    Wow! Just wow!
    Okay . . . . I must admit that I was completely fooled last week by the Governor. I thought he had actually changed. I found myself caring about him and whether he would survive when he was getting the oxygen tanks. I liked him w/the family. Last week was a great episode for the Governor.
    But then this week happened . . . . the Governor is ridiculously EVIL. I couldn't believe he killed Martinez. I was shocked. Martinez should have trusted his instincts and left the Governor in that pit! And then the killing of Pete shocked me too. It was crazy. The Governor is stone cold nuts.
    Next week looks great! I hope none of our main peeps die!

    Good episode. It really made me hate the governor. I liked martinez and what little we saw of pete. Hopefully next episode lives up to the hype.

    I love hershel too but all rumors point to it. As for others, i think it's entirely possible that the governor will die and maybe a few members of his group survive and join the prison group. Beth, Sasha, Glenn, and maggie are all possibilities too

    it was awesome to see Kirk Acevedo in this episode and then him getting a larger role...Charlie Francis was such an underated character in Fringe.
    But this episode was awesome. Evil people aren't just evil, they have some redeeming qualities - for the Governor, he's a family man and cares alot for family, and that's great they explored that. But what a twist to show that despite all that he is still bat sh** insane. I don't think i've ever seen such depth for an antangonist.

    I hope the Governor dies! He's awful! It wouldn't bother me if Beth died. I do like Sasha though. And Glenn and Maggie. Next week is going to be rough b/c I like all the characters and really don't want to see anyone dead.
    It is absolutely essential that Rick, Tyrese, Daryl, Carl, and Michonne survive though.

    I really liked this episode. A lot more action than last week and it was a good change to meet some new people. I also was happy to see Kirk Acevedo and I think Mitch is staying a while. He and the governor think the same about killing people if there's even a chance they'll hold you back from your own survival and that of your loved ones. I miss Martinez, but he's no "Governor." He's just not savvy enough, attentive enough, nor cold enough to lead in a zombie apocalypse; nor would he be a good assistant anymore, now that he's developed his leadership abilities. So he was useless to the Governor.

    It is ironic that Martinez, when he was the leader, lectured the Governor about how no dead weight would be acceptable, and then he himself was deemed "dead weight" and killed.

    Agreed. My only dislike was the line that Shumbert was dead - apparently. I'm not sure I buy it 100% - but having met the actor back in Sept., I was seriously looking forward to more of him this season.

    I couldn't tell which one was going to die based on the casting, so great job with that!


    And I liked Brian Heriot's motivation as much as the Governor's.

    Well any possible good notions we had towards the Governor got cast out in this episode. He may have said he didn't want it, but his actions showed otherwise. Okay maybe he doesn't want it, but it's in him, he needs it. Sucks for Martinez, who I liked this episode, but now we're confirming the Governor's cruelty while giving him some sort of motivation that explains his actions, as opposed to his actions last season which made... well little sense would be putting it kindly.


    I hope (and dread) next week we get the war that we were promised in the season 3 finale. And given how the comics turned out combined with the image of that tank in the promo... it appears some serious shit is going down next week. Curious if it'll be the end of the prison or just the beginning of the end of the prison.


    Here's to hoping Rick, Carl, Maggie, Glenn, Daryl, and Michonne don't die next week! I worry for Michonne since she's with Hershel, and I sadly think he's a goner. We'll be counting the days until next week.

    Not necessarily. One of those you mentioned didn't exist in the prison arc in the comic, and one of them didn't survive it...

    I love the woman that plays Libby\lizzy. She was on the unit and I looooved her. However I can't wait to see our group of people again. I feel like they're weirdly testing the spin off

    These Governor episodes have been brilliant!


    Getting into his head last week as the writers make us think he may have changed and then teasing us a few more times in this episode only to reveal to us that the old Governor is back!



    It was interesting to see the pragmatist Governor win out over the more sentimental Brian Heriot. Seeing the inept leadership forced his hand and brought out his inner Darwinist! Plus, with Martinez dead it means his newly created identity is safe for the time being. So disturbing to see him recreate his walker head aquarium by dumping Pete the new guy into the lake.


    The way he killed Martinez really seems like he does not want to be the man he was, but has resigned himself to the fact that he needs to be that man (at least some variation of that man) to survive in this world. .


    New family?. Check.
    New daughter? Check.
    New protected enclave? Check.
    New army? Check.
    Same old Governor? Check.

    Last weeks episode was pretty good. I knew we would eventually see The Governor side of Brian again, just didn't know how they would bring him out.
    This weeks episode, I was a bit underwhelmed by. I think 2 weeks away from the core group doesn't work in keeping the audience engrossed in the story. They should have spread the Governors story out maybe a bit more & not crammed it all into 2 episodes in a row.
    Great to see Charlie Francis (Kirk Acevedo) again. Wonder how long he'll last.
    Next weeks episode looks like it might be good though.

