons when it got 0.7s in the past and has bounced back from then.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I know, especially since the new shows at the time weren't going to do any better.

    ReplyDelete
  64. If you liked the first seasons of TVD, you will probably like TO. I almost didn't watch it at all but I am so glad I did. It is probably my favorite show of the season (I don't really like to say this, because it depends on the weeks, it could be tied with other shows, but let's say that it is for sure one of my favorite shows of the season). I strongly recommend you giving it a try!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Devon Maxwell-Pierce13 November 2013 at 19:37

Viewers are leaving CBS at 9:30 and coming back for Elementary. I think 2.5 Men's time has passed. It's an incredibly poor lead-in for Elementary and I would have loved it if they had merely swapped POI and E on Thursdays, bolstering E with TBBT hour and letting POI's loyal audience shift one hour later. I think it would have been better than what we're getting now, which is to say a weaker 10pm Thursday and a weakened POI. Almost anything would have been an improvement in the 10pm Tuesday slot over last year, so I don't see that as that big a gain for CBS.

POI is a lock for renewal, clearly, and I'm glad Elementary is stabilizing a bit. But the comedy block clearly isn't the resounding success for which CBS hoped.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I agree with omabin, TO is a great show with a more mature tone than TVD. I liked it better than I thought I would. You should give it a try.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks for the input. You're not the first person to recommend the show to me, but I don't know... I don't think I'm physically capable of taking any more of Klaus, even with Rebekah and my beloved Elijah around to balance things out. What do they say? Hate is a strong word - but not strong enough to describe how I feel about Klaus. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  68. See my reply to omabin, but thanks anyway. :) Maybe I can watch if I FF all the Klaus scenes...

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yeah I get that. But I really disliked Klaus back in TVD too and now I like him. They've managed to do the impossible. They've humanized him a great deal (don't know about how much spoilers you know/want to know). He is still far from a decent person, but he's much more in the Damon category than what he used to be. I had major issue with him on TVD because of him killing Jenna etc, but it's really different here. Plus, if you love Rebekah as much as I do, she is highly featured here and pretty prominent (you should leave episode 2 in particular) which is a main plus. Elijah was not very focused during the very first episodes due to a plot point (basically, due to the fact that Daniel was busy filming the Canadian show), but is now very much in the spotlight. I would say that the show is about the 3 brothers and family more than it is about Klaus, I don't find him more focused than then others and, even when he is focused, it's really a massive improvement from TVD. I rest my case now ahah, I will let you decide!

well after only 6 episodes Agent of shield as the same demo as Once Upon A Time (in its third season)...

    ReplyDelete
  71. the truest believer13 November 2013 at 21:14

they used a lot of money to advertise this show (unlike Once Upon A Time) this is disappointing but the problem is the show itself.Too bad, hopefully if/when ABC will cancel it Marvel will try to do other tv show but with actual super powers (like in the tomorrow people)

    ReplyDelete
  72. the truest believer13 November 2013 at 21:18

i still watch the show because i'm a "marvelite" but i agree with everything you said ! how could they thought coulson could carry a show on his own ? he's a good supporting character but not more...and the young actors (except skye) are really bad.Like you my hopes were too high, i guess i was expecting a mini-marvel movie every week ^^

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'd just like to congratulate "failed year-ago occupant Vegas" on being a winner last night. Well done.

    ReplyDelete
  74. One techie that's maybe not so silly and yes, get rid of Skye. Not working.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The Goldbergs was VERY hillarious this episode! I wish it gets renewed so I agree with any strategy to keep it on air.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I mean, I don't understand, after the episode where Simmons almost died, I thought more people would tune in because it was one of the best episodes. Please please don't die.
