That was great. One thing that is really refreshing about OUAT Wonderland is how the flashbacks are actually important to the characters' development. Seeing the game of cat and mouse between Regina and Snow White in OUAT flashbacks has gotten really old. Not really a fair comparison since OUAT is in its third season, but still.
I loved the fact that Anastasia used the dust to free Will and she didn't even take the glory for it. It shows, just like with Regina, that people are not white and black, but there are a lot of grays in the middle.
I sense Jafar heading to the real world where Alice grew up or maybe he's ended to the Enchanted Forest lol either way he's leaving wonderland and the fact it's been confirmed that there would be a crossover between the two shows.
Also the prisoner who didn't escape with Cyrus looked familiar so many times and i couldn't figured it out till i realize he plays Raj's Dad on TBBT lol
I'm glad Cyrus is out of his cage. With these ratings I doubt the show is gonna last long so I want to see more of him being on the outside. The whole Anastasia/Will flashback thing felt a little rushed to me. Anastasia betrayed Will in a heartbeat! Love the rabbit!
I think it was my favorite episode. The show is getting less and less childish, which is awesome, and I loved Anatasia's backstory. Maybe it was a bit rushed, yes, but I think even she acknowledges that, hence she apologizing to Will at the end. Will is really my favorite character, his story is quite sad.
Can you explain to me how Cora fits with the Red Queen here? I am a bit confused, but that's probably because I've missed something. Shouldn't Cora be the Queen? How does that fit in?
I agree with this 100%. That's why I've liked so much seeing flashbacks from characters such as Hook and Ariel on OUAT. They matter. I can't with another Snow and Rumple flashback on OUAT.
I think this is still pre-curse so I don't think Cora is in Wonderland yet...
But I meant in terms of similar situations. They both seem to come from poor relations and end up going to a ball in which a proposal is made that allows them to "Marry A King". The exact circumstances differ in who makes the proposal and that Cora is looked down upon by a royal court before she goes to the ball, where Ana is only looked down upon during the ball. Cora's father also doesn't seem to care what happens to his daughter (no high expectations), where Ana's mom does have them (which Cora has the same attitude towards Regina, which she contrives her wedding to King Leopald via saving young Snow White) They both become Queens of Wonderland. I also suspect that Cora and Ana (and also like Regina) aren't really happy with the kings they marry (although I can't figure out why Cora wouldn't like Henry Sr., except that she might find his good nature anti-productive of her need for certain power indulgences).
Oh, I got what you meant with the similarities. My question was a bit off topic, it was just because I am lost timeline wise. It's all very confusing to me because we saw Will leaving Storybrook in the pilot, didn't we? So everything we're watching is post-curse. Which means, at some point between pre-curse and curse Alice had to come to Wonderland for the first time and Anastasia had to become the Queen. But how does that fit in with Cora? That's my question.
The current story is post curse, but the flashbacks are pre-curse, because Cora is back in FTL making the dome at the time of the curse...
The time in Storybrook Will leaves from is sometime during the second season. Some speculate it is time of a The Wraith because of the way Emma's care also rips past them (Will, Ahsley Leroy...
Sure! It's a little confusing since they haven't been very specific about it during the series so far...
I do think the Knave must have gotten back to FTL at the time of the curse and swept to Storybrooke, because he made some 1980's references to Alice like The Care Bears XD
Yes I agree, it's a bit confusing. I went to check on wikipedia (or whatever the counterparty version for OUAT is called) for Cora's story after we talked in the afternoon to remind myself, I was a bit lost :p Too many shows, it gets confusing!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Pretty cool episode! I liked all the back story. Poor Knave/Will though, I felt bad for him.

ReplyDeleteRegarding the scene where Anastasia broke in to steal the jewels:
ReplyDeleteTinkerbell called. She wants her Neverland costume back :P

ReplyDeleteAnother solid episode! a lot of Cora/Regina parallels with Ana, her mother, and the king in particular.

ReplyDeleteI think he' going to the Enchated Forest too