    I have SO loved this season up until now! I even thought last week's episode was a totally unexpected way to (mmmmaybe??) take the Governor in a new, more layered direction. But after "Dead Weight," all I can say is "whiplash." That wasn't so much a character arc as a 180mph slingshot/boomerang effect. I could have appreciated the exploration of some inner conflict if this week's resolution didn't feel so totally rushed and coincidental. Really, nobody saw you guys hitting golf balls on top of that RV? Nobody heard all that walker pit commotion as Martinez became lunch? Nobody thinks it's a little weird that Brian shows up and all the camp leaders are suddenly dropping like flies? Nobody at the prison has ever once happened upon these other "survivor camps" out in the woods? To me, that's asking your viewers to accept an awful lot, and this season's writing has seemed so much better than that. I read all these comments, and TWD has smart viewers who deserve better.

    If you're just gonna take the guy right back to where he started in a single episode, then (to me) "Live Bait" is reduced to a complete time-waster. And I think it deserved way better as well. The writing, and the simple idea that this terrible guy might figure out some way to battle back his dark side, was far too intriguing. I also gave the show a much-needed glimmer of hope, which feels like it's in pretty short supply right now. Hoping the mid-season finale episode is WAAAY better than this latest one.

    What are the odds of Carol hearing the message put out by The Sanctuary and telling everyone about it after reuniting? If not The Sanctuary maybe some other community of survivors?

    I saw on Talking Dead that these two episodes were filmed during Comic-Con when the main cast was in San Diego doing promotion.


    I wonder if they did the same thing last year, and if so will it be the pattern moving forward? Two episodes around mid-season that are centered outside the original group....

    Tyreese died when The Governor used him as a bargaining chip to take the prison. Rick of course refused to give it over and The Governor beheaded Tyreese. I bet Hershel will be The Governor's bargaining chip but I wonder what'll happen with Michonne.

    Wow, what an amazing episode to lead us into the mid season finale!! I think the writers have done an excellent job bringing the Governor, aka Brian, back into the show in his own weird way of trying to find redemption after Woodbury and then losing it all again as he realizes he can't be Brian. With his new family, only the Governor can protect and lead them to safety which he believes is still the prison. I find it ironic that this is really the last place that is safe anymore as we have seen.


    Loved seeing Kirk A. again from Fringe. Mitch seems to be the perfect second in command for the Gov. Kill first, then ask questions later!


    My question is really who killed those people in the barbwire camp? Are they another new threat to both the prison group and the Gov group? I keep thinking about who it was that fed the rats to the walkers at the prison too. Maybe it was this outside group trying to bring down the prison walls via walkers.



    So many symbolic things in this episode. I loved the intro with the little girl and her new "dad" as they played chess and talked.



    Can't wait for next week and see how this will all go down.

    I think the moment that Martinez became a threat or "dead weight" to the Gov. was when he had drank too much and was almost spilling the facts of who "Brian" really was to his new family. The Governor knew that Martinez knew too much and could spoil everything he had at this point and was becoming a liability.

    Then,at the moment when Lilly praised Martinez about feeling safe and disregarding Brian as keeping them safe up to now, that is when the Governor knew he must kill Martinez and take over the leadership of the camp. I think at that moment the Gov. put into motion the whole plan to kill off the liabilities, Martinez and Pete, and keep Mitch who fit perfectly as another follower of the way the Governor ruled before.

    I really hope not! I really don't enjoy watching the Governor-centric episodes and wish that they would just stick to the protagonists. If they want to show the perspective of a major antagonist, that's okay too, but not for two whole episodes! I would rather wait for them to film later and put the episodes to good use.

    In the comics Rick, Michonne, and Glenn saw the helicopter crash and went to investigate only to be captured by The Governor. He tortured them for information raping Michonne and cutting off Rick's hand all in front of Glenn causing him psychological issues. They later escaped. Michonne to this day is still alive in the comics. The only ones still alive in the comics is Rick, Carl, Andrea, Maggie, and Michonne.

    Dammit, just as I thought the Governor was interesting, it seems he quickly fell back into his old ways and now he is just "The big evil" again. I would have loved if his character would have stayed on the right path for a while, before he went back to being The Governor.
    I´m much more interested in the Daryl/Rick/Carol story than the shootout next week.

    Hey I totally agree with you!!! I think the gov't stories WAS interesting but to many flawed in last week's episode!! Even the most notable HUGE PROP the tank!!! It's funny that tank hasn't been used since 1980!!!!!! In season 1 and 2 they seemed to have used real tanks that are actually in our military!!! I personally can't help but notice those things not to be anal bout it,!!!! SLOPPY,SLOPPY,SLOPPY

    In the beginning of the show, when everyone meets at the pit, Martinez tells "Brian" they have a camp about 1/2 a mile away, so the camp was not that close.

    I wondered about the community not hearing the Governor's raucous as well!


    I can see them noticing them on the roof playing golf, but not paying much attention to them. However, I would think that people may have heard the pit zombies acting up or Martinez screaming for his life!


    I considered that maybe Mtich knew full well what actually happened, but was covering for The Governor in an attempt not to get killed XD


    The rest just fell into place like good little sheeple.
